@MouseMama817 @mockingjay1 I haven't used the haakaa but I remembered reading about it a while ago, plus I can't sleep tonight so I just looked it up. It looks like it just creates suction, so you put it on your breast and leave it there to catch the milk. Apparently the suction helps the milk come out so you don't have to do anything? Very strange and I want to get one now to see how it works. The reviews for it are pretty awesome. People say it can't be used in place of a regular pump, but it can help with engorgement between feedings and can be used to catch the letdown while the baby feeds from the other breast.
ETA: Never mind, some people say if you just want to catch let down, you shouldn't apply the suction, just hold it in place for a little bit. Otherwise, the suction makes it act as a pump and could lead to oversupply if your body thinks you need to create so much extra milk.

Fyi anyone ordering a spectra S2 through aeroflow if you get the bundle with the cheapest totes bag (forget the name atm and too lazy to check) apparently the pump "technically" fits the tote but not well and def not with supplies. Apparently they offer it that way just to have an option for ~$30 since the next tote is like $100 I think (again too lazy to go double check lol).

@offtoneverland no. I didn't (at least not yet) but if you read the reviews online there were varying opinions regarding it. So I emailed the lady who has been in contact with me from there and asked and she said that they offer it just to have a less expensive option available since they can't offer just the pump without a tote for some insurance reimbursement reason (?). I'm still gonna get it and use the tote for whatever (apparently it's a nice laptop bag/purse) and just use one of my big purses for the pump when I go back to work.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I got a spectra s2 from Aeroflow without a tote. I already have a bunch of bags lying around and I SAH so it didn’t seem necessary. Brought my out of pocket to a whopping $0. That’s weird they told you that? Maybe your insurance really wants you to have a bag or it varies by state?

@lurvleybunchococonuts is that the only dme your insurance let's you use? So strange I went Spectra s2 and had about 10 options to order through and none of them required a bag purchase.

just checked my insurance online and found another place I can order through. *facepalm* submitted my info through them and waiting to hear back. FX I can just get the pump and not have to order a bag.

@marfi236 what has you leaning towards the Lasinoh? The Spectra is fantastic and you definitely can't go wrong with it. I am going to reuse my S2 for this baby, too.

With regards to bags for it, I can't remember if I mentioned this somewhere before in this thread (probably did) but the round shape makes it a bit weird to carry in smaller bags (just doesn't lay flat). I ended up using my Skip Hop Grand Central diaper bag and it fit everything I needed (you could fit the pump, supplies and small cooler). I probably could have not carried a separate purse, even, but I didn't want to have to lug such a large bag around unnecessarily.

@purelex I like that the Lansinoh can be used battery powered (I know the S1 is also an option but my insurance doens't cover that one so it would be $135 where the S2 and the Lansinoh are both covered completely). I'm leaning toward the S2 but the battery option of the Lansinoh keeps me from fully committing!

@marfi236 I went through Edgepark Medical Supplies. It was heckin FAST! Filled out the form on 9/24, they contacted whomever needed to be contacted. Sent me a message on 9/27 stating it was shipped and just had one other form authorizing it that I just had to sign electronically and resubmit. And then I had it by 9/28.
(For reference I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and live in WI)
