How's everyone doing? Pretty well! I had my repeat anatomy scan yesterday. I managed not to really freak out and worry until the scan was actually happening and I knew how close I was to answers. The tech was super thorough but chatty enough throughout that it made me at least feel like everything was ok. When she was having trouble getting a shot she would tell me. She also would tell me she was getting really good pictures. At the end she was confident she had everything and then I had the wait for the MFM to come in. She told me everything she already reviewed looked great, then she went through each picture again quickly, did her own quick scan, and said I was good to go! Such a relief to finally know it looks like I have a healthy little nugget growing in there. I was so nervous that because they couldn't get all of the shots a month ago that they would find something they couldn't see last time.

When's your next appointment? Next Tuesday. 25 week checkup.

R/R/Q? Life has been crazy chaotic so I've been super MIA. I went back to work (which has no air conditioning so I am miserable, sweating, and exhausted everyday). DD Started daycare. DD got coxsackie right after. Then DH got coxsackie. Then our basement flooded from some torrential rain we had yesterday. Thankfully I am off from work today and was able to drop DD off at daycare and start getting things done. I have carpet water removal people coming this afternoon. I finished up some cleaning and some laundry. Now I'm finally catching up here before I do actual work (grading and lesson planning).

I'm mostly ok. I have indigestion that never goes away and I'm starting to swell a lot which has me kind of worried. I get my flu shot next week and the week after is my repeat U/S which hopefully LG cooperates this time. They timed my U/S so I see my OB right after so it'll get reviewed by MFM and then my OB will go over it with me at my appointment too. The MFM noted an EIF on LG's heart last time and since we couldn't see all of it I'm super nervous something is wrong with it. She hangs out breech 99% of the time but I feel her a ton now so that's reassuring, I think I'll just feel better after the second A/S.

Rant/Rave: DH and I are going away for our 10 year anniversary next weekend and it's all a surprise so I'm in the "what do I need to wear/pack" panic and DH isn't helping at all.

@ladystout08 I'm swelling a lot too. I think it's just the humidty and heat that refuse to go away. My BP was great at my a/s yesterday (116/66) which made me feel better.

@BitterBetty12 that's what I thought too but like, I wake up with swollen hands. And I've started wearing compression socks but they leave lines on my feet/ankles by the end of the day. Ugh. The heat needs to go away for sure.

@ladystout08 I also wake up with swollen hands. That is unfortunately carpal tunnel : ( As long as your other swelling is going down at night (Like feet / ankle / leg swelling) you're probably still in the clear. Even my leggings have started leaving marks on my legs by the end of the day! It's awful. I did not swell this early with DD1 except for one time when I was in a wedding and on my feet literally all day. But then again it was also February!

@BitterBetty12 with DS I didn't swell until like 35 weeks and then pre-eclampsia set in and I got super swollen super fast so I'm probably overly paranoid. I've been trying to sleep with my hands elevated on my chest or something I wake up and they're bugging me. I've made a habit of coming home and putting my feet up and I think that helps so it's probably fine but man is it annoying! Especially with boot weather starting, I can barely get them zipped!

@ladystout08 Yeah I'm keeping a close eye for similar reasons. I had postpartum hypertension with DD1 that started 2 days after she was born. I never had any protein or swelling so they didn't call it pre-e, but everyone is on high alert watching for signs this time around. BUT I had the hand swelling thing with DD1 very early on, and thankfully they are unrelated! I had to wear braces at night for most of my pregnancy. If they keep bugging you or getting worse I would give it a try. It really helped (until the end when I had to have a crazy upright sleeping position with my hands elevated and in braces - really hoping not to get to that point this time).

Haha @BitterBetty12 I already sleep mostly upright because of these stupid indigestion/reflux. Something else I had with DS but it didn't start until much later. My BP has been great thus far and I'm on baby aspirin to hopefully keep it low the duration but only time will tell. Hopefully we can both avoid the complications.

@ladystout08 Thankfully I've avoided the reflux so far (though I had a week or so where it was weirdly bad). +1 to being on baby asprin. So FX for both of us!

@BitterBetty12 Yay for a good scan and healthy baby!

@ladystout08 Sorry about the worry over the possible EIF.  Hopefully it was just the angle/the way the baby was sitting!  Also, Happy Anniversary!

I'm doing alright.  I seem to be extra sore lately (especially in my pelvic area), and am dreading how much worse it is going to get the further along I am.  Other than that, I'm actually starting to enjoy pregnancy.  I'm no longer sick all the time and have been feeling baby girl move like crazy, so that's exciting!

My next appointment is with my OB on Wednesday next week, where she will most likely refer me to a MFM.  At my first A/S, they couldn't get a decent look at baby's heart, but from what they could see, it looked like baby has a possible Ventricle Septal Defect (VSD).  I had a repeat scan a week and a half ago, so am just waiting for my OB to confirm the VSD.  DH saw the ultrasound tech taking a measurement of a part of the heart at the last A/S, so we're pretty sure a VSD is there.  The OB didn't seem that worried about it at the last appointment, though, and just said that, if it is there, I'll most likely get extra monitoring with a MFM to see if the hole will close on its' own before birth.

Rave: I had an amazing prenatal massage yesterday and already want to go back, but am convincing myself I need to wait at least two weeks!

@baileym9126 thinking of you! Glad the OB doesn’t seem to be concerned. Hopefully it resolves itself.

Doing fairly well this week. I have times when my anxiety flares up. Usually when I’m craving a kick from LG and don’t get one. Sure fire way is to eat something and go sit in her room. Or basically anytime she hears her dad. Next appointment isn’t until 10-16 and that’s for my glucose test. Looking forward to my growth scan at the end of October. Only question is to S+TMs when does baby start to move up? My LG Likes to hang out low.

@ladystout08 I hope all is well with your LG and she was just in an odd position.

@baileym9126 best of luck with everything. Hopefully it will resolve itself before baby comes.

@ms_stevens87 it varies by kid. With DS he started out transverse (sideways) across my belly. Then eventually he wedged into my ribs. LG hangs out way lower than her brother ever did. Her head is usually near my belly button and she crams the rest of her in the lower half of my bump. She tap dances on my cervix and bladder/rectum.

What @ladystout08 said. DD1 actually moved head down before her anatomy scan at 19+6 and was basically there the whole time. She never kicked me in the ribs or anything. This LO was head down as of Tuesday (and I think a couple of weeks before) at her repeat a/s and I imagine she’ll stay that way as well. With both I felt movements down low at my pubic bone the entirety of my pregnancy (their hands and feet).

@BitterBetty12 both kids so far have been breech, DS turned at like 35 or 36 weeks right after I got the "if he doesn't turn on his own...." talk from my OB. I'm hoping this one turns sooner rather than later because I hate the feeling of her kicking my cervix and for lack of a better description, butt hole.

BitterBetty12 OMG... sounds like you've had adventures!!! But so glad your scan went well!!! I had to do two as well and it feels like double jeopardy... you go through the first one and all the anxiety just to do it again!
ladystout08 ugh with indigestion... do you have any reflux too? I had it a couple times and was dying.... its the worst feeling and makes me not want to eat (well makes me want to eat even less than I already do with all my hyperemesis and food aversions). Do you think you will have to get a fetal echo? I had to have one (at my ob's practice, fetal echos are "routine" for IVF patients) and it was super nerve wracking, but at least its pretty definitive.
baileym9126  at my fetal echo they told me that often those things will close up before birth, so I'm hoping that will be the case for little girl! That massage sounds awesome! I don't normally care for massage, but a good working over would feel nice! I feel so crunchy these days!
ms_stevens87 OMG ive been googling about babies that like to be way down. My LG is always down at the escape hatch! I hope shes not getting any ideas! lol. So weird though!

AFM: My next appointment is next Friday (9/28) glucose and regular check up
I'm doing ok... I still sort of feel like every ime I tell someone I'm jinxing myself or something. But for the most part I'm just moving forward and beginning to get prepared. I'm still nauseous and gagging and whatnot... last week had two days where I had evening reflux and it was awful... like it made me cough! :( I feel the baby quite a bit (as I commented above, hanging down as far as she can go mostly with just some quick trips north to check things out) I am so grateful to have reached "viability" But I also know it doesn't mean much. Its just another milestone to be grateful for! :)

@dragonette505 thanks! My doctor had said the same thing. Sorry that you’re still dealing with nausea and gagging.

@dragonette505 I do get reflux! It actually has gotten so bad now that it'll make my stomach cramp which eventually gives me stupid braxton hicks contractions. So annoying. We likely won't do a fetal echo unless they show something else in her next anatomy scan.

Are you taking anything for the reflux? My doc said I could take Zantac, but I don’t love taking anything. I read in an article someone says bananas help... have you heard that?
  • Options
@dragonette505 my OB just recommended I switch from Zantac to Prilosec (differently formulas I guess?) and so far it seems to be helping but it wears off by bed time which is annoying. I hadn't heard about bananas but I did just buy a bunch! Someone told me to drink apple cider vinegar which sounds horrifying in its own right but desperate times..........

@dragonette505 and @ladystout08 - My doula just recommended papaya enzymes to help with heart burn/acid reflux/indigestion. Apparently you can get them at Trader Joe's? Haven't tried them yet, but this was when I was complaining about Tums doing nothing for me.
