@mrskoz428 I have fond childhood memories of the series and still read the books from time to time but I stopped being all that into it in high school. In college I went to a midnight premier with friends and there were people dressed up and some woman made a snitch cake and insisted it needed its own seat and I was like wtf is going on rn.
I don't like the unnecessary attempts to humanize technology. For example, I just used Google voice assistant on my phone to text my husband a sweet message. It says back, "So, let me make sure that's..." It's the "so" that got me. I hate when people constantly begin sentences with "so", I don't need them to program it into my AI. Let the computer be a computer, efficiently.
I totally get that Harry Potter isn’t for everyone. I grew up with it and it was my escape so I’m one of those people that’s still obsessed and read the entire series every year. No shame haha.

@mrskoz428 I'm with you on HP. Somehow my friend and I got ourselves into a HP college course Cosmic Concepts: The Science of Harry Potter (the scientific concepts behind the magical events that occur in the series.) Now every time we See HP stuff, we send it to each other as a joke.
I don't think all the Harry Potter movies were that great, but I still really like the books. I'm reading them again right now actually. I thought they did a particularly poor job with the last movie. It disappointed me.
@mrskoz428 have you read the books? I absolutely adored the first three. Even the fourth. And I still devoured and enjoyed the rest, but by the time the last one came out, it felt like Rowling's writing had slipped (comma splices everywhere!) and there was none of the original spark and humour left. I know they got dark, but I felt like she focused too much on growing the books up with her audience and lost track of why people fell in love with it to begin with.
I'm re-reading it right now with my grade 5 book club. There were two kids who were on the fence about reading it (actually... protested loudly) who, after reading the first two chapters, now consider it their favourite book.

@liliumstargazer13 - I remember when voice technology was in its infancy and got SO frustrated with it when I was forced to use it for FedEx in the early 2000's. I'd say "Ship to Columbus" and it would repeat "Ship to Atticus. Is that right?" NO IT'S NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! I remember cussing out Disney's automated system around that time and it said "We're sorry, we understand you're frustrated. We'll transfer you to a cast member now."
I have a very hard time trusting voice technology now. I never use Siri or my Echo. I'm always afraid it's going to screw it up and I'm going to have to repeat myself 25 times before it understands me. I realize the technology is leaps and bounds beyond what it was when I was younger but I'm still scarred. I think this is the beginning of my resistance to new technology. I have no doubt my kids will be making fun of me in 10-15 years.
I love weddings. My wedding was amazing, it was at a "castle" at the top of a small mountain overlooking mountains and lakes. It was a tad on the expensive side though.
I have never seen HP or twilight, and do not really have a desire to.
I love a wedding! DH and I paid for our own and it stung, but our guests had a blast and it was one of the best days of our lives. I absolutely understand the one side of eloping/going to the courthouse, and opposite end of going full on crazypants chocolate fountain/confetti cannons. Doesn't matter what you do, as long as the couple is in love and happy.
Didn't the glucose drink was bad either. People hyped it up way too much for being the nastiest thing ever.
Wine is amazing and I am going to have a very nice glass of red on Thanksgiving. 5 weeks away, can't wait guys.

I’ve had two weddings, the traditional affair (we probably spent about $25k) and a backyard affair where we spent a little under $5k (It was a surprise wedding so that cool. We still hosted about 75 though and food and drink is expensive!) Both affairs were special in their own right and one doesn’t seem better than the other. At the end of the day it’s just a day though and the marriage that results is really the most important thing.
I’m not really a fan of wine. I mostly just like moscato d’asti and maybe a good sangria. Even then I still only want an occasional glass and don’t miss it at all. In fact neither my husband nor I drink much alcohol at all. I used to drink more when I was younger because I felt so much pressure to but now that I’m in my 30s I just don’t care as much if you think I’m lame for prefering a glass of water to a glass of wine.
@beccaneu as the daughter of a recovering alcoholic, I RARELY drink (when not pregnant, obviously). Once a month, maybe I’ll go out after work on a Friday and get a Bloody Mary with coworkers or a glass of wine at a date night dinner, but I was never a social drinker and will never be. I fear that I will become what my farther was and that terrifies me enough to mostly stay away. I’m with you! Give me some tea,m or a Dr. Pepper and I’m happy!
@mrskoz428 I totally get your fear! My father is an alcoholic (haven't seen/spoken to him in nearly 16 years) and it terrifies me to think about becoming like him at some point in my life. I have realized that I am at a point in my life where one or two drinks in a night definitely seems like enough and I don't feel like going overboard (totally have in the past though and always hate how I feel!). Hoping you and I are both spared by the addiction! My brother definitely seems to have gotten the addiction, but he has been sober for over 6 months now!

@zuuls_mom that's so good about your brother. I am an addict. I've been sober since May 4, 2011. My sobriety will be a 3rd grader when baby is born lol.
@zuuls_mom Congrats to your brother, that is so awesome! I definitely don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything and never drank much in college either, despite the fact that DH only drinks when he socializes. I am thankful that my parents instilled the fear of God into me and I never had an interest.
