I'm trying to get everything in order so I am selfishly starting this list so maybe we can help remind each other of the last minute things we still need to do!
What's still on your to do list before baby comes?
- order pump (I couldn't do it any earlier than today) - get carseat out, wipe it down along with the bases, install bases - put clothes, blankets, etc away in dresser (in the middle of doing this right now) - pack baby's hospital bag - pack what I can for my hospital bag - get out all the things baby lays in/on and wash the washable parts - DH needs to make wall shelves to put books on this week/weekend - some decor we ordered will hopefully be here in the next weekish so we can get it on the walls - get DS a big brother gift from baby

TTGP December Siggy Co-Winner: Favorite Moments from Holiday Movies/TV
most of the baby prep we’ve been doing the last week has been stuff that we know we will put off or not have time for once the babies are here— -get haircuts -wash the cars and clean their interiors -clip animal nails and groom them -make sure the food pantry is stocked. also, the bathroom closet is stocked with extra soap, tp, toothpaste, etc.. -get out thank you cards
According to the list I made for the hubs and I: - pack our hospital bags - install the car seats - organize our cache of diapers (that is currently taking up my entire dining room) - make arrangements for someone to care for our dogs while we're in the hospital - Find a new vehicle for DH (the current truck is too small for 2 rear facing car seats to fit)
I'm sure there's a lot more, but we have the basics...I think.
So something told me last week to get my crap together. We got the car seat put in, and all the baby stuff washed, organized and set up. I cleaned up and reorganized our room to get ready for the baby to sleep with us and did all our laundry. All that we really need to do now is some grocery shopping and picking up the house after our tornado toddler tears it up! Lol I’m so happy whatever kicked in with me last week because it was super nice to come home from the hospital and be able to relax for the weekend.
Buy/set up the cosleeper. Sterilize bottles and pump parts. Convert toddler bed back to crib. Pick a name already. Set up basket of goodies and birth plans for hospital staff. Husband wants to install car seat when the baby is born this time, instead of before.
This past weekend I felt like I made progress just setting up the pack and play downstairs and the diaper changing stations. I've already laundered all the baby clothes and put them away, so in some ways I feel slightly ahead of the game.
- Set up bassinet - finish decorating nursery - Install car seats - order extra car seat bases - Buy baby monitors - Get bath stuff and medicine together for the baby - Wash and put away all clothes and blankets - Pack hospital bag - Pack diaper bag - Double check on breast pump (I think my doctor puts in the order once in hospital and I use a handpump from the hospital until the other one arrives) - Make some freezer meals and a little closer to time buy a bunch of easy to make stuff for DH & DS
- charge camera and battery packs (done) - pack my girls an overnight bag (done) - put together the cube shelves for the baby's room and finish the decor - Get dogs groomed (already scheduled) - Decorate for Halloween (done)/ do pumpkin patch - Get a trim on my own hair
-convince DH to move around the damn car seats and install the infant seat base (for going on three weeks now...it’s fine, he can do it in the hospital parking lot if he never does it, haha)
- FMLA paperwork to my supervisor
- see if my OB will fill out short term disability paperwork before delivery based on EDD or if we need to wait until I deliver
ETA: Get the baby swing out! Another thing I asked DH to do already that he didn’t do....
For my to do's: - find / make sure book shelf - wash 0-3 month clothes - organize bath and medicine things - wash cover for mamaroo, car seat, bassinet, and play mat thingy - pack hospital bag - first decide what to put in hospital bag - figure out when I change my insurance to add the baby - Fmla and fsa hr questions - pre registration for hospital
I’ve done nothing. I’m probably way too relaxed about everything bc DD1 was nine days late and I’m currently only 35+1. With my luck this one will end up being early and I’ll have nothing done still, lol. I should probably at least pack a hospital bag.
Finish packing hospital bag (need toiletries! And snacks! And underwear!) Convince DH to pack a hospital bag for himself, and get a tdap shot Re-install car seat (we had guests from out of town, so needed to take it out) More freezer meals More laundry Write thank you notes Put away shower gifts Investigate cat groomers (for nail trimming) Write a birth plan Give friend a key for caring for dog/cat Choose a pediatrician Realize this is actually happening

@iheartbooks Same. Our washing machine broke this week, and the movers are coming to pack all our stuff up in 11 days, so I feel like my hands are tied. I can't even start washing baby clothes right now. This, too, shall pass, I guess. Trying to stay calm!
The whole nursery. Ha. It's currently piles of clothes I need to get rid of from our daughter. I started packing the hospital bag though. Maternity photos this Saturday. Baby Shower on the 21st.
Feeling pretty good, but you guys have reminded me about some things!
- We have a swing with a detachable rock n play type of thing so I've been on the fence about whether we actually need the separate rock n play. Maybe put it together just in case? - Sterilize breast pump and bottles - do we need to do this if everything is brand new? Or is just giving it a quick hand wash ok? - Lactation and infant care classes are scheduled for this weekend - Ah, forgot - have husband pack his hospital bag and put in the car with mine
@ginny_203 I got the medela steam bags same as @mockingjay1 . You can only do two bottles at a time but it's just so easy. You can use each bag 20 times so they go a long way! Link in spoiler.
One more question about this--boiling/steaming them is better than the dishwasher? Or should it be used in addition to washing them in the dishwasher?

Thanks ladies! Dumb question, but can you use the Medela steam bags for a Spectra pump? Obvious FTM post here
You can use the Medela steam bags for anything. It's literally just like a thick plastic bag with a zip lock on top, so you can sanitize any brands in it.
One more question about this--boiling/steaming them is better than the dishwasher? Or should it be used in addition to washing them in the dishwasher?
You really just need to sanitize the parts with boiling water before the first use. After that, you can wash them in the dishwasher or hand wash them. That said, I did sanitize my pump parts frequently, but that was only because I didn't wash them after every use, so I wanted to be extra sure they were clean.
Goodness we all have so much to do! Here's my list: -finish hospital bag, - set up carseat & bases - clean the bathrooms -finish decorations in nursery - organize bottles & pump stuff - make padcicles
I know there is more but that's all that is coming to mind for now
@ftm_jen - haha, I know, seems silly but the midwife swore by them. Putting aloe vera gel and non-alcoholic witch hazel and lavender on a few pads then put them in the freezer. Eh, I figure it can't hurt to make them and see if I like them later.
@kamahina9@ftm_jen I used to see the term "padsicles" all over Pinterest when I was younger, and I always thought, 'If I see that term one more time, I swear, I'm never having kids.' It grossed me out so much. Now I'm like, 'Shoot, what was that padsicle recipe again? Must make time to make some before baby arrives.' Ooooh, how things change.
Re: Last Minute Checklist
Obviously, this list will happen even after baby is born, haha.

- put clothes, blankets, etc away in dresser (in the middle of doing this right now)
- pack baby's hospital bag
- pack what I can for my hospital bag
