Re: Symptoms - September

  • @zuuls_mom Hope you start feeling better! I’m trying to figure out if DS and husband have gotten me sick, or if it’s pregnancy symptoms. I’m so tired, achy and headachy and not having much of an appetite. My hair even hurts to blow dry it in the mornings. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I also need alllllll the sleep.
  • Loading the player...
  • @kvh22 and @msb615 I’ve been waking up lightheaded for the past several mornings.  Eating definitely helps.  I feel like I’m constantly eating to keep the nausea and lightheaded feeling at bay.
  • @beccaneu yes! Constantly eating otherwise I feel horrible! But still feeling so horrible that I don't want to eat. I'm BFing, although only when home with DD so 2x/day during the week and 4x on the weekend. No idea how many extra calories that means I need (not 500 like when <1year) but I lost 5 lbs in the first trimester last pregnancy and I'm trying to not do the same this time which means forcing myself to eat more than I'd like I think.

  • I’m super tired all the time. And food is gross.

Today, my 4-yr-old asked what was for dinner and when I told her what daddy was cooking, she asked me why I don’t like to cook anymore...  :(

    DD: 8/20/14; DS: 11/13/16; DD: 5/3/19; DD: 8/31/21; Baby #5 (team green) due 3/24/24

  • @kvh22 I’m still nursing my son (before nap/bedtime and when he wakes up at night). It’s rough...

    DD: 8/20/14; DS: 11/13/16; DD: 5/3/19; DD: 8/31/21; Baby #5 (team green) due 3/24/24

  • @jarethinafrock still nursing at 4?! Or do you have more than one? If it’s the 4 yo, you’re a rockstar! I made it to my goal of 6 months but wanted to quit every day. I probably would have trudged along a little longer but we wanted to get pregnant again pretty quickly. I’m not really looking forward to nursing again but I’ve heard supply increases with each baby so hopefully that’ll make it easier. (I made juuuust enough, barely any extra. Made it difficult to leave DS ever).

Haha, I have 2 kids! My daughter is 4 and my son will be 2 in November. ;)

I did nurse my daughter throughout my pregnancy with my son and had no supply issues. It did take me longer to get pregnant between kids though because of nursing (period didn’t come back til my daughter was 15 months and my son was 18 months).

  • I’m stuck awake right now. The nausea is so bad I think I might vomit but I haven’t yet. Can’t sleep because I’m so nauseas. Can’t find any comfort. Ugh!

  • Ooh, first vomit fest of the pregnancy. My poor DH was a rock star. Rubbed my back and helped flush in between. Best tips for nausea and vomiting?

  • @mrskoz428 ugh! How awful! Cranberry juice helped me. It has to be actual tart juice though, not cranberry juice cocktail. I usually cut it with some water. Sour candy too. Don’t buy Preggie Pop Drops, they are just sour candy.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge worst part is I don’t feel any better at all after vomiting. :-/ Food sounds completely unappetizing right now but I’ll try that when I feel more normal.

  • Now I want something sour...

Can you drink your calories? Like make some healthy smothies with fruit and veggies and whole milk? Might be easier than trying to eat all the calories you need.  I imagine you need a crazy amount to breastfeed while pregnant.

I ate entire bags of lemon head candies while pregnant with my daughter to fight nausea.  But i hear sour jolly ranchers are good.

I eat sugar free lemon drops now.

  • I feel exactly the same so different from a first pregnancy
  • Pregnancy brain is real guys. Got half a mile down the road and realized I never buckled up my 2yr old. Cue meltdown on the side of the road. Ugh!!!!!

  • @nopegoat Ahh how scary! At least you remembered and didn't go very far. You have a lot on your plate...it happens!

@mrskoz428 That's the worst when you vomit but it doesn't even bring any relief.

I'm feeling under the weather today. Just generally blah. There's this woman in our office who has this hacking cough and announced that she's sick as a dog, but "can't take a sick day because her kids are also home sick". I understand how rough it is to have sick kids, but she just openly admitted she'd rather infect everyone in the office instead of staying home. Also, if you're all sick, why can't you stay home? I don't get it.

@beccaneu Yes! The lightheadedness these past few mornings has been awful. I did eat a breakfast bar this morning while I was getting ready and went ahead and took Tylenol for my headache and felt a little better. It just makes the mornings such a struggle. Surely this goes away soon...

@mrskoz428 So sorry you’re feeling so nauseous! That’s awesome your husband is being helpful though! I don’t have any tips unfortunately, but I hope it passes soon for you!

@nopegoat Oh no! I swear I’ve been feeling like I stay in a fog these days. My brain just isn’t functioning to full capacity anymore 😬
  • @nopegoat - I've had serious brain fog too. I can't remember anything. And I'm *exhausted*. I put myself on a caffeine strike for the first trimester just in case. I know most women drink coffee throughout but this is just a personal choice. It's a punishing one, though. That and the shots to my ass are starting to really take their toll (IVF). I can't find a spot that's not sore anymore, and I have another 9 weeks to go.

Ugh, the nausea right now... barf. I went out and bought a bunch of high protein snacks but I guess I should get myself some sour candy too, huh?
  • Thanks for all the tips! Sadly the vomiting continued 12 more times last night in 5.5 hours. Stomach flu. 9 out of my 21 4th graders ar out sick today, as well. @secicc12 that explains the lack of relief from vomiting. Still don’t feel any better but I’m vomit free for 5.5 hours.

  • Eating something every hour. Yellow sour patch kids, sour jolly ranchers, sucking on lemons and drinking ginger ale has *helped* with the nausea. But- pretty much only to keep food and drink down. This suckkkkkkkkkks
  • @mrskoz428 Holy crap! Sure hope you feel better soon! That’s the worst!
  • @psychobutthead yes! I'm all about the fruit smoothies with a bit of spinach, kale, and maybe avocados if I have any. I usually do them post workout but I fell off the workout wagon when I felt horrible last pregnancy so probably had less. I'm trying to force myself to workout - I actually feel okay while I'm doing it - which would then make me have the smoothies.

@DuchessOfCambridge sorry about your supply issues last time. That would be so frustrating. I have also heard it's higher in future pregnancies.

@jarethinafrock ahh I'm so impressed you BFed during your entire pregnancy last time. Was it just morning and evening or more than that? I'm hoping to do the same if I don't have any supply issues. I pumped like crazy at first so have a huge stash still (13 months PP) but stopped pumping in June to try to get my cycle back which worked (DD is in daycare). OB said to wait until 12 months PP to TTC - only one period between last pregnancy and this one although my cycle was definitely wonky - according to LMP I'd be due end of April but I was temping and am due May 18th, confirmed by blood test.

@mrskoz428 Sorry you're actually throwing up. I guess it makes sense that it wouldn't make you feel better but that is the absolute worst!! I bought some little ginger candies from amazon but never actually threw up with my first so my nausea is not nearly as bad as yours.

@secicc12 Whaaa?? That makes absolutely no sense? And who is watching her sick kids?

@nopegoat was the meltdown yours or his? I've been doing the walk-into-a-room-forget-what-I-needed thing all.the.time!! Also, putting things in the wrong place (milk in the pantry, bringing my water cup into the bathroom instead of the kitchen). You are not alone but I'm glad you realized so quickly.

  • @mrskoz428 oh yuck! At least you found the source. I hope you feel better ASAP!!

@nopegoat it's happened to the best of us. Definitely scary AF when it happens, but you noticed right away! You're a great mom.

  • @mrskoz428 ughh I'm so sorry. My post was started before you wrote that you had a stomach bug. I would check in with your doctor maybe? They might have some tips or just want to know as I'm sure you're super dehydrated. Drink water if possible and get whatever you can keep down in your system. And try to take your PNV when you think you won't throw it back up.

  • @kvh22 mine. He was sitting in his seat like normal. When we leave in the mornings I open the van door, all the boys climb in and get in their seats while I go open the gate. Everyone except the 2yr old can buckle themselves so after I open the gate I usually buckle him in before I get in. This morning while walking back to the van one of our cats came and sat in the driveway so I turned back around to move his stubborn butt and completely forgot to buckle the baby in. Our drive to the school is short but there is one intersection that can be kind of scary. I'm glad I remembered before I got too far but It definitely shook me up.

  • @kvh22 @DuchessOfCambridge @msb615 @journey721 I called the nurse line last night but my urine labs came back yesterday evening and I also have a UTI thanks to baby. I’m hoping when they call about that, I can get some tips on keeping something down. I wish parents would keep their kids home if they throw up! Now half my room as it! Lol. Thanks ladies for the support. One sip of Sprite at a time!

  • @mrskoz428 a UTI too?! That's just not fair. My last pregnancy I got a yeast infection with BV at the same time THREE TIMES. I never get either otherwise. I'm not looking forward to that again.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge oh yes, I can’t catch a break! Maybe I should move this to Mo day Bitch Fest! 😂 We’ll see what my CNM hasn’t to say about all of this because I’m achey, starving, nauseas, and ready to cry. Hopefully DH gets done with work early today. I probably won’t eat until he’s home.

  • @mrskoz428 Stomach flu AND UTI? Brutal. I hope you're getting lots of nastiness out of the way all at once and the rest of your pregnancy is just smooth sailing and healthy!
  • @JennZed I know, right?!? The nurse advisory line is not responding very quickly, either!

  • I'm only 4w 6d but every morning this week the nausea gets a little worse. I really wanted to put some food in my stomach before my day got started but I had people in my office from the moment I sat down to when I got out of my series of pointless morning meetings (~10:30). So now I am just sitting here trying not to throw up the lunch I just hastily scarfed down.

In other news, my body is really appreciative of the extra green leafy veggies I've been enjoying this week. :-)
  • @nopegoat omg that is so scary! One of my greatest fears,  honestly.

@mrskoz428 I feel so bad for you! I always wonder how teachers do their jobs.  On the one hand, i get jealous because they get summers off. But then,  germs EVERYWHERE!

@kvh22 lol my pregnancy brain never went away since my last pregnancy!! I STILL frequently put the milk in one of the cabinets and other random shit like that.

  • @julwanderlust - I'm 4 weeks 4 days today and I've felt like I wanted to puke all day. I've only ever dry-heaved though. Do you feel better when you actually vomit? I know after drinking I always feel better when I throw up but I didn't know if MS operated the same way. Or if you still just wanted to keep throwing up once you let the floodgates down, so to speak. So far I've been trying to contain it. It helps when I eat, ironically.
  • @nopegoat I hate to admit it but that has happened to me, not pregnant.  Not often, and both my kids are pretty vocal that they've always said something before we even got 1/2 a block from home.  But similar circumstances where something threw off our usual getting in the vehicle routine and I jumped in the drivers seat without returning to the seat I hadn't buckled.

I posted in another thread about my pregnancy brain.  It is bad this week.  I'm currently setting reminder alarms for everything in my calendar because I'm now worried I'm going to forget a kid somewhere or something.

  • I don't remember this from my last pregnancies. I have the WORST taste in my mouth. It's super dry and just tastes sour. It's awful.

    DD1: June 2014 - VBM4lyfe
    DD2: October 2016
    DC3: coming May 2019

  • @k2k2tog Yup, that's a pregnancy symptom. You're lucky you didn't experience it last time. I had a metallic taste in my mouth. It hasn't started for me this time, yet. But we'll see.

My pregnancy symptom.....I'm still having trouble breathing. And while I was driving to a meeting today, I had like 2 seconds where I got real lightheaded and everything was a blur. Scared the crap out of me. My head has been feeling heavy since then. Thankfully, I do have an appointment with my pulmonologist, tomorrow morning.
