I have a cross between anatomical and wacky story:) When I was a freshman in high school, I woke up with a bat on my face. It scratched me and we couldn't catch it so I had to get rabies post-exposure treatment. I slept with the light on for a few months after that! But, eight years later it saved my broke self $400 because I didn't need to get vaccinated for rabies (requirement at the start of vet school). That little bat was doing me a favor and I didn't even know it.
@ScootsMcG I would sleep with something over my head for the rest of my life if that happened to me.
I've also traveled quite a bit. I think I'm up to 25ish countries and about the same number of states. I'm worried I'll never travel again once we have this baby
@kadeephd If it’s any consolation, my son, at 20 months, has been to 14 states (and DC), along with Germany, Georgia, Canada, and the Bahamas! It can be done! (Yes, we’ve had a busy couple of years, haha.)

@PensiveCrayon Wow! That is one well-traveled toddler. I'm mostly worried we won't be able to afford to travel as much now, but I've always been good at finding deals and traveled a lot as a poor undergrad, so I will probably figure out how to make it happen if I want to.
@kadeephd It really doesn’t cost anything extra the first 2 years because they can fly as a lap infant for free. Now that DS is 2, it is actually going to cost us, though.
@texas_t That would have been a good idea!. We lived in an old farmhouse and my grandparents lived next door in a relatively new house, so I slept there for awhile, and kept the light on. I still don't love bats....and no interest in healing wildlife:)!!!!
@CecilB93 I love figure skating. I skated for a year or two and then my mom got a full time job and couldn't take me anymore. I was so bummed. I loved skating.

Re: anatomical quirks... you know when you're thinking and your lips might move to one side or the other of your face? I can't find a good image of it, but kind of like this emoji face:
Yeah, I can only do that on one side. I cannot raise the top left lip at all unless the other one is raised in a smile as well. If I try, it looks ridiculous and my lower left lip goes downwards instead of the top lip going up. Dunno.
For other tidbits... my mom tells me that my grandfather helped to create the process by which we make cheese whiz. Sorry, guys. My family helped ruin America's health. Too bad he went off to the war and thought he was going to die... so he gave his research to a little known company named Kraft. He didn't die. We could be rich right now, y'all. My mom grew up getting all sorts of free Kraft products and cheeses at Christmas time until he passed away when she was a young adult. Also, interesting, this same grandfather grew up in an Amish community and went on his rumspringa (not sure of the correct usage of the word, but when they go out to see the world for a year or two) and decided not to go back. He went to college, got a doctorate, and did research on cheese. Families are weird!
@omnommer That is awesome! I actually will eat Cheese whiz from time to time. DH and I like to put it on Chicken in a Biscuit crackers with some crab meat when we have crabs in the summer. It's so good!

@hkom@morgantu@AdorkablePixie Thanks guys, haha! I'm sure he's not the only one who's research helped Kraft create actual Cheese Whiz... but the fact that the family got free cheese and other products as long as he lived is super interesting!
I have all sorts of odd “qualifications” for my job - I work at a summer camp for kids. I have a PhD in Developmental Psychology, which makes me kind of an oddity in the camp world. Most people have recreation degrees or outdoor ed or other education areas. And to save our organization $ on training staff costs, I am certified as an instructor for lifeguarding, archery, CPR, First Aid, youth work methods, and a whole bunch of other things.
I grew up going to the same camp I work at now, so I’ve spent 34 out of the 39 summers of my life at the same camp.
I was a competitive swimmer growing up and swam in college. I went to Olympic Trials in 2000 and at one point I was an American Record holder as apart of a relay.
I never swim now. LOL

@krob Olympic trials! That’s impressive! I swam competitively from 1st grade through HS and I miss it, but not enough to actually undress, be wet, shower, dry my hair, and redress on a regular basis.
Wow y'all have some seriously interesting stories anatomical traits!
I can't think of anything all that interesting. Best I have right now is that when I was younger I used to be able to shake my eyes back and forth. I'm sure I've got something better, I'll come back later if I think of it!
@krob Very cool fellow swimmer! I competed from 4yo to 21 yo. Made it to Nationals at 16yo but I didn’t do too well there :I I never swim now either, but I just bought a maternity suite cause I think it would really help me feel better! l’m also super excited to teach my LO to swim (while resisting the urge to project my competitive streak on him )
@Desiree113 Swimming with my children is one of the activities I looked forward to the most. We started DS in swim lessons at six months old and it made me so happy to see how much he loved in the water too!
