  • Check in today went well. Doc is happy with all my blood work. Go back on the 12th for my first ultrasound at almost 10 weeks and scheduled the ultrasound for sex on Nov 20th.
  • @bpietronicco yay for graduation!
  • @secicc12 so I'm curious, since you didn't have a LMP to go off of, did they make your official EDD 2 days ahead? I've heard they won't change it if it's within 3 days (either way) of your LMP but without one, I'm just curious if they went off your OPK data as gospel the same way they'd consider an LMP?

  • @kvh22 I told her our conception date and then the date I believed I ovulated (2 days later, that's the date I was basing my EDD off of). She said the baby was measuring exactly on the conception date so she just changed my EDD to match. I feel like they're more likely to switch things around without any LMP to go from. Curious to see how your dating u/s goes!

  • @secicc12 glad your appointment went so well and your EDD moved up a bit :) I'm super curious about the dating u/s as well  :D I'm also planning to ask if I misinterpreted the instructions to not get pregnant within 12 months of DD's birth (too late now). I ovulated 4-5 days after her 1st birthday but went off the pill at 11 months even though my OB told me to stay on it when I asked to go off it at 9 months (I was just worried about getting my period back). I'm actually surprised by the number of questions I have as a STM in general.

@kvh22 did you have a csection with your first LO? That is the only reason I’ve heard to wait 12 months after a caection before conceiving again to avoid placental eruption, which is more common. I actually had an oops that turned into a CP when DD was 9 months and was freaking out, but my OB said as long as the baby was delivered at 18 months there was less risk of placental eruption.

That being said, conceiving right after your LO’s first birthday seems like it would be within any OBs parameters unless there were complications. I know there are more studies about birth spacing and child outcomes in general, but unfortunately AMA moms don’t really have the luxury of debating birth spacing.

No complications, vaginal delivery, but I was slightly anemic at the end of my pregnancy. I didn't have an extended conversation with my OB about it but basically maternal and fetal outcomes are better if you wait 12 months (iron stores and risk of preterm labor being the biggest things). If you don't become anemic and carry to term, then screw the research, though. I think since I became slightly anemic, this was part of the concern. I had DD at 28 and will be 30 with this LO so no rush on the birth spacing (at least that 3 months would impact although I do want about 2 years between kids and to have 3-4). I've heard others say for a vaginal delivery, their OB said 9 months so I think it depends both on your individual circumstances (delivery of previous kid(s), age, preterm risk factors, iron levels) as well as your OB's philosophy. I was fine waiting the 12 months although started to get a little baby crazy around 9 months, otherwise I would have had a conversation with her more in depth as to why. I'm not worried I'll get scolded or anything, just curious now if 12 months was supposed to start at the beginning of the cycle or when we actually conceived.

  • @wishiwaspreggo I also keep thinking of this baby as a girl and really need to stop. I was right about feeling like my DS was a boy but I’m only 50% confident I’m right this time around.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge that's about how confident you should be, right?

  • @brie_and_almonds @DuchessOfCambridge my mom guessed we were having a girl with DD early on. We were team green and she never said anything about being right after DD was born but when I started showing she said I carried like she did with me and my sister so she still thought girl. For some reason this always bothered DH even though his mom guessed girl, too, but not nearly as early. Afterwards just to me, DH was always like "well, you have a 50/50 shot so even if your right, you didn't really know."

@brie_and_almonds yes, that was an attempt at a joke. Attempt being the key word I suppose 🤣

ETA - that’s also how confident I was about DS being a boy haha, obviously I didn’t *know*, but the boy feeling was strong. I don’t necessarily feel like this is a girl, just keep thinking of him/her as one. Wishful thinking, maybe.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge - Every time I complain about my symptoms my friends keep telling me "Sounds like a girl!" But I dunno, obviously it's a 50/50 shot and plenty of people get morning sickness and food aversions with boys. But my gut instinct says girl, too. I like to think I have an uncanny sense here though. I was thinking about my friend who I hadn't seen in a while and thought "I wonder if she's pregnant." I had no reason to think that, she didn't have any kids yet and she never talked about wanting them. Sure enough, the next time I saw her she told me she was pregnant. I've done that with a few other friends, pictured them pregnant and then finding out later they are. I've been wrong, too, though. I kept having pregnancy dreams about a former friend of mine (we had a huge falling out after she married a homophobic pastor) but I think I did that because I knew she really, really wanted to start a family which is why she rushed into marriage with this dude so it probably got stuck in my head that it would happen right away. But nope, no babies and I still haven't heard anything all these years later but who knows.

Sorry for the Dear Diary lol... it's just fun to share my crazy anonymously ;)
  • Had my first US today. Such a relief to finally see there really is a baby in there. I’m measuring 8 weeks 5 days (4 days later than I thought) but guessing my doctor won’t change anything. I will have a repeat c section anyhow so I’m assuming my due date will be pushed up at least a week when we schedule. Next appointment is the 19th and that will be my first one with the OB.
  • Just finished my first appt! Everything went well with the new doctor. I'm a little bummed about the US though. He said sometimes they can see a baby at 6 weeks sometimes they can't. He saw the sac and the yolk which is everything he wanted to see and said everything looks perfect for 6 weeks. Makes me a touch nervous because others with posted ultrasounds have seen the baby and the flickering heartbeat at that or even less. But I'm taking his word that all is well. I'll go back in four weeks for a regular visit and he days we'll look again, and I'll have the NT scan in six weeks.

  • My u/s is in the am and I’m freaking out because since about 2 pm today I’ve not been feeling very pregnant at all. This is total PGAL brain, but outside of an intense craving for Chicken McNuggets (which i scarfed down immediately), I’m feeling normal. Not tired. Not queasy when looking at food. Not queasy at all.- I was super gabby this morning and almost threw up, but then was fine.  DH is so confident, but I just don’t feel that way. So symptoms just disappear for hours at a time?
  • @chloe97 my symptoms disappear for random chunks of time too. It makes me nervous but we just had our second ultrasound today and everything looks perfect, so I think symptoms coming and going is normal!
  • @chloe97 my symptoms tend to come and go. I feel worse in the mornings and right before lunch but usually feel my normal self between noon and 7. Some days I feel better than others too. I had my US today and all was fine. It’s hard not to analyze whether you’re  feeling every symptom “right” but there is so much diversity even between pregnancies that I wouldn’t read to much into it. For the record I had no nausea or anything when I was pregnant with ds1 and he was also ok.
  • Fingers crossed for you @chloe97. I understand your worry. Most days I don't notice any pregnancy symptoms.

@blessedinmt @aels12 @Stormiewinter Thank you thank you thank you! Just what I needed to hear. I think so often I get caught up in the symptoms thread and think I’m the only one having these “normal” times. I mean this morning I had a few waves of “am I going to puke?”. So you would think that would be enough.

  • It's not enough for me either @chloe97. For that reason, today is the first time I've opened one of the symptom threads.

By the way, I think we're the same age (39), if I'm remembering from some of your earlier posts. That weirdly makes me like you more...so much so that I'm willing to forgive the fact that you're a Cubs fan. Go Cards!  ;)

Yes! I am 39 and just going to (hopefully) get this baby in before turning 40. Woot! Sorry you are a Cardinals fan 😉. It was fun ending the cardinals season this year, but then of course we had our epic meltdown to end the year. Sigh. There’s always next year!
  • @chloe97 my brain plays tricks on me like that to. Dare I say sometimes I "hope" for symptoms because I'm not having any and dont feel pregnant and then I start to worry irrationally.
  • @chloe97 symptoms are definitely coming and going for me too.  I'd say up until yesterday, aside from insomnia (which I often have not pregnant too) and very occasional nausea (like every few days, and then just a wave that passed quickly)  I was mostly symptom free.  Yesterday food aversions (new pregnancy symptom for me) kicked in.  I've only suffered one loss, and it was a long time ago before either of my girls were born, so I don't really consider myself PGAL right now, but I do remember that feeling from when I was pregnant with DD1 and it is so hard.  I hope your scan goes well tomorrow and gives you some piece of mind so that you can sit back and enjoy your low symptom pregnancy a little more  :)

  • @chloe97 my symptoms have been coming and going too. I had a whole day and a half this week where I felt 100% normal, no nausea, not exhausted, not bloated, just normal. It freaked me out, but it was kinda nice at the same time. Then, I was driving DD home from school on the second day and the nausea started to set back in, and by the time I was home, I was exhausted too. It was super weird, but I don't think it really meant anything.

  • We had our 8 week appointment today - moved my due date up one day since it wasn't based off LMP, but my temp spike after ovulation. Baby measured 8 weeks exactly which lined up with what my OB thinks was the conception date. DH was like "wait so you don't eyeroll this temp tracking stuff?" to the OB  :D She was like "It's actually really useful in situations like this where the period doesn't line up at all." (My LMP puts baby at 11 weeks, not 8 weeks). I feel so vindicated since DH was frustrated with my tracking since he ended up getting up to get DD in the morning while I temped.

It's less than 2 years after doing this with DD but they are now offering the NIPT (they called it NIPS) as well as carrier screening for $350 each. I'm a little tempted although we're team green so don't want to know the sex. We'll still do the nuchal translucency and blood test either way. I'm team "more information is better" but also not high risk so didn't consider these tests last time. I'll discuss with DH.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge @wishiwaspreggo I think this might be a girl too. But I was CERTAIN DS was a girl 😂 which is so weird because ever since I was in high school I've been certain my first baby would be a boy and he'd have a behavioral disorder. Such a strange thing to guess, but I even dreamt it as a teenager. I was sure. But all old wives tales were girl. I was so nauseous, his HR was 164, I hated the thought of meat. This time I'm craving sweets, preferably fruit,  throwing up, which I didn't do with my son, and HR was 134... So I just have no clue. I've always pictured just being a boy mom. But the more I think it's a girl, the more I kind of want it to be. I'll be thrilled with whatever, but I don't know. I'm obviously a bad guesser. Oh, and that ring thing said boy, girl, stop. So.... I don't know 😂
  • Had my first appointment today and the little nugget was measuring on the nose with LMP-8w3d. HB 170. Feeling like I can breathe a little! Go back for NIPT in three weeks.

Love the page in my handouts that highlights risks of chromosomal defects by maternal age. /sarcasm.
  • @kvh22, I had the same experience as you with Hubble being super annoyed at having to get DS while I temped! I have my first appt this week, so I’ll see if my OB adjusts my dates based on LMP vs O date (seemed a bit off the “standard” to me). Also, as for pregnancy spacing, I was always told 18 months between deliveries, mostly for moms to allow sufficient recovery time and to replenish their nutrient stores for the subsequent pregnancy. I’m pretty sure that’s regardless of delivery type, but don’t quote me on this last tidbit. Either way, with your daughter being around 12 months when you conceived, it sounds like you’d be okay!
@chloe97, glad the US went well! And glad for everyone else’s good appointments this week! I’m just 7 weeks today, so nothing until mid-week...getting closer to joining in on the fun, though!
