Oh, this is fun!

We moved into our current house 3 years ago - it was built in the 1940's and it has a huge, creepy unfinished basement. I was down there cleaning it out (there was a bunch of dust and cobwebs that needed to be taken care of before we put things in storage). I swear I heard a clear, loud scream when I was in the back corner where it's darkest without lighting. It was so real that I ran upstairs to make sure my wife was okay. She didn't believe me and still thinks I'm nuts. I won't go down there anymore unless I have to.

I do like to use this story to scare my contractor's kids. They're 8-10 years old and think they're so tough. They ran back upstairs and told me they both saw a monster with tentacles come out of the furnace

now, THAT, I do not believe but I played along.

I share mine in a previous thread. I don't remember which thread it was though.

I was at my sisters house and I was up reading late into the early morning. A gray hand came from around the corner of the hallway and knocked on her cario cabinet. I started screaming my head off like a crazy person. My sister came running out of her room. I told her what happened and asked her if she had done it. She didn't do it.

Another time I was at her house and I got bored of the movie her and her gf where watching. So I went to go take a nap. At that point I only slept with the light on at her place. So I was laying in her bed and the light went out. I thought someone must have walked by on the way to the bathroom and turned it off. Then I felt someone lay down next to me. I look over and my dog is looking. Theres no one there but theres the outline of someone lying next to me in the bed. I got up and ran screaming from the house.

In the current house we live in my husband saw someone walk into our sons room at night and no one was there and I have followed what I thought was my daughter into the kitchen one morning. Got around the corner and into the kitchen no one was there. My daughter was in the bathroom the whole time.

Before my son was born, I never experienced anything odd, but after he was born it was just one thing after another no matter where we went. Our first house we lived in about 9 months before he was born (so his whole pregnancy) and after he was born every single day our stereo would turn on at the exact same time. One time I was washing my hands in the bathroom, which had a hanging mirror and the water was starting to get warm, and then got ice cold and the mirror started shaking. My son would look behind me as an infant and then just start screaming.

In our last house, I'm pretty sure there was something unfriendly there. I always had a bad feeling and my son never slept through the night there (we lived there until he was 16 months). One day I was playing with my son's peek a boo Elmo and pressed his tummy to make him say "let's play peek a boo!" And one of his other toys (NOT voice activated, and not near us) went "peek a boo! I see you!" As soon as we moved into our new house, our son started sleeping through the night... Like, the very first night.

Now this house is where he started talking. He was delayed in speech, but out of nowhere started saying "ghost! Ghost!" He didn't seem scared. He told me it was downstairs, and would often point to a closet down there. One time, my dog was barking like crazy at something I couldn't see and just for the hell of it I went "whoever is there, stop, you're pissing off the dog" and she immediately stopped. One night my kid woke me at 4am, and made me take him downstairs, as we were passing my bedroom closet he went "hi ghost!" When we got downstairs I had the TV on and the plug just popped out of the wall (no one was near it).

I realize there could be explanations for all of this, but it's creepy.

I'm pretty sure I have a picture of myself sitting next to a ghost. My friend and I were sitting on a bench at the store and she took my picture and there is a weirdly-clothed girl next to me. I'm not 100% sure, but we really don't think a girl came and sat next to me without us noticing. And why is she dressed so weird?

My husband has tons of stories of when he used to sneak into this old abandoned children's center. The place is huge and old and tons of kids died there. There would be voices and different rhymes written on the blackboards every time he went in and the desks would be moved around.

@wishiwaspreggo I believe you! My H works in a lot of old homes and said one time he opened a shed door and heard a very loud scream.

For our first month anniversary after getting married we took a quick weekend getaway to St Augustine. We did one of the night ghost tours that took us through the Old Jail with the lights on then off. You exit the jail from the second story that goes down a fire escape right by the gallows. I snapped a few pictures and then continue about on our tour. When I looked back at the pictures there is an orb right by the noose of the gallow. When I zoomed in there's a very clear screaming face in the orb, totally creepy.

@psychobutthead - Girl, why are you still staying with your sister?! After the grey hand incident I'd be inviting her and her gf to my place forever after!

@eatinwatermelonseeds - my son was speech delayed and he talked about ghosts, too! I was giving him a bath when I saw him staring intently at the upper corner of the bathroom. We had this conversation:

Me: Whatcha looking at, buddy?

G: It's a ghost...

Me: Where?

G: Up there (pointing at the upper corner where he's staring)

Me: (turns around and looks but sees nothing) Um...

G: Mommy, it's gone!

Me: (kind of freaking out)

G: Mommy, WATCH OUT!!!

Me: *silently screaming*

I distracted him and we moved on but I've been turning the lights on in the bathroom before I enter every time now. Some weird things must've happened in this old house of ours... yet another reason I can't wait to move.

Maybe not a “ghost” story but definitely unexplained.

i was working the nursery at our church one Sunday when I was 12 or 13 years old. I was walking into the baby room where the cribs were to pick some toys up. When I went back into the toddler room, I saw Jesus sitting in our rocking boat. I stopped and blinked a few times but he didn’t go away. I eventually turned around back towards the baby room and looked baby at the boat and he was gone. Can’t explain it, don’t want to, because it was the most peaceful, reassuring experience I had ever had.

@sleepy33 I have to see if I can find it anywhere! It was on an old crappy cell phone like 12 years ago. I had it on a computer before but I'm not sure if it's on my current one.

Oh the thing with my sosters gouse happened when i was probably my daughters age maybe 11 or so. My sister is like 17 or 18 years older than me so this was along time ago.

I quit having experiences once O moved to Tx until the whole seeing a girl walk into my kitchen.

I 100% don’t believe in ghosts and don’t have any stories but some of these stories definitely gave me chills! I can’t believe you all haven’t burned your houses down 😂

I can't find the digital file anywhere so this is the best I could do. It's a picture of the picture printed out on regular paper so the quality is quite poor. The ghost is in back. There was no girl there and I have no explanation for this. Plus she looks creepy. I am pretty convinced in the existence of "ghosts" although I am not totally sure what I believe they truly are, but there are too many stories out there for the explanation to be that everything is made up or people imagining stuff. And if people like my best friend and husband tell me they encountered ghosts I totally believe them, because if I can't trust them, I can't trust anything.

I also want to say that I really love this thread. These are great stories!

About 9 months before my daughter was born *cough cough* my husband and I went to New Orleans for a vacation. We stayed in a Holiday Inn that was in a REALLY OLD building. The first thing that happened is that I kept hearing a noise that woke me up a couple of times. We find out the next day that it was the safe.... The locks just kept going in and out, in and out all night long. Then I tried to make a coffee in the Keurig and it started spitting out hot water all over me. These things could be legit, but considering our setting, I was very skeptical. Ask anyone in NOLA and they say it is chock full of spirits.

@wishiwaspreggo No, I'm totally not making it up. It's seriously weird. And it looks like she's wearing like an apron thing over a poofy shirt to me. It seems very old fashioned and not like how people dress now. I would like to find out what used to be on the site of that store but I haven't been able to find out much. It is in the old part of town. In the 1800s there were mills and factories near there and it's about 5 miles from an old fort.

My friend had been sitting there in that same seat that the girl is in before she moved to take my picture. I just really doubt that after she moved, a very strange-looking girl walked up without either of us noticing and without my friend noticing her right behind me in the camera either. I'm like 99% certain. I'm sure enough that I can't make myself believe it is a normal girl.
