Re: Weekend Randoms 9/22-9/23

  • @lyse01 I’m with you there. 6:00 is the cutoff for waking up. Someone woke up at 6:04.
  • Loading the player...
  • I can't believe I slept in without having to wake up to pee. I should check the sheets for a puddle.

I was so irritated with dh last night, and I knew it was mostly because of hormones but dd has been sick and she slept late so he decided to skip her morning dose of antibiotics. Blah.
  • DD was up before 6am. We can pull her into our bed and have her lay there until 6 most mornings but we dont get to sleep in on our weekends unfortunately.

  • DS has had hand foot mouth all week. This morning I woke up with hand foot mouth.  Fever, achy everywhere, blisters in the back of my throat and my tonsils look horrendous. I went to urgent care to be sure and cause I feel like utter death. Sure enough, HFM. Cant eat solids. Ugh. Miserable.

Sick while pregnant should be illegal.
  • I'm just reading everything I can possibly find on placentas. Way too fascinating and I'm such a dork.
Also looking forward to going to the bakery and buying ALL the pie
  • DS has an internal alarm clock that goes off at 4:30 am on the dot every single morning.  It's killing me! I broke down and bought baby melatonin (zarbees) today.  Anyone ever used it before with kids?
I just ate a taco from taco bell and it was delicious.
  • @roo1381 my sisters 5 year old son takes melatonin gummies. His are prescription. He has sleep issues and seizures, but the gummies have really helped him get a full nights sleep
  • @roo1381 my son went through a phase like that. I would pull him in my bed, tell him it was night time, and then pretend I was asleep. For awhile he’d crawl around or talk or whatever. Eventually he gave up and started sleeping later. My philosophy is to bore them to sleep. He knows now that if he wakes up before Daddy’s alarm he just has to lay still in bed.
  • @roo1381 I gave it to DD when she was having sleep issues. I actually gave her half and if we sat and put a movie on or I put her in bed it was usually under 30 min and she was out.

  • @roo1381 are they the chewable grape? DD has no issue taking them, but she also loves grape flavored things. I would give her it with her nightly vitamin and she’d just chomp it right down.

  • I went to a brewery with all my in-laws today.
  • @harveyisaboysname ugh. I went to a tailgate couples baby shower for my husbands side of the family. Not as bad as a brewery. But I was offered a mimosa no less than 3 times.

@thatbaintforbetty Yes! They are grape chewable ones made for kids 3+. I gave him half tonight (he's 15 months). We'll see how it goes! I'll try boring him too, @professormama 😀
Ever since we came home from CA in July he just stopped sleeping. I blamed lag initially but now it's almost October.
  • DD went through a phase early this year and woke up at 4:30 for over a month. We finally invested in a toddler alarm clock (off amazon) and it took about a week for her to catch on. I highly recommend doing this.
  • @roo1381 it probably started as jet lag then became a habit. Kids 🙄
  • I spent so much money this weekend...ugh.  the up side is, that I got a jump on Christmas shopping. Took care of my mother in law (Christmas and birthday), and got a good start on my son’s Christmas stocking and clothes box. I found stick-on mustaches, mini walkie-talkies, a moon night light, and a cute bug magnifying glass.

Plus I bought the cutest book to explain where babies come from. The baby tree. It’s developmentally appropriate, but also accurate! Planning to give it to our son when we tell him about the baby.
  • 8pm. Time for bed. This first trimester tiredness is kicking my butt. I already took a nap when DD napped today!

  • All I want to do is sleep and eat cheese!
DH is upset that I can never sit through a movie without dozing off. Uh yea...I’m growing a tiny human! I’m exhausted!
  • My poor kiddo has a stomach bug. And of course we are a 3.5 hour drive from home. Blah.
  • @professormama I’m so jealous you started Christmas shopping already! I used to be so good about finding deals and getting my shopping done early. Two kiddos makes it hard to do now. Also hope your little one feels better and sleeps on the drive home
  • @mermaidca, glad my kid is not the only one to do this.  He runs around the house singing "all I can say is that you're welcome," from Moana over and over...

@professormama, that sounds like a good book, I'll have to look into it!  And ugh, stomach bug plus car ride is no fun :frowning:.  My kid gets car sick occassionally... it's not a good time.

@lovelybabybumpz, I went to bed at 8:30 last night when my kid did and didn't wake up (except to pee...) until 9:45 this morning.  Crazy thing is, neither did my kid.  Poor guy has a head cold and isn't feeling the greatest.

@izzymarie80, my DH complains about that with me on a normal basis, haha.  Trying to watch a movie now is basically impossible.

I haven't even thought about Halloween yet, much less Christmas!  Props to you, @professormama.  My kid decided yesterday he wants to be popcorn for Halloween... now to go hit Pinterest!

  • Thanks for the good vibes y’all. He hasn’t thrown up since 7:30, though he did then sleep until 10am. We are just getting on the road, and I’m sure he won’t nap. Hopefully we have a smooth ride home...
  • @kangstadt could he be a box of movie popcorn, with the only actual “popcorn” on the top? Maybe tissue paper popcorn?

    @professormama good luck!

@izzymarie80 I feel asleep Friday night in the middle of a Star Wars movie I wanted to watch. :(
  • @lyse01, I was thinking tissue paper also, kind of like making tissue paper flowers.  Everything online seems to use insulation foam to make the kernels, but I'm definitely not using that on my kid's costume!

  • I’m exhausted.  I babysat my friends 4 (foster) kids last night.  Ages 16, 6, and 22 month old twins.  16 year old was a huge help with the babies, thankfully.  However one of the twins woke up at 3:30am, and was screaming and naturally woke the other one. I was able to get them back to sleep, and they slept until 7, but I didn’t fall back to sleep until 6.  So that sucked.  All 4 kids were pretty good though.  My DH was so great with them too, he sat down and read to the 6 year old, and was helping her learn to read, which had me (a former teacher) in tears.
  • @aqualicious, you're braver than I am!  You watched them all overnight?  Props.

Ugh.  Just had my first episode of running to the toilet to dry heave.  I'm 11 weeks, isn't it supposed to be getting better by now?!  I haven't puked yet and now this.  Blech.  Hope this isn't a sign it's getting worse.

  • DH dragged us to this park an hour and a half from our house. The playground is smaller than my bathroom. It has one slide. I’m praying that I have to throw up so he will take us home. This is the biggest waste of a Sunday ever.
  • @kangstadt I spent all night dry heaving and sick to my stomach for absolutely no reason  :(
I'm keeping everything crossed that it gets better once I'm in the second trimester. My friend just told me hers went away at 6 months. Dear lord no.
  • @harveyisaboysname, was there a nostalgic reason for that particular playground?  I'm sorry, hopefully you can get him to stop and buy you food/ice cream something on the way home to make up for it!

@kaleesi93, 6 months?!  I may cry.  More than I already have that is.

  • @kangstadt, @kaleesi93, +3 to still puking; I threw up three times yesterday- I'm begging for this to start getting better soon!

    @kangstadt I know  :sweat:
@sheknows6 I was so sick last weekend, I puked from friday to monday and had to call off work. Ugh.
Feeling sick for little bubs I can do. Violently puking and passing out.. um less so. I'm just hoping I get better and avoid another trip to the ER for IVs...
My body has never just puked once. Its puking for so long I've got a bucket of bike. Yay me.
  • I went looking for maternity bras at Wal-Mart. Their size range only goes up to 2X and I left feeling discouraged. I don't want to buy online or at the expensive Maternity store in my city. How could they not have anything larger than 2X? :(
  • @mighty_montgomery does Walmart carry larger sizes online? Because then you can ship to the store for free.

I started cleaning out my closet today to make room for maternity clothes. I took out 70+ shirts and it doesn’t even look like I’ve made a dent. And I haven’t even touched my pants or sweaters. Ugh! I guess this means I have too many clothes that I don’t even wear lol.
  • Hubs and I attended some dear friends’ wedding this weekend. Normally I’m a gin and tonic or beer drinker, so luckily for me, all summer I’ve been drinking seltzer with lime, but saying it’s a G&T when asked. The wedding, however, was at a brewery, so it was hard to keep up the rouse. A few people inquired about what I was drinking (nosy!!), but I said I wasn’t drinking due to a switch in my thyroid meds (which is actually true), but also that I was the DD for the night (also true!). My husband’s best friend point blank asked him if I was pregnant — poor hubs was in shock and just told him to keep his mouth shut! We were not planning to tell anyone outside our parents and siblings until we hit the 12 week mark.
  • @llamamamanyc First off, love your username. Second, that sounds horrible to be at a brewery with all those other folks drinking! I also hate it when someone just asks if you're pregnant. I wasn't drinking during a TWW and going through fertility treatment, and I had a guy friend ask me the same when I refused a beer. Ridiculous that that might be the only reason someone isn't drinking.

  • ordered a baby doppler... the company babydoppler has then pretty cheap, plus you can pay through Amazon and I got a shipping notice within a couple hours and it should be here by the end of the week.

  • @sheepshepherdess Thank you! And right?! Why do people have to be so nosy?! We’ve told people that we were TTC, so it’s not like it should be a huge surprise to anyone, but my goodness! Why can’t people mind their own business? I had an early MC right before this pregnancy, so all the more reason that we want to keep it quiet for now. After I have my NT ultrasound on 10/17 we’ll start telling people.
  • @blueberrymomma I found ones that fit today! They are from the store "Roses" at $5 each. Such a bargain.
@kosmo86 My husband and I bought one too! Our ultrasound techs won't provide sound for the heartbeat until 14 weeks so we ordered a cheap Doppler online. Reviews often cited the numbers were off for FHR but the sound is accurate. I've been warned not to use it too often because its use hasn't been thoroughly researched for safety. Plus having one can lead to overuse/anxiety. I plan on talking about this with DH when it arrives bc I don't think he has considered depending on the Doppler more than is necessary or researched whether or not It's safe to use frequently. However, we are happy to know that so far baby is doing fine and shows no signs of abnormalities or risks. I am thinking about using ours just once a week. Have you heard of any cons to having an at-home doppler?
