City dweller here and I have way too many strollers for only having one child so far lol.
Since i am 100% pedestrian I tend to wear them out haha (at least the umbrella strollers)
I am also a Graco fanatic...I’m not one to spend a ton of $$$ in strollers etc so Graco hits my sweet spot just right (especially when wearing them out so often on rough city sidewalks).
I got a Graco aire3 travel system first and still have the stroller. (Infant seat was in a minor car accident so I didn’t take chances).
then I had a Chicco lightweight stroller but I forget the name as it wore out pretty fast and I had to dump it. Now I have a Graco Breaze and I love it. Sturdy, light, reclines all the way etc
I tried the cheap route with the summer infant 3D lite stroller but again it wore out pretty quickly.
Now I’m eyeing the Graco Uno2Duo for DS and LO. DS still likes to ride in the stroller but it does also come with the standing portion and it extends or goes back to a single stroller depending on my need.
And before I forget I also have the Graco elite stroller frame for the infant car seat lol. Love my Graco!
I got a GT second-hand on Facebook from a family here in town for $200. It's grey and black. They used it twice, and it looks brand new. They said that they got it as a gift, but preferred using their other stroller that was made for their car seat. Score! I walked it around out in the parking lot before buying it, and folded it up to see how it works. It's awesome!
DH asked "did you look into any other types of strollers?" and I said "The Bump ladies all said that the GT was great, so why would I need to look into other strollers???". He had no response.
I don't care about colours, Im all for whatever is costing me less! Plus I wondered if the black doesnt draw more heat to it... or is that just me being creative? I decided on the GT last night after watching that video.
@danixbanani24 do yourself a favor and get an actual good stroller and then you won’t have to wear them out so much! You’re not saving money if you keep having to buy more. Graco is known for really good convertible car seats but I’ve been told to stay away from their strollers.
And I’m not a stroller fan by any means - I’m 100% team baby wearing whenever possible. I have a BOB jogger that I only bought because I got it on super clearance and a Chicco Liteway Plus that’s like a $180 umbrella stroller that I really like because it has rubber wheels instead of crap plastic ones and it can be used to transport the Chicco infant seat. If I have to use a stroller, it’s my go to.
@cmjenkies- Agree both on it being worth it to get a good stroller and also on preferring baby wearing! Sometimes you just have to stroll. I remember seeing the prices of some of those graco and Chico strollers and digging it, until I tried to test drive them at BBB. Same actually with some of the higher end ones, maybe it was Peg Perego?. Ended up liking how the city mini felt to push and man I end up pushing that thing one handed all the time now over messed up sidewalks and am sure glad I can maneuver it so easily that way and that it handles like a champ!
@cmjenkies the Graco strollers actually haven't worn out on me at all. It's the other brands I had that did (Chicco, Summer Infant). I just happen to have more than I should due to gifting from family.
I considered the Citi double stroller but I really don't want a double wide double stroller - between my apartment dwelling and all the stores I frequent in Brooklyn, it just won't work. I know there are other in-lines out there but I keep heading back to Graco because really they have lasted me the longest and I just like the ease and agility of handling them. They also have big baskets, good cup holders, handle bars, etc. *shrug* I just really like them lol
I might go to BBB this weekend to test some out but I find they are limited in their selection. I'm not 100% decided yet!
Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $$$ (but our in-laws want to gift us a stroller)
Any questions about it/them for S+TMs?: Ah! I am so worried this won't be worth the price. I ran very consistently before getting knocked up and would like to work up to that again. For reference: 20-40 miles/week in urban settings (sidewalks/pavement/well-packed trails). I know there are lots of jogging strollers that are cheaper, but reviews online make it seem like not many of them are actually great for using for jogging. I'm worried that we will end up needing a second one that is better for running errands. Or that the amount I use this one (have to wait until 6 months to run, live in climate with severe/snowy winters) won't make it worth the cash - especially since I'd still have to buy the add ons (car seat adapter, console thing, bumper bar, etc). Any runners have any advice/experience to lend me - thank you!!!
@mommin135 - I feel like a GOOD stroller is an investment. The price of the Thule isn't CRAZY in comparison to some of the Uppababy/ Baby Jogger high end strollers. I'd encourage you to see if you can try one out somewhere - see if you like the feel of it.
As far as a secondary stroller, I can't say enough good things about my City Mini. It's a dream to push, folds practically flat, and is comfy from birth and up.
@okayestmom12 there are definitely more expensive brands, but being in Canada and purchasing a couple add-ons brings the price tag to near $1k. Which might not be $$$ for everyone, but definitely is for us lol. Especially since this is a stroller for a specific purpose and there are travel systems available for half the price (my mother keeps reminding me lol). But we have tried it out and did like it! Hopefully someone will have a stroller they run with regularly who can share if it holds up over time.
We bought the City Mini GT in the teal blue, a Britax capsule, and the adaptor set so the capsule clicks into the stroller. I drive a small car and wanted a stroller that fit in the boot without needing to detach pieces, and this one is a perfect fit.
