When is your appointment? Yesterday, 9/6 How far along will you be? 28w 3d What is being addressed? 3 Hour GTT (second and final one this pregnancy!) Questions/Comments/Concerns: Got the results back this morning and my sugar is normal! So glad, just have to up my iron a little bit. I'm feeling so much relief right now, and starting to get into the mode of planning all the things we have to do with the third trimester in full swing.
Just finished with my ultrasound and waiting on the OB since she was called to an unscheduled c-section this morning. Baby is measuring 2 weeks and 3 days ahead again (s/he did at the 19w anatomy scan too). All of baby’s measurements and weight says the due date should be 11/3, but my EDD is 11/20! OB wasn’t worried about size at the anatomy scan, but I’m curious what she thinks now that baby is consistently measuring way ahead. Stay tuned for updates!
What is being addressed? Routine check up - any issues since I had a single bout of spotting. No spotting since! Just usual aches and pains of hips widening and what not
Questions/Comments/Concerns: OB said that everything looked good! Heartbeat was still strong and said I can travel down south next week! Didn’t seem concerned about the spotting at all - I was so relieved and in such a good mood I went on a little shopping spree haha
My appt was yesterday at 32 weeks for a growth ultrasound since I failed my glucose test. Baby was measuring in the 30th percentile, estimated at 3 lbs 13 oz (and didn’t cooperate for any good pics of his face!). My OB said she thinks that further confirms I don’t actually have GD, I just do badly with the glucose tests since I don’t eat a lot of sugar (she actually told me at the last appt I don’t need to do blood sugar readings anymore since they’re all perfect). And cervix was still nice and long still, so any random cramps/contractions I’ve had have just been annoying (and I’m hoping it means another quick and easy labor like my second since my body is practicing).
Update: OB still isn’t concerned with baby’s size, so I guess that’s good! I suppose I’m just a good incubator haha! I did lose two pounds, so she wants me to make sure I’m getting enough “me” food (not carbs/sugars that will just go straight to baby) but 2lbs isn’t a big deal. And all the contractions I was having to track are just strong Braxton Hicks. I had one while I was with her, so she got a good feel and could confirm they’re nothing to worry about at all. Maybe all these practice contractions will make for an easy labor! All good news
My appointment yesterday went well. Just a general appointment, but they did recheck my hemoglobin and hematocrit because they were low at 24 weeks. Apparently they went up slightly but are still low, so I'm supposed to take iron 2x a day now. I hope we can get it up before delivery, because I lost a liter of blood with my c-section with DS. I don't want to lose that much again starting out anemic. We also had a 3d/4d u/s today that I'll post a picture of in the u/s thread when I go through the pictures. Baby was SO active and wouldn't stop moving and putting his/her hands in it's mouth.

@rosebud1230 thanks so much for sharing your list!
Appointment update: the 3 hour GTT on Friday was absolutely horrible, they were actually worried about me passing out between the 2 hour and 3 hour draws so they made me stay in the blood draw room with my legs up. I'm happy to report, however, that the doctor emailed me on Saturday that I passed all 4 blood draw tests and do not have GD! Yayyy.
Glad to hear so much good news in here. I had an appt today, I saw a Nurse Practitioner who I hadn't seen before. I was in tears the whole time because of this polyhydramnios diagnosis and being so unsure of what that means for my baby, and being so uncertain about the advice to eat no carbs except veggies and beans and some dairy, even without a GD diagnosis. The baby's doing well, but the NP was pretty dismissive of my feelings, offering advice like "you should get some protein powder" and "you should just eat ground turkey with some cabbage." And when I asked why a report said a prognosis was discussed, when it wasn't in reality, she dismissed that like "oh that's something the doctor probably just usually puts in the note." And when I asked how this will be monitored, and she just said that I'd have an ultrasound in 6 weeks and should feel lucky because moms with normal pregnancies don't get that. She also said that measuring fundal height was how they monitored this ........ but then fundal height was perfect (32cm at 32 weeks, juuuust like every other time I've gone in for a check-up). WTF. And I lost 6 pounds in a week because I've been too anxious to eat, and can't find enough ways to get calories, and she just said that it's good that I'll be able to eat better for my whole life because of this. It's not like I'm binging on ice cream every day (or ever), lady. I felt my feelings were minimized and the problem dismissed. I like my OB a lot, but some of the other folks at the practice are not great. Just wanted to vent.
@laasmith *hugs* I'm so sorry you had to deal with that at your appt and that the NP didn't help explain/reassure you. Some people are just awful caregivers dismissing a mother's feelings and concerns is NOT okay. Can you contact the clinic and request to never see that NP again?

@ginny_203 the tech at my last 3 hour gtt told me sleeping or passing out between the later draws was pretty common. Surprised there was so much concern but thankful for the results!
@laasmith so sorry for your experiences with this group, are you going to look into other practices? Sounds like you are continually unhappy with them. I think a second opinion on the polyhydramnios is worth it since they can't seem to explain it to you appropriately.
Update: 30wk appt went good! Lulu had a HB of 135 and is measuring right on track BP was all good and still holding at the same weight as 2wks ago.

@laasmith that is not ok. If you have questions concerns about a diagnosis or course of treatment your practitioner should talk them through thoroughly. I would absolutely follow up with other OBs at the practice about your concerns.
@hollyeva, @wannaflickone, @lurvleybunchococonuts@lifesabeach85 : thank you all. I won't be seeing that NP again, I get to choose who I schedule appts with (unless there's an emergency). I think it's a little late to be looking into other practices, since I'm 31+6 and a little higher risk because of chronic hypertension (which continues to be in the same range as usual, and not that bad, thankfully no pre-e symptoms) and now polyhydramnios (though mild), and what they're calling glucose intolerance (I failed the 1hour glucose, passed the GTT). I'd worry that no other practice would take me. Meanwhile, everything with baby girl looks normal/average. But I will be making this known-- it's a large medical center where we do all of our care, they send out customer service surveys after every appt (I used to work somewhere similar, and those surveys *matter* particularly for employee reviews). I also had a nightmare getting the GTT done, where the only tech on-duty didn't even know what the test was and told me to go home after the fasting draw, and when I explained it, he didn't even know what the drink was and offered to just take my blood once per hour for three hours. I have an appt with another OB in the practice in 4 weeks, and a different NP in 2 weeks. My OB hasn’t been available, so I haven’t heard her opinion (dx was made by the MFM specialist). My husband agrees with y’all that a second opinion would be good— but I’d have to find the energy to find someone and the time to book the appt.
@laasmith - I agree with speaking to someone in the practice about how the NP dismissed your concerns. I'm glad you won't have to see her again. The u/s pics are in the u/s thread at the top
