@zimamma From my understanding that’s only a concern if your fetal fractal results are too low to be conclusive. That can indicate Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18. However, your results were not so low as to be inconclusive, so it seems like your count was just on the lower side.
@zimamma I posted this earlier but both my NIPTs came back inconclusive due to insufficient fetal DNA, so I never even reached the 4% threshold. Obviously not thrilled about it but my NT ultrasound and first trimester blood work all came back normal excepted for elevated AFP levels, which is a predictor of neural tube defects/insufficient placenta, neither of which would have impacted my NIPT.
At this point we are waiting on the anatomy scan next week but so far neither my doctor nor midwife is concerned by my low fetal DNA. I am a little nervous (and was a wreck the first couple days I got the news) but overall I feel mellow about it.
My friend's theory is that they couldn't find the baby's DNA because it is girl who is basically genetically identical to me obviously not medically possibly but it makes me smile so that is what I am rolling with.
Good luck next week @happymoni21. What's your due date? Are they doing early anatomy scan? Mine isn't until mid-December although I'm due at the end of April.
Mommy to an angel baby and a sweet little girl Earth side.
@LifeofLauren2 I am due April 1 and they wanted me to go for my anatomy scan as soon as I hit 18 weeks because if there are problems they want to id them ASAP. So basically I have the earliest possible 18-20 week anatomy scan for us April folks
@happymoni21 Thank you for sharing🤗 I have, too, read that in most cases low fraction is not an indicator of any issues with the baby, guess I am just a worrier. Please let us k ow how your scan goes, it is so exciting to see them:) I am sure your little girl is healthy and beautiful!
thank you for your responses, April mommies, I feel better now!
