  • @kvh22 I accidentally put cinnamon in chili once and it was fine, I just prefer it without. I know it’s not actually sweet but I associate it with sweet...if that makes sense

  • I would usually brown if but being preggo I cant stand to look or even think about cooking so I have been just throwing everything in and it's been coming out great!
  • I make chili in the crockpot with onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, pinto beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper, and I can't remember if there is anything else. I brown the meat because it's one of the crockpot rules. I eat it with corn bread with honey and Coke if possible. It's so good with Coke.
  • I totally went out and got chili for lunch yesterday haha. But I love the way I make it and the best is having people over for a football game and making a chili bar (bowl of shredded cheese, bowl of sour cream, bowl of fritos, bowl of scallions, and let people go to town).

I cook it over the stove. Start with meat first in a pot. I use cut up sausage and ground beef. Then throw in the onions and peppers. Salt and pepper. Then crushed tomatoes, more seasoning... get the chili powder ready and I'll even do a little cayenne and Frank's hot sauce for extra spice. Then a BEER. Last but not least, a ton of beans. YUM.

  • @expandcontract - If you ever want to share your recipes I would be super excited. It's been a dream of mine to cook actual Indian food without making it taste watered down and terrible. I've tried so many recipes but they all fail :( my mom gave me a cookbook her friend's brother wrote but it's all in metrics and I can't math. Not right now, anyway. My brain has turned to mush with pregnancy fog!
  • A little late to this party but I definitely brown the meat with onions and garlic because I am not a heathen! I do a mix of black beans, kidney beans, and a can of vegetarian baked beans to help thicken it up, and bell peppers. Sometimes a little corn or some diced tomatoes. Before I had a child who looks angry and pulls his tongue when he tries spicy foods, jalapeño as well. Chili powder, cumin, cilantro, salt and pepper, and a pinch of cayenne for spices.
