@fuscok88 My midwife has been amazing. She supported a VBAC for DD even though it had only been 18 months since my c-section with DS. Our insurance may change before this one is born. If I have to go somewhere else, I'll find another midwife for sure.
@jessica41879 that's awesome, my only concern is what if the labour doesn't go that well. I would still do it in a hospital so I guess if it got serious an OB would step in?
@ruby696 that's awesome! I'm glad you've had a good experience so far. I've only talked to this midwife over the phone when I made the interview appointment but she was super supportive of a VBAC and asked several questions about my previous birth to ensure I was a good candidate. Added bonus- she's covered by both mine and my fiances insurances for a homebirth!
@cikcikpolicnik I feel the exact same way- a doctor will most definitely step in if complications arise or CS is needed. My midwife group is actually located in the hospital idk but that actually makes me feel better. Totally a mental thing lol. But either way you choose you can’t go wrong just follow your instincts.
@jessica41879 and @cikcikpolicnik In my experience, the L&D nurses do all the work until it's time to push. With both my kids, my midwife had other patients in the hospital giving birth at the same time I was. She rotated in and out when she could, and focused on where she was needed the most. The L&D nurses are awesome and will take great care of you from start to finish. If there are complications, whoever the attending doctor/surgeon is will come in and take over and the midwife will assist. Mine assisted in DS's c-section. A different midwife from the same practice delivered DD, who was a VBAC baby.
@cikcikpolicnik any midwife worth their salt should recognize when they're in over their head and call an OB in. My midwives provided me with a list at my first appointment for my last pregnancy that included the scenarios and complications that would require a transfer of care to an OB both before the actual birth and during labour and delivery. Definitely a good idea to ask them about this if you're worried, if they don't provide that info.
