I am thinking of getting a lightweight travel convertible car seat for my two year old because we have two RT plane trips coming up and then rental car stuff on the other side, and his Diono is a zillion pounds. Have any of you found one you particularly recommend. I have scoured all the blogs and reviews but have not found a clear standout. Goals are safety, lightweight, ease/speed of installation, and ok for a tall kid.
I really want a trip trap! But they’re so expensive. It especially stings because those types of high chairs are the default in Scandinavia, and they’re really not that pricey over there. Of course, buying one for cheap in Norway and sending it over here would be even more expensive. I’ll see what we’ll do.

I found a beautiful wood high chair second hand that I absolutely love. If you have something in mind that you want you can start looking now and might find one before you need it.
@sjnsjnsjn the grandparents on either side and my husband all have the graco contender. It’s easy to install and pretty lightweight and you can often get it on sale for under $100. It’s #4 rated car seat on consumer reports. We have been really happy with it and DD likes it too.
The Tripp Trapp is totally worth it - we have used it for two kids now and will use it with our third. Definitely have gotten our money out of it. We bought it when DD was like 6 months old on Amazon on cyber Monday.
@grebretso we bought the keekaroo for DS. They also have infant inserts to make it a high chair like the Tripp trapp. I really like it! It’s sturdy and easy to clean.
Register for EVERYTHING big. You never know what someone will want to buy you. Then, if no one gifts it to you, you can wait/ search for the best price.
@hannahbananas11 for baby 1 we registered for and received the graco 4 in 1. If was super expensive and is really nice. For baby 2, I found it easier to use the IKEA $20 high chair. It is all one piece which means that for cleaning time, I sprayed it down with the hose or tossed it in the bath.
With your first... how did you feel the first time someone other than your partner held baby? I was thinking bout this today... i probably wont wanna share.

Honestly I was anxious about it. Not to much with my parents and siblings, but I had a lot of extended family stop by and want to hold her. My first was born in February also, so still during flu season. I had lots of hand sanitizer, limited interactions, and learned just to say no sometimes.
@cass06_07 - it was fine for me, but this is the first non summer baby so I’ll be more freaked out about germs this time for sure. You’ll get lots of time and won’t mind sharing that much.
@cass06_07 - With my first, I was probably more anxious about it than I expected. I quickly realized there is LOTS of time to hold baby (hellooooo overnights!) so you don't miss too much.
With my second, I was far more laid back and happy to hand him off so I could eat or poop for 10 seconds.
With my third, I foresee myself being like the mom in the Huggies commercial who hands her kid to the mechanic with the dirty hands so she can get something done.
Good points. I guess it's more so I know work will want me to visit... and well, Lol. I guess the up side is I can wait til early spring to do that April or May, when they aren't so teeny tiny.
Re: Ask a STM week of October 1
As for high chairs, get a trip trap. Worth every penny.
