  • @more14 So exciting!!! Glad everything looked good! I just scheduled mine with the specialist for nov 1st. I'm excited to see an ultrasound where the baby looks like a real baby lol Good luck with your glucose test! I think that's the only test that scares me!

  • How far along are you? 15w4d today

Any appointments? Questions? I had an OB appointment last Thursday, it was just a quick check-in and I got my flu shot. Tomorrow they are doing free ultrasounds (for ultrasound tech students) where I work, so I will get a peek at baby girl!

Rants/Raves? I think my feet are getting bigger, my shoes today suddenly feel too small which is super annoying!!

How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good overall still, though heartburn is getting worse as the weeks go on. Ugh.

GTKY: Has anyone made their pregnancy announcement? If so, what did you do and if not, what are you planning to do? I announced it in a Facebook moms group I'm part of (from back when I had my daughter in 2011) and that was fun because they all know about our infertile journey! I've told people at work and have told most family/friends. No Facebook announcement yet.

@JamieH2000 I haven't watched your video yet because I'm at work but I want to watch it later!!

@kristimh80 - do tell about your heartburn relief variety pack! so far I've been using Tums but I feel like I'm going to be immune soon haha.

  • @uterusdreams I got the Zantac 150 yesterday and so far it's worked miracles! I still keep my tums in my purse, but haven't needed them at all today. Omg about the shoes! I've gone up at least 1/2 a size. So have been sticking to open toed shoes to deal.

    Any appointments? Questions?

    OB appt next week.

    Rants/Raves?

Just started cleaning out what will be the baby's room (and is currently an "office", aka room full of junk)! A lot of work to do before we get to the decorating stage but I've never been so motivated to clear out junk before :)

    How are you feeling?

For some reason I escaped the *having to pee all the time* until now, but boy has it hit me. I'm constantly thirsty and then constantly having to pee. Fun fun because I have a bit of a walk to the washroom at work! Otherwise feeling good.

GTKY: Has anyone made their pregnancy announcement? If so, what did you do and if not, what are you planning to do?

We told our parents right away. Told close friends after ours 9 week u/s. Started spreading the word to family at 12 weeks. Just did a FB announcement yesterday. Nothing fancy, just a classic u/s pic :)

    Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Canadians.

  • Thanks!! Well I just did a quad screen and another NIPT test with maternt21 this time. Depending on those results may go forward with amnio. But good news for today. They’re concerned maybe something is wrong with my placenta so will go one step at a time. Next step is to hear the quad screen results. All so stressful but glad we didn’t get bad news today.
  • @drove2u I was going to ask about doing it with a different company - maybe that'll help.  So glad today was good news!  Is the placenta concern because of the test being inconclusive or did they see something with it on the US?

@kristimh80 Open toed shoes are a genius idea! It's still been warm here lately but of course now tomorrow it will be 50 for a high and it looks like that's how it's going to stay. Oops.

  • @Drove2u
The perinatologist (high risk pregnancy doc) I saw in the hospital when I was admitted for pre-eclampsia says that placental issues seem happen with greater frequency in IVF pregnancies -- which he thinks accounts for the higher risk of pre-eclampsia (because a theory is that pre-E is caused by placental proteins breaking off and becoming debris in the bloodstream). In general, it's something they can monitor and keep an eye on if they're concerned, so more knowledge is good IMO. It sounds like so far there's nothing horribly alarming which is awesome! Just need to take it one day at a time and trust that your doctors are looking out for you and baby! And grats on your future little boy!! I have zero experience with boys haha -- my sister's kiddos are both girls and I have a girl. We're very girl-oriented apparently! But I've heard moms say little boys are very lovey and sweet!

I just had my OB appt and true to one of the reasons I don’t like this office is he basically had no idea about the arrhythmia until he read through my chart with me in the room.  So annoying to me - is this just how they all are?  I mean I really like him but not that I don’t feel like my care is followed unless I’m sitting in their office.

Anyway, he said it’s premature contractions so there are extra beats and then longer pauses, and that the heartbeat is “irregularly irregular”, meaning the premature contractions are random and not like every so many beats, which he said is better.  He said he either never or has very rarely had a case where it didn’t resolve at birth.  He did say I can have an ultrasound every 3/4 weeks to check babies growth (for my peace of mind).  So I go back 11/1 for regular appt and u/s and then go biweekly for OB and we will figure out when next US is then.

  • @mayflower513 Ugh,l that is annoying...usually they read the chart before seeing you. But on the bright side, I'm glad he gave you a little peace of mind overall and was able to explain everything. I go to my high risk dr on the 1st for AS...maybe I'll tell me the same and we can be on u/s schedules together :) I feel like after IF, the extra ultrasounds are so nice no matter how much we tell ourselves we are ok.

  • mayflower513 the placenta concern is due to the low fetal fraction results of 1.2% in the Panorama test. It should be at least 10%. So the reasons for low fetal fractions are: 1. Overweight which I’m not. 2. Test done too early, which it wasn’t 3. Just because 4. Placental problems. They didn’t see anything wrong in the ultrasound. So the Quad Screen plus the Maternt21 will let us know if I should go forward with an amnio.

That’s so annoying about your doc but I’ve also had experiences like that. Where they ask me all these questions again and again and I’m like “it’s all in my chart, dude” read it before you come in here. That’s good you will get extra US. And it doesn’t sound like the baby has any alarming heart issues. As I mentioned before, my daughter has heart issues and we visit a cardiologist every 6 months and all is ok. She still may need angioplasty but we will worry about that when and if the time comes. I know it’s so hard, but try not to stress because no matter what it’ll be ok!

Thanks so much @halips and @uterusdreams and yes a boy! I have no idea what do with that information lol. I’m used to having a girl!!

@uterusdreams 50 degrees? Oh my! It’s so hot and humid here in Pa and NYC still.

mbradfo2 hahaha I know! I have no experience with boys either so this will be interesting for sure. Interesting about IVF causing higher placental issues. My daughter was conceived through a fresh transfer and I literally had ZERO problems. So I’m curious why this time it’s so different. I didn’t have pre-e or GD or any type of issues last time.

JamieH2000 yes! I hope they come back ASAP too. We are both having a boy so that’s exciting. Will keep you updated.

more14 I did Qnatal with my first and all was perfect. This time panorama. And now waiting for maternit21 results so will see what comes out of that.

kristimh80  with my first pregnancy for the first 16 weeks I wanted so many ultrasounds but then realized Doppler and hearing the heartbeat at the docs office was ok. then I started having weekly appointments and that just because annoying. Lol. Went from wanting to be at the docs every day to not wanting to go at all. Ha! This time, will all these issues I want to go in every day now.

  • @prudence9-2- glad you liked it :) thank you!

@mayflower513- that is frustrating :( I think its probably the norm to not read the chart until you are there, but perhaps there are some exceptions out there. Would you consider switching at this point? Maybe some friends in the area would have some recos? Also, that sounds VERY hopeful about the heartbeat resolving by birth! and i think its perfectly reasonable to monitor you more for peace of mind! Perhaps the HB will correct itself soon!

oh man, issues with OBs...I love my regular OB but after baby was born a little early, I had to see one of his partners for my postpartum blood pressure check. At the appointment, the nurse checked my bp and it was still a bit high. I got roomed and when the OB (mind you, this was the OB who discharged me from the hospital after my OB did the c/s) walked in, she looked at my chart and then me with my ankles still all swollen up and said, ‘I’m sorry but I’m going to have to send you over to the hospital.’

My heart literally stopped and she said, ‘it looks like you have pre-e and we need to monitor you and baby.’

me: ‘but I just had the baby two days ago...’

she had no idea who I was and that my baby had already arrived AND she discharged me from hospital. My mom was with me and she was super annoyed (as was I). A nice lady but yeah....I know they have a lot of patients but seriously? And so not helpful for my bp in the moment haha

Thank you @drove2u @jamieh2000@mbradfo2!  I’m feeling pretty good about it but I also freak out about it every now and then.  @mbradfo2 omg I would have been livid.  That’s the type of shit my place would do.  The first thing the doctor said today was that he thinks he recalled my SCHs had been shrinking.  Um, dude, they’ve been gone for like 10 weeks... onto the irregular heartbeat you know nothing about.  I don’t know if I’ll realistically switch at this point because while they don’t seem to know my shit until I’m in the room I have all my appointments scheduled out through December so it’s easier to just stay.

@drove2u got it - I figured it was something to do with that.  Well, since all looks good on US so far with baby, I’m really hoping it was just a fluke.  Hopefully you get the results back soon!

    @Drove2u
As far as fresh vs frozen transfers, most of the research I read was fairly limited but it suggests there are some differences in the rate of certain complications or outcomes between the two. Frozen transfer births tend to be bigger babies, but there was also a higher risk of pre-E, particularly in twin pregnancies. But I don't think there's really enough research to say one way or another -- some studies even suggested frozen transfers had better overall outcomes as I recall. The major difference starts when you bring ICSI into the picture, but whether that's the demographics of patients utilizing ICSI for fertilization or something that specifically relates to ICSI, it's hard to say at this point. Most of this research is fascinating but very much in its infancy.

    @mayflower513
It's such a pain to switch at a later date too; are you happy with any of the OB's you see? Sometimes they won't let you switch after a certain point.
And yes, I was pretty upset by the whole thing since I had been terrified going to the appointment that they would somehow send me back to the hospital and I would be separated from my little girl. My mom's a doctor (general practice) and she had spent most of the drive over there convincing me that it wouldn't happen...so she was extremely upset by it, to say the least. And I don't -dislike- the OB who I saw, really, she's a decent doctor and has been very pleasant with me in the past....I felt it was just mishandled. I was very happy that she discharged me early from the hospital -- they usually like you to stay 72 hrs after the mag and c/s, but I got her to discharge me at 48 hours since baby was ready to go home and I was sick of the place. I was just shocked she completely forgot about it! There weren't -that- many patients of their group on the floor from what I could tell.

  • @mbradfo2 yes I actually do like this OB it’s just the lack of following my care when I’m not there that I don’t like.  I like another woman in the practice too that I probably should be scheduling my appointments with but now I’m scheduled through 36 weeks with this guy.  Maybe he’ll start remembering my shit eventually.
