I am thinking of getting a lightweight travel convertible car seat for my two year old because we have two RT plane trips coming up and then rental car stuff on the other side, and his Diono is a zillion pounds. Have any of you found one you particularly recommend.  I have scoured all the blogs and reviews but have not found a clear standout.  Goals are safety, lightweight, ease/speed of installation, and ok for a tall kid.

  • TBH, we just tell very few people I’m in labor.

As for high chairs, get a trip trap. Worth every penny.

  • I really want a trip trap! But they’re so expensive. It especially stings because those types of high chairs are the default in Scandinavia, and they’re really not that pricey over there. Of course, buying one for cheap in Norway and sending it over here would be even more expensive. I’ll see what we’ll do.

  • I found a beautiful wood high chair second hand that I absolutely love. If you have something in mind that you want you can start looking now and might find one before you need it.
  • @sjnsjnsjn the grandparents on either side and my husband all have the graco contender. It’s easy to install and pretty lightweight and you can often get it on sale for under $100. It’s #4 rated car seat on consumer reports. We have been really happy with it and DD likes it too.
  • Good idea, @wifemomme! I just did a cursory search on Facebook marketplace, and found 4 tripp trapp chairs for under $100 in my city.
  • The Tripp Trapp is totally worth it - we have used it for two kids now and will use it with our third. Definitely have gotten our money out of it. We bought it when DD was like 6 months old on Amazon on cyber Monday.

  • @grebretso we bought the keekaroo for DS. They also have infant inserts to make it a high chair like the Tripp trapp.  I really like it! It’s sturdy and easy to clean.

  • @hannahbananas11 for baby 1 we registered for and received the graco 4 in 1. If was super expensive and is really nice. For baby 2, I found it easier to use the IKEA $20 high chair. It is all one piece which means that for cleaning time, I sprayed it down with the hose or tossed it in the bath.
  • With your first... how did you feel the first time someone other than your partner held baby?  I was thinking bout this today... i probably  wont wanna share.

Honestly I was anxious about it. Not to much with my parents and siblings, but I had a lot of extended family stop by and want to hold her. My first was born in February also, so still during flu season. I had lots of hand sanitizer, limited interactions, and learned just to say no sometimes.

@cass06_07 - it was fine for me, but this is the first non summer baby so I’ll be more freaked out about germs this time for sure. You’ll get lots of time and won’t mind sharing that much.
