    Congratulations @babyhopeful442. Great news!!!
  • woo hoo @babyhopeful442, great numbers!!

@mrsyng -- was your RE happy with doubling from beta 2 to 3? i see you're due for a fourth beta.

@babydust2507 i'm 7dpt today. my clinic tests unusually early compared to most clinics... my last two transfers, they tested on 6dpt, but since my 6dpt was Sunday, they tested me today.  Honestly, i have mixed feelings about this practice.  On the positive, i get answers sooner... on the negative, the lower HCG levels create their own mindfuck. i had to have 4 betas last time b/c my first beta was 6.5 on 6dpt... BUT, that's how I knew FRER could have such good sensitivity -- a FRER had a faint line that day.

@momifbysea i feel like i've looked at a lot of progression pics. I would say testing on 5dpt with a FRER would be within reason. Anything earlier or with an HPT with less sensitivity will play tricks on your eyes.

ALL -- Have you guys seen this implantation calculator? It's one of my faves.
Helps you work backwards to determine what day you may have had implantation.

According to the calculator, it would have had implantation on 6dpo (1dpt) -- very cool!

  • @babyhopeful442 congrats!! Such a great beta.

@bkatp yes, I had my 3rd beta today and it came in at 956 for 14dptx short by 100 for doubling at 48 hrs. RN said she’s not worried... so I guess I won’t be either. so far it’s been better than my last two BFP.

@babydust2507 that’s awesome. You’re one step closer to transfer.
  • @northbeach3 as far as I know. I believe the RE is fine with the beta level since the RN said we’re still doing pretty well. The 3rd beta was really for my own reassurance as the clinic usually would draw beta #3 1 week after the 2nd beta since it did double appropriately and wasn’t super low.
  • Great news and congratulations @babyhopeful442! What a great beta! Congrats to you to on beta increase @mrsyng! I love it!
  • @mrsyng beta doubling time of 72 hours is also considered normal. So you should be fine

@babydust2507 good to know you are starting estrogen on Wednesday. How long will you be on estrogen?
  • @northbeach3 @bkatp Congrats ladies!!! <3

  • thank you @bkatp, so I'll be on estrace till 10/23 (*eye rolls* that's another month!) and will start PIO on the 19. I have a question for you all ladies as it wasn't on the calendar. Did you all do or will do assisted hatching?
  • bkatpbkatp member
    edited September 2018
@babydust2507 maybe when ur lining is good they can move ur PIO s ahead of schedule.

    Yes mine was assisted hatching.
  • Thank you @bkatp for your comfort words and quick response! What was your estrace dose and how long where you on it?
  • This might be a question for @embryoman... but when does assisted hatching occur and what does it technically entail?

i was under the assumption that AH happened with ICSI, but I actually don’t know what is done specifically. Is it also done at transfer? I just thought thawed embryos kept growing so thats why many are hatching in the photo. :)

@babydust2507 my estrace started approximately on 24th August and my transfer was on 12th. Dose varied from beginning to day of transfer and constant of 2mg twice a day after trasnfer

@northbeach3 according to what I know, assisted hatching( making a hole for easy hatching) is done after thawing and before transfer. Icsi is type of fertilization and fertilized whether natural or icsi are grown to day 3/5 with out a hole in it. If the embryo is already hatching they won't do anything with it ( assisted hatching)

  • Good explanation @bkatp which I agree! so does it mean if the embryo is not hatching after thawing they will automatically do the AH? Reason why they're asking to sign off on it on the consent form?
  • *Lurking* I don't remember signing off on assisted hatching specifically...but I must have somewhere.  They did it on two of my three FETs, extra $650 each time..getting that bill was an unpleasant surprise to say the least.
  • @northbeach3 Assisted hatching helps the embryo come out of the zona so the trophectoderm can stick to the endometrium when transferred. When you freeze embryos the zona typically hardens and this can make it harder for the embryo to poke out so we "assist" them by making a hole with a laser. Even embryos that are technically hatching (expansion of 5) can be hatched just in case. The hole made with the laser can let many cells out versus a few by natural means and with zona hardening this could be important. However if you're doing a fresh transfer we won't assist hatch if they're already hatching.

Assisted hatching is done immediately after thawing. During ICSI we penetrate the zona to inject an egg but this isn't the same as assisted hatching which is reserved for when you have an embryo ready for transfer.

    Hope that helps!

  • Thank you for explaining @embryoman!
  • And thank you @sungirl39. You made me laugh with that unexpected bill! i know I would have been mad too! I'm already fighting with my new insurance because they didn't cover some of the claims for my IVF cycle. I told them don't care how many mistakes they're gonna make on these claims but I know one thing I am not paying over my OOP (*eye rolls), so they're better reprocess them and make it right. I'm already frustrated with all these bills, ugh!
  • Congrats to everyone with positive betas!

I had blood drawn today to confirm that I ovulated, and my transfer is scheduled for Friday!

Ahh yes! Thanks @embryoman!  So then is it always the case to do AH with FET? Unlike @sungirl39, I don’t think I was charged separately for it. I remember it being part of my consent... but my IVF/FET was a package so I assume if there was a charge, it was rolled into the total cost.

  • thank you everyone for your insights on AH, I truly appreciate it!

  • Oh no @justharrison, I am so sorry to see your update. I was so hopeful for you. Like @mrsyng, am also wondering if you will go in before Friday to make sure?
