    Due date/W+D:  May 27 7+3

    Age? 39

FTM/STM/TTM, etc?: STM- I have 1 DD age 15 months

    Any appointments? Questions?:

No appointments until 10/31 which seems like years away.

    Rants/Raves?:
All of my pregnancies have been after 35, but I feel like this one is just dragging me down the most. Is it because older? Sometimes I feel like this is a young woman's game that I am playing.

    Any specific AMA concerns?

Any TTM moms who had VBAC here? I had a C-section with DD and I thought that I would be a good candidate for a RCS, but she says no that they will attempt a VBAC with me. I think all things considered, I would prefer a VBAC b/c I will have a 2-year old that I will want to pick up after I get home. I actually think my epidural slowed down my labor since I progressed fast to start. I may attempt a natural VBAC with my next delivery.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school?

1997- it was the year of Hanson, Smash Mouth, and Chumbawumba.

Any appointments? Questions?: US appt this afternoon!

Rants/Raves?: IDK how to announce this pregnancy and it's stressing me

    Any specific AMA concerns?

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school?  PARTY LIKE ITS 1999 (and yes that was our prom theme)

@chloe97 I find your language very interesting, your OB *told* you they'd try for a VBAC? Like, as in, didn't ask your preference? Why did you have your intial c-section?

  • @sleepy33 Yep that is ACOG standard of care now. Unless there is a legitimate reason that you would need a RCS, the standard is to try for a VBAC bc all things considered VBACs are safer for most women. My labor stopped progressing at 9.5 cm and DDs HR would drop when i was having contractions. As the Dr put it at the time, for some reason my uterus was dysfunctional.

For whatever it's worth, my OB not 2 days ago said that the trend is moving away from the standard of insisting all women try to VBAC, in particular if they are unlikely to have a lot more births planned for the future, and especially if their original reason for c-section was arrest of dilation or arrest of descent. My doc said (and I agree with him) that he'd lean towards a RCS for me, as this is very likely my last kiddo, and my original c-section was for both arrest of dilation and descent AND my first son having a very large head, this baby will likely be similarly shaped and there's a high likelihood of the same scenario. I mean, if you're inclined to want to try to VBAC, totally go for it, but I would not feel comfortable with my doc telling me how things would go like that.

  • @chloe97 this has some super helpful info: https://www.fitpregnancy.com/pregnancy/labor-delivery/are-you-ideal-candidate-vbac

It lists these reasons for prior c-section as being the best candidates for VBAC:
    • Nonrecurring reason for Cesarean delivery (such as malposition, breech, multiples, fetal distress, placenta previa)
Also, everything I've read says that the decision of whether or not to VBAC should be the patient's decision after they are informed of all the risks, benefits and drawbacks to both sides. So I hope I don't come across as preachy at all, but please feel empowered to make your own call here.  <3

That is interesting, b/c ACOG issued this last year https://www.acog.org/About-ACOG/News-Room/News-Releases/2017/ACOG-Releases-New-Guidance-Aimed-at-Making-VBAC-Available-to-More-Women

I think that if arrest of dilation was your main reason, that would make sense for you to do a RCS. Mine was more about the baby's HR. She was in sideways and my labor put her in distress. I am not against a RCS, but I know that my Dr is going to probably make me labor and not schedule one. I'd really like to do all the things I can do to have a successful VBAC.

And I don't know that I 100% agree with your statement that it being a choice. I mean TECHNICALLY I could ask for a RCS and she would counsel me on all the risks and let me know that in her medical judgment I was making the less safe choice. So yes, while my choice- I want to do what's best for my health and my children both this baby and my 2-year-old daughter. I chose to have a c-section b/c the Dr delivering my child told me that is what was safest for my child and myself at that point. I could have said "no", but there is no way that I was going to go against medical advice in that situation. I think everyone has to listen to what their own Dr says about their own case and make a decision that they feel is in their best interest.

  • @chloe97 Ah, see then yes, it seems like then you'd primarily fall into the malpositioning and fetal distress categories. I also tend to think I would have not had the dilation and descent stall if they hadn't insisted on giving me pitocin since my water had broken more than 48 hours prior, BUT considering how he got 'stuck' and couldn't descend, I think it wound up being kind of a moot point for me. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a smooth, uncomplicated VBAC! :)

    Due date/W+D:  5/12 9w4d

    Age? 35

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?: ttm

Any appointments? Questions?:  NIPT blood draw on the 18th

Rants/Raves?: I'm really wanting to keep this pregnancy to ourselves until around Christmas, but I already look like I'm 4-5 months.

Any specific AMA concerns? I'm pretty sure this is our last, but I'm worried about having a c-section, and how long they recommend before getting pregnant again.  My husband would kill me for even thinking about this  :D

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 2000

    eta:words are hard

  • @troystory17 my Dr told me 18 months between deliveries to avoid risk of uterine rupture, so you have plenty of time. And I am right there with you, though I am only 7 weeks,I feel like I look atleast 14-15 weeks. Thank god sweater season has started in the midwest this week.
  • Due date/W+D: May 27/7+4? (might be June 5/6+2)

    Age? 35

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?: TTM

Any appointments? Questions?: Had my appt on Wednesday, which I've basically over-chronicled in the appts thread already. Long story short, baby's measuring super small in relation to LMP. Could be that my O date was pretty late, which is what I suspect looking at my temps chart and would correspond exactly with size on US this week. We'll see in about a week

    Rants/Raves?:

Any specific AMA concerns? Nope. If it weren't for my random O date, I'd likely be treated as standard risk other than being offered NIPT.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 2000, Y2K!

  • Due date/W+D: 5/12/2019 9W5D (as of now, still haven't had a dating u/s, not sure if I will)

    Age? 37

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?:STM, One DD who is 3 1/2

Any appointments? Questions?: My appointment yesterday was a mess. Very long story, but I am going back today.

Rants/Raves?: I am not "allowed" to do my Panorama until I am 12 weeks because my BMI is over 30. UGH. I also gained a crap ton of weight since July. Not all pregnancy related but a big chunk of it is.

Any specific AMA concerns? Just really want to get my NT scan, Panorama done so I can breath a sigh of relief. They brought up how there was an increased risk of Downs in my appointment so I freaked out. It was 1 in 300 when I had DD which is .0033 and now it is .0076. So I am trying to put that into prospective.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 1999

    DD1- Feb 2015
    DD2- EDD 5/12/2019
  • @chloe97 That's not bad for some reason I was thinking 18 months before even getting pregnant... baby brain

@coffeeislife I didnt know they did that.  I guess it makes sense though, last pregnancy I had to redo mine because there wasn't enough fetal DNA in my blood and I was soooo mad.  My BMI is over 30 and my blood draw is scheduled for 10w4d I wonder if I should push it back.
  • Due date/W+D: 10w 1d May 9th

    Age? 37

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?:  STM

Any appointments? Questions?:  next appointment is 10/25.  Check up and I'll get my blood drawn for genetic testing.

Rants/Raves?:  I had an appointment with MFM scheduled for Black Friday.  So good because I am off that day.  They decided to close that day too so now I'm on that Monday which means I have to burn PTO.  Boo!!

Any specific AMA concerns?  Not really.  This is my second time being AMA so I'm just kinda rolling with it.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 1999.  They created a FB group for my class and are already taking about our 20 year reunion next year.  So not jazzed about it.

@chloe97 my doctor asked if I wanted to attempt VBAC or schedule a section.  He said he was good either way.  I'm doing a scheduled CS.

@troystory17 I had DS in February and my OB cleared me to start trying for #2 in July.

@coffeeislife what does your BMI have to do with it?  I've never heard that.  My doctor likes to wait until 12 weeks to make sure there is enough fetal DNA but I've never heard anything about it being weight related.

  • Due date/W+D: 5/6/2019  10 weeks 3 days

    Age? 40

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?:STM (3 year old little girl)

Any appointments? Questions?:Had one yesterday got all my blood drawn for genetic testing and heard the babys heart beat, also got my flu shot.

Rants/Raves?:  Nothing really am just looking to get my results back so I can breathe a little easier.

Any specific AMA concerns? Am hoping for good blood results.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 1997, and I already had my 20 year high school reunion, so crazy, time has flown.

  • Due date/W+D: May 4, 10+6

    Age? 35

    FTM/STM/TTM, etc?: STM

Any appointments? Questions?: I officially registered my panorama (NIPT) test online, so I can begin the obsessive stalking. My blood draw was Monday, so I could expect results as early as next week!

Rants/Raves?: I have had extra appointments with MFM this go around because I have active crohn's and I wanted to thoroughly discuss my birth options. I had a CS last time and was hoping I could VBAC. But it doesn't look like that's in the cards. However, my OB said I could do daily checks at the end to monitor when I should come in for a RCS. As opposed to scheduling a date two months out. (For whatever reason that makes me really uncomfortable, to have Beta come out before they're ready, if I don't have to.)

Any specific AMA concerns? Not at this point. I'm excited to have a more sensitive testing option this time, because the testing last time was within the "safe range" but close enough to be concerning according to my doc. WTF does that mean? Either you're concerned or you're not, and do you need to do any additional testing? Not to mention most of this came up well into my 2nd trimester.

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 2000. Did anyone else's school make a big deal about starting off the new millenium as the "smoke free class of 2000?" just mine? I'm pretty sure we busted that by 1995. I remember getting a class of 2000 sweatshirt in 7th grade and feeling oh so cool.

  • Sorry to post so late (lame, I know), but I didn’t find a newer thread. I’m very interested in the AMA thread and will try to be more active!

    Due date/W+D:  19/9+3

    Age: 41(Truly AMA)

STM: 1 daughter, 11 months old

No appointments until Oct 31, OB visit, followed by the NT scan and maternity 21 on Nov 7th

Nothing to rant or rave about.

I hope that the maternity 21 comes back fine, and feels relatively conclusive when the results come back. I know they give you a statistic and I hope it’s something very low so as to eliminate my AMA concern. I’m not so far from having done my last pregnancy, so I don’t feel my body is overly AMA 😬 since the last AMA pregnancy went fine.

I graduated high school in 1995. Funnily enough though, our class song was here I go again by whitesnake, popular in 1987. I guess our class had an old soul.
  • @pumpkin_belly welcome! So glad to have to another mom born in the 70s with us! I feel you on the NIPT results wait. My draw is next Friday and I know the wait is going to drag.
  • @chloe97 thank you! I work with university students born in the late 90s and I’m like “what does that feel like?” Pretty soon it will be kids born in 2000...

as for the test, I keep debating if I should bump my appointment up or not. Knowing something sooner would be better, but I’m going to keep my appointment as is and just be optimistic!
  • Due date/W+D: 5/15/ 10 weeks

    Age?  39

FTM/STM/TTM, etc?: STM, 5 year old dd

Any appointments? Questions?: just had my first OB appt yesterday after graduating from my RE.

My OB is also giving us the option for RCS or to attempt VBAC- she did say that should would not let me go over a week past my due date and would have to do a CS at that point if not inclabor because they will not induce once having a CS.

Rants/Raves?: I was diagnosed with an SCH- and don’t know why I can’t have an uncomplicated pregnancy.

Any specific AMA concerns? Not at that moment except this darn SCH which can be more complicated the older you are

GTKY: What year did you graduate high school? 1997.  I wasn’t able to go to our 20 year reunion.

  • Due 5/14, 10+2
Age 41. I feel like the old lady in the group!
    STM. Son turned 2 yesterday.

I am just counting the days to my NIPT next Friday. It will make a difference for us and the stats for my age are scary. They don’t account for the husband’s age though and mine is younger so I’ve convinced myself that should make my odds better, despite zero evidence. Everything looked great at my 8 week appointment though!

    class of ‘95!
  • Did you get did you get your results @lovelybabybumpz?

It looks like a big group of us are getting blood drawn next week.
  • @chucksmom15
Yes! Thanks for asking. I posted in the randoms, but everything looked healthy and we're having a baby girl! DD is getting a little sister!
