Does anyone recommend a place to get nice maternity leggings I can wear during the winter? I have a black pair from previous pregnancy that I got from Motherhood Maternity but they are thin and I don't like wearing them when it's below 40 degrees. Looking just for a thicker material, maybe similar to LLR thickness.
@rennie1108 the maternity sports bras from Senita Athletics are really nice. As is everything else from there. Unfortunately they seem to be perpetually or if stock. I got a small but I’m waiting to get some mediums that I know I’ll need in the beginning at least.
I’ve been buying some used clothes from poshmark but I do plan on going to motherhood maternity to get a few cute items to wear as staple pieces. I feel like such a gross fat cow and I think it will help me if I have some clothes I’m actually excited to put in, rather than crying because my clothes look so terrible lol

I’m hoping to get by with lularoe leggings if they get too right I might just get a few of the next size up, I have friends that used them their whole pregnancy.
I bit the bullet and bought the Blanqi leggings this week 😬 I found them for sale on Poshmark, and I have to say that I kinda get the hype!
Ok, I'll bite, tell me more! I keep eyeing them but they kind of look more like tights/leggings vs. leggings/pants and I'd rather them be a little more pant-like, and I heard they pill really easily. What's your take?
I'd love to get a few new sports bra (nursing or otherwise) but I cannot for the life of me justify spending $40+ on one item of clothing. Are there any decent nursing bras that are under $25?
I usually look at the clearance section of Target or TJ Maxx, but obviously that's hit or miss. And I've been feeling so gross lately the idea of shopping at all is not appealing unless it's from the comfort of my own home, haha.
It finally happened. I had to use the rubber band trick to wear my pants today. I haven't even gained that much weight. I suppose I should look into belly bands, if they even have them for plus sizes. Luckily, it's getting cooler here, so I'll be able to start wearing my leggings religiously, and that shouldn't be a problem.
@gollygeeitsamy I actually think my target brand leggings are thicker than most. I won't be able to wear them all through the pregnancy (I didn't last time at least) but they should last at least through second trimester.
@kangstadt I love target nursing bras. When I’m pregnant or nursing for some reason I can’t stand underwire and those have by far been the comfiest. I have some $50+ nursing bras and I hate them. I’ve also had decent luck with affordable nursing and pumping bras from amazon. I just always read the reviews so I know what I’m getting

Ah! I got a BNWT pair off ebay - I'm excited to try them but I'm afraid of the sizing. I got the pair that matches up with my non-preg pants size but I'm just scared they won't fit. We'll see next Wednesday.
@MRDCle & @Piccola1988 they are definitely more like leggings than pants. However, they are not see through AT ALL. So, you can definitely wear them with your thighs uncovered and not feel worried. I went with my normal, pre pregnancy size and that seemed to be the right move. There is a ton of stretch in the belly that it seems like it will fit throughout, but still is firm enough to stay up now. There is some compression in the legs, which I really like. It doesn’t really seem like there will be much compression under the belly, which I had expected for some reason...but otherwise they seem great. They don’t seem like they will pill, but I can keep you posted on that. Definitely look to get them on sale if you can though!
@jamieprey thanks for the update on the leggings. They might just be worth the price if they’re not see through! I hate how think most maternity leggings are. Do they pass the see through test on your bottom if you bend over?
I just got my box of maternity clothes back from my cousin and I have to re-wash it all. Not her fault but she uses Tide and I’m allergic to it. I’m already so behind on the kids laundry that I don’t want to do more lol
My maternity jeans were falling down as I walked all over town today...which sucks because normal jeans would def have been uncomfortable. Ughhh.
Yeah, the only clothes that stay up or are comfy for me right now are my lularoe leggings. I tried some leggings with lots of space on waist for when I’m bigger and they fell down all day and my maternity jeans have to be hiked up every 20-30 minutes.
My boobs started hurting/swelling pretty early on, so I ordered a few bras from Kindred Bravely online (they were having an end of summer clearance sale a few weeks ago). Since I’m planning on breastfeeding, I got a few nursing bras. Their sizing chart was pretty accurate. I’ve found the KB nursing bras to be really comfortable, and I do have a little room to grow too. Also loving my Bella Band this week! I’ve been extremely bloated for a couple weeks, and it’s the only way I can bear to wear pants right now. Also, thank goodness for cooler fall temps so I can start wearing my drapey open cardigans!
Definitely cardigans and sweaters are my best friends right now during this stage where I look like a plump oompa loompa.
Last night I did some maternity clothes shopping on Amazon, so I'll see how those fit when they come in! Yay for prime and free shipping/returns.
Our Kohl's and Target has an insanely pathetic selection of maternity clothes, so I'm thinking of heading to NH at some point this week to go to motherhood maternity.
@mels823 our Target just reduced their maternity section and I’m pissed. They had a great selection during my last pregnancy and now it’s dismal at best. Now I have to drive an hour+ to find decent maternity clothes.
@kangstadt I purchased comfortable bras that will work as maternity & nursing bras from Roses. They were only $5 each and their selection is good in my opinion. Do you have a Roses store in your area? I like the bras with removable pads because I can place nursing pads inside the bra as well as next to my skin for added absorption.
@blueberrymomma yes they do! I’m a pretty shy person and I even felt comfortable lifting up my shirt in front of my boss to show her how you can’t see through them at all 😂
I feel like a lot of my clothing is loose enough, or stretchy enough, that it will transition to maternity clothes, but for now I'm just feeling fat trying to hide my bloat so as to not arouse suspicion. Combined with feeling shitty/tired all the time.
I just bought some fat pants. Aka full panel maternity jeans. I didn’t own any last pregnancy. Completely different season. So this is new and exciting for me. And comfortable.
Best part is that they are petite and and I don’t have to get them shortened. I almost always need to get my pants shortened, even ankle length or petite sizes.
Weighing in on the leggings. I just bought the Spanx maternity leggings at Pea in the Pod because non-PG me lives in my Spanx regular and faux leather leggings and while pricey ($75-110) they last forever and are my uniform. I ignored reviews of the maternity one that said the crotch sags down because this never happens in my regular Spanx so I just hoped for the best, but I wore them for the first time when flying yesterday and walking through the terminal repeatedly had to keep hiking them up. It’s not that they are too big...it’s literally that just the crutch part slides down. Very weird, but probably not worth $78.
What is with all the used nursing bras for sale everywhere? I get that it's not exactly the same as panties, and milk is cool, but it grosses me out to think of wearing something that somebody else leaked in.. why is it a thing? NWT I get, but full on nasty stained stretched out for $30 I don't get.
Okay, so I went to Motherhood Maternity today and went straight to the plaid shirts for some cute fall outfits. XL because my boobs are H cup. Every single shirt fit now (won’t be long enough for the bump at 6 months), but the tie in the back is waaaaay too high, in that it hits at nipple level, not below the boobs. Besides buying and getting a tailor to move the tie loops down four inches, what are my options? Do the 1XL/2XL sizes online have similar issues? Should I just be looking at a different brand?
I’m excited for maternity clothes. Has anyone done stitch fix? I’ve done it and really liked it for non-maternity clothes. Also appreciate all the recommendations for third love I want to try that... none of my bras fit well currently.
@racherickson90 I did stitch fix my last pregnancy(3 years ago) and wasn’t thrilled with the fit or quality for the price. I think I only kept a pair of leggings. However they had just started doing maternity wear so they are hopefully better now. I will probably try it again to get something cute for the holidays
I just found the best skinny jeans at motherhood maternity and they aren't even jeans, they are jeggings. Why have I scoffed at jeggings before this? It's like I'm wearing pajamas at work. Seriously, go get a pair.
@lyse01 I saw that target had some plaid shirts that were more like tunics that might work for you. They had two different types, one type was a thinner cotton material that had a tie but the ones I'm thinking about were more thicker like flannel. I tried looking for them on the website but didn't see the ones I saw in store that I'm thinking about.

I shoukd just just wear dresses.

I'll probably suck it up and reuse the ones I have left from my first pregnancy, although I haven't tried them on in three years....
