No Movement During Every Ultrasound

Hi everyone! This is my first pregnancy and I try not to stress much about my baby and pregnancy because ultimately there shouldn't be any issues. But I just went to my 16 week 1 day US and I am getting concerned because my baby hasn't moved one bit during any of my monthly US's. Nothing during my 7, 11, and now 16 week US. Not a squirm, jolt or kick. I go around lunch each time. I am thinking of changing my appointment to a different time or drinking orange juice, maybe a soda, before I go to my 20 week. I don't know if I have ever felt my baby move otherwise. Not sure what it feels like or if it's just gas. Thoughts?

Re: No Movement During Every Ultrasound

  • Hello and welcome. There was a thread just started yesterday about movements. Your question will likely get answered quicker in that thread rather than on its own. Don’t forget to introduce yourself in our introduction thread if you haven’t done so already. :)

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

  • Hi @mom2b31019! Ditto to what @bdesterhouse said, but if it makes you feel better I didn’t feel any movement with my first until well after 20 weeks. If the doctors and ultrasound techs aren’t concerned, it’s likely you have just a more sedate baby but I would definitely mention your concern at your next appointment so that they can put your mind at ease
  • I agree with what both @bdesterhouse and @mamaoftwomonkeys said above.

I’m a FTM too and completely understand the fear of things “not being right”. If your doc or the US tech aren’t worried, you probably don’t have reason to be either. Did you ask them about your concerns? My baby wasn’t moving at all at my 9 week appointment and I was worried because it seemed everyone else on the board mentioned a squirming little one. I asked my doc during the 9 week US and she laughed and said they are not always moving. I think it also depends on how long the US is, if it’s only a few minutes, there’s a lower chance of catching baby in movement.
  • @mom2b31019 ditto what everyone else said above, you could ask about it, but the baby is probably sleeping most of the time! I find that fruit (especially bananas) gets my little one moving within a few minutes.
