@mrsmang tears over here too. I love Disney so much and this is one reason why. I'm so happy that such a scary experience turned in to such a heart warming one.
BTW we are thinking about a Disney trip for my DD1 s 10th birthday. I went all the time when she was little, but never while pregnant. Any tips? What rides are you going on?
@mrsmang glad you are ok. I love Disney! Usually they go above and beyond ( but the last time we were there we had a totally different experience but that's another story lol)
We went to buy buy baby today to figure out a new carseat for DD. We need to move her behind the driver's seat. Her current carseat is too big to fit when DH drives. We ended up buying a Diono 3 in 1 because that's the only one that has capability of forward facing at 20 lbs. Whew what a pretty penny and thank goodness for the 20%off coupon!
@galactickates same!! I like to think I'm a pretty good cook, but will never attempt his mom's Mexican recipes. Sooo good. She always has like 5 homemade salsas too
I'm officially nesting and everything in my house has to be cleaned right now!! I scrubbed down our ceiling fans today and did a Pinteresty clean of my sink and garbage disposal, lol.
I've been looking up deep cleaning lists and made a daily schedule for myself to get everything done.
Thank you everyone! I was so relieved that my gut was right and everything looked ok. I definitely cried happy tears with all the nice things they did for us, and especially when I walked into the room and read that note. It totally reaffirms my feelings about Disney as an amazing place to vacation. While we still travel the country and the world seeing new places, I will always want to come back “home” to Disney resorts as well. Luckily my MIL lives just a few hours away so we will be able to combine visits to her with trips to Disney World pretty easily! This is one of the many reasons I will defend coming here and loving it even without kids. We can’t wait to bring our daughter here someday as soon as we feel like she’s old enough!
@mrsmang I'm glad everything is ok. I think what the resort did for you was incredibly sweet. We have never been to Disney but are thinking about going in April with some friends of ours. My friends husband is in the Coast Guard and they are in Florida but may be moving in may (they wont know until February) And he gets a nice discount for Disney so it's a hard opportunity to pass up. My only hesitation is that baby will only be about 2-3 months old so I'm unsure how that will go.
@drabong88 I’ve obviously never done that, but I can say that I’ve seen some pretty tiny babies here this trip, so if definitely can be done. They’re almost all in wraps or carriers. I would think it’s almost easier than an older infant because they would sleep easier anywhere and be lighter to carry, but I’ve never had a baby so I’m not the best to opine. Sounds like a great opportunity though, and I’m sure all the cast members would help take care of anything you need. The baby care centers are supposedly amazing!
ETA: @molosmiles I actually feel like I rode and did a decent amount of stuff! Obviously not the thrill rides, but we got DH fast passes for those so I never had to wait too long for him. I found myself really enjoying the shows and longer indoor attractions for the AC and seats, like Monsters Inc Laugh Floor or Carousel of Progress. Also, one tip in general for Disney that a lot of people I think know but maybe not, is any quick service or stand with a soda fountain will give you free ice water, so no need to buy a million water bottles or drink Florida tap water. I also had a fan, but depending on when you come it should hopefully start cooling down a bit here soon. We’ve come in early November before and had more comfortable weather then.
I can't wait to take our kids to Disney! Were planning on going to Aulani for our 10 year anniversary in 2021 and then hopefully going to Disney a year or two after that.
I wanted to gauge opinions on something that happened to me today. Let me be clear: I'm not asking for medical advice. I've already talked to my doctor's office. I know what Braxton Hicks contractions feel like; I had them all pregnancy with DS. This morning as I was on my way to daycare to drop off DS, I started having contractions. Then I started to cramp slightly. When I got to work, I started pounding water, and alternating standing and sitting in my office (I have a stand-up desk). I made sure I checked all the blocks before I called my doctor. At that point, I was getting about 4-5 per hour. I finally caved in and called at 9:15 a.m. The nurse took down my concerns and said she would talk to the doc and get back to me. It's 1:25 p.m., and she JUST NOW called me back. The contractions have close to stopped. I'm annoyed that it took almost three hours for her to get back to me. I don't expect to be treated like a princess, but am I out of line to expect a phone call back sooner than 3 hours? I know had it been a true emergency, common sense dictates an ER visit. I'm just more annoyed at the lack of, what I would consider, bedside manner. Am I being ridiculous to expect a phone call back sooner?
I was reading (read:lurking) the ghost stories thread on the May BMB, which led to me searching for “Ghost Stories” on this site, and now I’m waaaaaay down into a rabbit hole of ghost stories.

I actually had a similar concern about pain yesterday. I had PTL with DD at 24w so I'm always aware and keep a close eye on pains and contractions. I wasn't sure if they were contractions (it felt different than my other two but was still rhythmic in consistency) but I called the nurse to talk about it. She told me the doctors office can't do a whole lot anyway. They can't give you meds to stop them if they are. They don't even have fetal monitors to see if they are contractions. If it's that serious that you think you have real contractions then you should just got to L&D and get it checked because they have all the necessary tools there. I was a bit surprised by that realization because it makes sense to call the nurse and doc but after she mentioned the whys it made more sense to just go get checked out. I didn't end up going but I doubt I'll give them a call next time because of how little they can do in that situation. So while I agree it's annoying she didn't call you back maybe she had the same thinking of "if it's serious she should go to L&D. If she's calling me maybe it's not that serious since I can't help."
I was reading (read:lurking) the ghost stories thread on the May BMB, which led to me searching for “Ghost Stories” on this site, and now I’m waaaaaay down into a rabbit hole of ghost stories.
We did a thread about ghost stories on the chit chat board awhile ago which mostly turned into dear david talk. I'm curious if you've found that thread. It was pretty fun
@CoastieGirl79 - i'd be annoyed about not getting a call-back sooner, and I'm also surprised that they didn't have you call L&D, especially if your doctor was busy or they had a reason to think it was going to take them so long to get back to you. I went in yesterday and turned my pre-admit forms into my hospital (they have you do this after 24 weeks), and I was given a sheet to post somewhere in my home (like my fridge) with the number for L&D. And I'm pretty sure that I'm at the point now where they're going to always have me call L&D first with any concerns.
Can I ask what she said when she finally called back?

@ladystout08 it was a nurse who I spoke to who said she would call me back.
@saltedcaramel518 everything seems to be fine. I can feel baby moving all over the place, and the Braxton Hicks are back to, what I would consider, normal for my pregnancy.
@sparkymcgeee the office has fetal monitors. I had to go in with DS and get hooked up to one. She also said that if the contractions are happening regularly that I would have to come into the office to be checked.
@MrsDho11 she told me to rest and hydrate. I've already guzzled 64 ounces of water. She also said that if they happen every 10 mins to come in.
@CoastieGirl79 we have two separate nurse lines, one that's staffed 24/7 to triage you and tell you to go to L&D or wait it out and then the nurse line for the OB nurses at my OB's regular office. I wasn't sure if yours was similar.
I'm finally getting caught up! I was using the app most of this week, and most the time it won't let me love anything or comment
Anyone else get Braxton Hicks contractions while/after working out? I remember last pregnancy around 25 weeks I started getting BH while speed walking (I stopped running a while ago bc it feels weird), and again now it's happening. I'm 26 weeks today, and yesterday on the treadmill 10 minutes into my 30 min cardio walk my uterus was constantly tight, and for about 4 hours after I had timeable contractions. I had one every 5 minutes on the dot for about 2 hours, then they spaced to 10 minutes then went away. I probably should have gone in, but they didn't hurt and I remember getting a ton of them last time, but it's weird that they were consistent.
@mrsmang I’m so happy that you and the baby are ok! As far as scares go, it sounds like yours ended on a very happy note. I’m impressed that the staff was so kind and went out of their way to check on you! It’s stories like this that renew my faith in humanity!
We're getting new windows on the house, which is painfully expensive. We're getting our basement carpet replaced (YAY) and kitchen floors, bathroom floors, and entry way floors are being replaced. I'm happy to have all these things FINALLY done, but it's so expensive. We've been wanting to get these done since moving in 2 years ago. We replaced all the carpet in the house when moving in, except the basement, which we should have just done it all at once.
@sweetyjenj I'm 23+4 and am starting to get BH too. It's mostly in the evening if I'm doing a lot of lifting (mostly DD, haha). They aren't painful and don't last as long a you described, but it seems much earlier than I had them with DD.
@CoastieGirl79 honestly, at this point in time, I would just go to L&D if you have any scares in the future. I only see an MFM this pregnancy because of AMA and my history w/ DS and she has everything from monitors, sonos, etc right in office and her office is on the hospital campus but she still told me if its after 24wks to go right to L&D. She said they tell patients that because things happen where messages can slip through the cracks or nurses/drs get side tracked with emergencies and such and they would never want a patient to risk their health or the babys health waiting for advice. I know it's different everywhere but it did make me feel better hearing that.
@sweetyjenj we're in the middle of re-doing a second bedroom upstairs after refinishing one and moving DS into it and DH also built a retaining wall/fire pit in our back yard. We still need to our room and stairs/hallway but I'm SO done with the reno work and bleeding money for three months straight. I feel you.
CoastieGirl79 I'm sorry to say I'm not that surprised and don't think its unusual for a doctor to do that. You could always try to switch to someone you feel is more responsive but it sounds pretty typical. Three hours isn't that terrible for a busy doctor and if the nurse had concerns or the doctor had concerns from your message right away they would have gotten back to you faster. Which basically means you weren't in danger but had to worry unnecessarily. This isn't to say it's not frustrating, more just that I have lower expectations of doctors' responsiveness than I wish I had.
@sweetyjenj BH started reaaaaallllly early for me this pregnancy. They’ve started to get more noticeable during workouts the past week or so, but they go away relatively quickly after as long as I make sure I’m hydrated, etc. I was under the impression it was expected 1) with exercise and 2) for them to be stronger, earlier, and more frequent in non first-pregnancy, so I haven’t worried about it too much as long as they don’t hurt! Maybe I’m being too nonchalant though?

Today is mils birthday and she asked for me to go with her to buybuybaby to pick out a mattress for the crib that she just bought. I brought ds and we picked out the mattress and some sheets. And then she bought the coming home outfit for new baby, a singing Rudolph toy for ds, an Elmo hat, a ball and plate and bowl set! I feel like she's doing birthdays wrong but she insisted and was so happy that we spent part of our day with her.
I just made a stupid mistake at work. It was minor but it was still a duh moment for me. I was wondering why I hadn't taken care of something while I was on a meeting forgetting that the wrong person signed the paperwork and I needed to go back to them. So I just sent it over for processing instead because I was like "why haven't I submitted this paperwork?" Submit button. So many eyerolls for myself. I blame too many things going on and not multi-tasking well. Lame. I hate stupid things like that.
@sweetyjenj . Long story, but a truck drove into our house and we had to replace the 2 windows on the front of our house. It was going to be over $3k! Yay for hurricane proof windows. Hopefully you got yours cheaper!
@greenhillgirl isn't it sad that we lower expectations for health care?
@bradleysmommy28 good advice from your doc. I see MFM and an OB. My OB is ok. I didn't even think to call MFM. I have an appt with them Friday. I may run it by them to get their take.
I wonder what men think/feel when women go into nesting mode. My husband has been quietly watching me scurry around all morning, washing down stuff in the nursery, arranging lighting and stuffed animals on the shelves that I had him put up this morning. The room has been rearranged about three times now as I've played out scenarios (will I trip on the rocking chair if I put it here? Will we hit our heads on the shelf of we put the bins there?). lol It must look kind of crazy.
