Congratulations! What a beautiful boy. Sorry you had such a tough time getting him here. Hope his NICU stay is nice and short, and omg sushi sounds so good right now. Enjoy!
Congrats!! I absolutely love the name. I am sorry you had to feel everything. I hope you and he are doing well.
Side note, same thing happened to me. DD came so quick the nurse had to fly out of the room to grab a doctor. He barely made it in time and told me stop pushing! I screamed at him, I CAN'T!!
This past week in the NICU has been a rollercoaster. Last weekend baby seemed to finally be starting to take interest in his bottle which was a great sign. Then his oxygen levels started to decrease and his heart and breathing rates started trending pretty high. Maveric was put on a little bit of oxygen and diagnosed with what they thought was a slight aspiration pneumonia from inhaling a small bit of formula from his attempts to bottle feed. After 3 days of strictly feeding through his tube, he seemed to be doing worse. Another xray showed that both lungs looked cloudy now instead of just the one. Doctors decided to put him back on the full CPAP mask on friday and go back to strictly IV fluids, no feeding. At 2 weeks old he was back to being hooked up to everything he worked so hard to get taken off of in the first 48hours of his life.
This morning they will be doing a test to look for a possible H-Type Fistula birth defect which is a small passageway between the esophagus and the trachea that some babies are born with. This would explain how henis getting fluid in his lungs even when only being fed through a tube. If they find one, Maveric will have surgery to close it off. As much as I dont want my infant to have surgery, I hope this is the answer to his problems and we arent back to square one with no answers.
Hope you ladies are all doing well and have boring, uncomplicated birth stories to share soon.
You're both in my thoughts, @msb11182018! I'm sorry this has been so rough, and yes, hopefully this is the answer so Maveric can start getting better. Try to stay strong and optimistic! I have no doubt that your little guy will make a swift recovery!
@msb11182018 - I am so sorry for the rollercoaster ride. It's so hard. I hope they are able to give you some answers and things start looking up soon. Thinking of you both
