Hi guys! So I have BV and was prescribed Metronidazole gel, the pharmacist said it wasn't safe (the pill version) but he wasn't sure about the gel. That made me nervous so I asked the doctor and she said it is fine to take.
I am a little worried to take it and an contemplating trying to cure it "naturally". I am usually all for antibiotics but since I'm pregnant it makes me nervous. Does anyone have any experience with the gel? Is it safe? Did your babies come out okay?
This is a reliable source. It explains bacterial vaginosis and the risks associated with it going untreated. It also states that the common treatment for it is metronidazole 500mg, so I find the pharmacist's recommendation a little odd. If you're still not comfortable, I suggest scholarly articles about the medication and pregnancy. A quick search myself found that there was no association with negative outcomes. But I suggest you do your own research as well.
@ejtg22 thank you for not being another drive-by. If you still have doubts, scholarly articles is the best way to go and maybe speak to your doctor again for reassurance. Good luck. That ish is nasty.
