Did anyone give birth at a freestanding birthing center?

If so, how soon did you have to reserve a spot to do so?

    I did. I never had to "reserve a spot" so to speak. I called a few days after I first found out I was pregnant (the day my period was due), and they scheduled me right in. 

    Fwiw, the first time I was there several weeks later, I did overhear the receptionist talking on the phone about having to turn people away because another birth center had recently closed down and many of their clients were shopping around for a new center.
