If others disagree, I'm open to putting a flat out ban on weight conversations, just offering up an opinion. I think everyone can agree it's better to not lose weight in the first trimester but it might be hard for some to see others having numbers going down while they're gaining weight considering how our society places its values.

First off I’m not a fan of any pregnancy related topic being outright banned on the board. We are all struggling with our own issues and making certain things feel even more taboo can lead to some feeling even more alone in their frustrations and concerns. This should be a place where we can feel comfortable discussing what we are going through with even other, and weight gain or loss during pregnancy is something I can understand people being concerned about.
On the other side, it can be really easy for weight related discussions to get competitive and judgmental - even if that may not be the original intention of whoever is posting. I know I personally do not plan on stepping on a scale at all throughout my pregnancy. My doctor can know my weight, and I’ve already asked that he not give me my actual numbers - just feedback on whether or not I’m on track. The last thing I want is to feel pressure to have to lose weight during pregnancy.
Personally the thing I think would be best is if discussion of weight was limited to threads specifically made for that topic. I can easily skip over a thread labeled as weight related discussion, where as I can’t avoid weight related conversation that shows up in the symptoms/weekly check ins/Randoms etc.. threads. I also feel like discussing specific numbers can open things up to becoming competitive - but if that’s what people want I’m ok with it as long as it’s easy to avoid reading through.
Sorry, I know that as long. I should really learn to keep things more brief
I know for me weight has been an issue my whole life. Having PCOS just increases the importance of weight. And it was one of the big reasons I chose the Dr I'm seeing. He let me bring it up and then helped me make a plan for pregnancy and beyond.
The competition over weight gain or loss is disturbing so I get wanting to limit that.
I thought beating my weight and getting pregnant was going to be the end of it. Thank you for the insight.
Thanks for bringing up such a great points, ladies!
Especially for the mama's who end up with GD. My last BMB was not very supportive when struggling GD mom's would try to ask for input or advice. I was really struggling and struggling with my weight which led to me being voted most dramatic of the group. One of the ladies who had GD and was overweight came crying and asking for advice because she was so upset she broke her scale one morning stepping on it. She was made fun of with Gifs! She was a regular and had always participated and as far as I had ever seen never been super dramatic. But she was given runner up of 2nd most dramatic on the group just for that one post the whole 9 months!
I do think 2 separate groups could be beneficial. But then I wonder where would the moms who are trying to just stay on track with what weight range we are given fall if we are on track? Because if we are on track for being over weight and GD we won't fit into either group because we won't be gaining too much or not enough.
Pregnancy #2 Natural Miscarriage at 6 weeks 03/2014 Due date 11/9/2014
Pregnancy #3 DS 02.23.2015
Pregnancy #4 Missed Miscarriage at 11 weeks 11/2018 Due date 5/22/2019
Pregnancy #5 Positive test 12/11/2019 Due Date 8/17/2020
ETA it could be weekly like the stm, pgal, etc ones.
I think a check in would be a bit too much because I feel like people quit reading them and just post so a sort of randoms thread for GD would be great. That way we aren't clogging threads up with our carb advice and theories and whether keto is the way to go.
