Mom-to-be Playlist

Ok ladies, tell me I’m not the only crazy one who has started putting together a pregnancy playlist. So far I’ve got
Everything Changes from the musical, Waitress.
Crazy Little Thing Called Love sung by Michael Bublé
Disney Love Medley and Baby Mine sung by Voctave
along with more upbeat and emotional hits. But I would love to hear what song tugs at your heartstrings and makes you think of Baby! <3

Re: Mom-to-be Playlist

  • Do you mean a playlist for when you're giving birth? Or just a playlist to listen to throughout your pregnancy?

  • Loading the player...
  •  Steve Martin & Edie Brickell - My Baby! That song gets me crying in two seconds when I am pregnant.

"You're gonna miss this" by trace adkins
"It won't be like this for long" Darius Rucker
    "Small bump" Ed Sheeran*
    "Capri" Colbie Caillait
"Godspeed" Dixie Chicks ( I sing this one to my boys at bedtime :) )

    * ETA: I didnt realize Small Bump is a TW and about loss. Sorry for anyone that listened without knowing. NOT a good pregnancy song at ALL.

  • @ElleJDubs thanks for all those good suggestions! Love me some Trace Adkins. I don’t think I know that one by the Dixie Chicks. Looking forward to looking them all up. Thanks!

Btw I HIGHLY recommend seeing Mamma Mia 2 with your mom. Their version of I’ve Been Waiting for You is impeccable.
  • @ElleJDubs those were all perfect! I added them ALL to my list. Thank you!

    "Timshel" by Mumford and Sons
"You Are Your Mother's Child" by Conor Oberst (this one is more about childhood/your kid growing up)

My first pregnancy was unplanned, and DH and I weren't married so I listened to "More Adventurous" by Rilo Kiley and "Runaways" by The Killers a lot with that one.

  • I think I'm going to make a playlist! I didnt when I had DS and I was induced. It would of been so nice to have a playlist to listen to while we were waiting in the hospital. I also like when I hear certain songs how it reminds me of certain times in my life so I'd love to have a few that I listen to through this pregnancy that will remind me of being pregnant with this baby.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge it took me a few listens but yeah, I finally realized what that song was really about. TW
    still a precious song, though.
  • Thanks @brie_and_almonds I can’t wait to look those up!
  • Ooo, I also really like A thousand years by christina perri even though it's meant for lovers it still applies to babies I think :)

  • @DuchessOfCambridge and @beccabek92 I did not listen to those lyrics close enough... so sorry if it triggered anyone. I will add that It's actually not a great song for pregnancy to my post.

  • @ElleJDubs it is a great song though, but true, I do avoid it while pregnant. He has so many good songs. Random - my H is convinced Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” is about meeting your unborn child. So that could be a good pregnancy song if you feel as he does hahaha

  • Sounds like you and I have similar tastes! Most people have never heard of Voctave Their princess medley is also pretty great. Someone else mentioned Timshel by Mumford and Sons, there’s a quartet called GQ that does a great cover of that, as well as You Are My Sunshine. Other tunes on my list are Light In The Hallway, a lullaby by Pentatonix, and if your religious/Christian Virtuoso by David Phelps and Dry Bones by Lauren Daigle are inspiring. This is how I plan to get in the right mindset for contractions! I love this thread, I can’t wait to see what other suggestions come up.
  • @ElleJDubs a thousand years was my favorite while expecting my dd!

Make you feel my love by Adele was what I sang while rocking to sleep for the first year, still love it
  • Born to be yours by Imagine Dragons. I think it could be for either spouses or children.
  • Cecilia and the Satellite by Andrew Mahon “for all the things my hands have held the best by far is you” makes me think of when DD was a newborn :)
  • Cecilia and the Satellite by Andrew Mahon “for all the things my hands have held the best by far is you” makes me think of when DD was a newborn :)
We have this quote hanging in DS’s nursery  :)

  • That is so sweet @DuchessOfCambridge Love that
  • “Slow Down” by Nichole Nordeman
”I Hope You Dance” by LeeAnn Womack
    ”Tiny Hearts” by Kimberly Henderson
    “Naleigh Moon” by Josh Kelley
  • @ElleJDubs thank you so much for the Thousand Years recommend. I had a scary US yesterday and really needed a healing cry. This song gave me that and the hope I needed to make it through these next two weeks until our next US.

@DuchessOfCambridge haha! And I have been wanting a good meaning for that great Buble song. Please thank your DH for me.

@lmarie2009 O.M.G. I literally did a happy dance when I saw how much we have in common. I have been following PTX since 2014 and Light in the Hallway is already on the list. (I just didn’t include it because I didn’t think other people would recognize them). I can’t wait to listen to your other recommends.

@ashleaf2018 I just added “I Hope You Dance” to my list the other day. Classic. Thanks for the other recommends too!

@thebobloblaw as soon as I saw your post I couldn’t get “Make You feel my love” out of my head. Listened to it twice already. Thank you.

I am am so glad y’all are excited about this thread! I’m also really glad to know I’m not the only emotional one who needs to savor every moment with songs. I just love this community. :D<3
  • I didn’t even think of “I Just Haven’t Met You Yet,” I love that song. I also haven’t heard the Imagine Dragons song, and will be listening to that one and “Cecelia and the Satellite” tonight!  Can’t wait to get more suggestions!
  • Some others that I didn’t mention earlier:

    Norah Jones
    “Waiting”
    “And Then There Was You”

    ”An Innocent Warrior” Moana soundtrack

    Voctave
    ”Something’s Coming”
    ”Being Alive”

“Get Back Up Again” Trolls soundtrack

    ”Landslide” Dixie Chicks

ETA: I was listening to “You Are Your Mother’s Child” when a coworker walked by and asked what was making me all smiley. Thanks for that one @brie_and_almonds
