I'm sending my first baby off to Kindergarten today. Women should not have to go through such emotionally crazy times like this when pregnant. Also, DH doesn't think it's a big deal and he leaves for work at 5am so I get to do this all alone. Please excuse me while I spend my day balling in my office
Silver lining - 23 wks today, 1 more week till viability AND DS got to feel the baby kick for the first time yesterday and he was so excited!!
@bradleysmommy28 awww good luck with your first day!! I'm sure he'll have so much fun!
I have a little bit of a summer cold. I sneezed this morning, went to direct it into my inner elbow as they say to do, and somehow ended up getting my lipstick on my dress sleeve in a perfect kiss mark Solid start to the day.
We started working on the nursery this weekend (carpet pulled, hardwood stained and popcorn ceiling replaced) and DS loves it so much he wants us to do his room. DH thinks we should go ahead and do it since the nursery is empty and we can easily move DS in there for a week or so to re-do his room. Part of me is on board, part of me thinks it's insanity.
We had the anatomy scan today, and we're having a healthy baby GIRL! I'm thrilled!
The day started off as a disaster when we drove our new car out of the garage, realized it had a flat tire from DH running over glass yesterday, and then he was flustered and backed it back into the garage and scratched the side He'll be taking care of the tires today, and hopefully the scratch isn't as bad as it looked. It put a big damper on the morning, but I'm just going to focus on the good anatomy scan. This is why we don't buy nice things!

I think the random crying has started... I tried to take a bath in our new place last night, filled it with bath salts & lit candles & put on a face mask & made myself an infused ice water. I was SO excited to soak post-move. Then I realized the drain stopper wasn't working and it drained most of the warm water so it was lukewarm at best, and all my bath salts had drained too. SO found out how to block the drain (TY, pregnancy brain) & offered to boil some water to add (because I used all the warm water filling up a tub that was draining), so I sat in the cold tub for 15 minutes before saying f*ck it and getting out. Then I started sobbing in bed, and felt stupid about it to boot.
It wasn't just the bath, it was that a bath is like the one thing I am able to do at this point to take the edge off of a long weekend (and even then, not too hot) and I couldn't even have that. Ugh. Please tell me I'm not crazy lol.
@ladystout08 the crazy thing was that it barely rained in my town! I had family members who were stranded because of highways being closed, but it must have missed us. How's your yard holding up?
@kianarain You're not crazy. It's hard to find time to treat yourself, and it's a bummer when it doesn't work out.
ETA: @ladystout08 are you having a girl, too? When we're not internet strangers anymore, maybe they can be friends

@kns1988 I was actually in WV dropping off DS but DH said it poured. We made out okay but like you we had friends that got like 10+ inches of rain. Insanity. And yes, we're having a girl too!
The doctor I see and the hospital in which I will deliver is undergoing a huge merger and I can't wait for the new group to take over. I'm trying to review my chart online and it's a cluster. Some stuff is missing, the dates aren't in chronological order, and there are misspellings on their end.
Also, the nurses are getting my weight wayyyyyy wrong! They noted that in April, I weighed ××× and then a few weeks later, noted that my weight was 25 pounds HEAVIER! Like, I know I put on a couple pounds, but nowhere near 25.
@jgil85 triggered for you..... I hate the weight mess-ups! It's already hard enough to come to terms with the weight we're actually gaining, without having to correct someone else.
My Hs best friend and his girlfriend came down for the weekend and brought 7 bags of gifts!!! Seriously?! This kid isn't even born yet and he's already so spoiled and loved. We had a really nice weekend and love when they visit. It was great getting to spend time with them.
We did soooo much organizing this weekend to get our guest room/ office ready for baby. There’s still a lot to do but we made good headway. We also cleaned out both of our closets. I put away all of my clothes that don’t fit me right now so now I have an idea of what I have to wear. I also weeded out clothes I don’t wear anymore and those will go to our church’s clothing drive. Yay for productivity!
I'm going to be traveling the next two mondays can someone else post the product Spotlight threads for the next two weeks since we're just now caught up? If you are unable to update the excel sheet I can do it when I'm back in town. We're baby mooning to Yellowstone and I have no clue what reception will be like
My morning has gone not at all as planned, but not in a bad way or anything. It's confusing me though for some reason about what day it is, etc.
I keep thinking that at some point we need to start telling DD that she's going to have a little brother/be a big sister, but also I weirdly don't know how. And part of me thinks she really won't get it anyway, so why bother? Is that terrible? Also 20 more weeks is a long wait, so maybe we wait until it's closer to happening? Gah! I don't know!

I'm going to be AWish and toot my own horn here for a minute because I'm really proud of myself. After year 3 or 4 of TTC this baby, I gave away all my baby gear (except swing) so I have to repurchase everything. I wasn't going to buy everything new for one baby, so I've been scouring FB marketplace and Kijiji for EUC stuff. So far I've snagged:
-Matching espresso crib and change table (which is also a large, long dresser) -espresso and cream glider and ottomon (that still had plastic on it from store!) -Britax B-ready stroller with toddler seat AND bassinet attachment -Graco pack n play with change table and removable bassinet/rocker -Highchair
And the grand total? ~$415 USD ($550 CDN)!!!! So proud of myself for saving money The only thing I have left to buy is a Britax infant car seat and extra base but I'll be buying those items brand new (I'm hoping for some good black friday sales).

I had my first day back at work after an almost 2 week vacation..... It was rough coming back!! So many things piled up while I was gone.
I'm in the office this week and next week, then I have to go on a work trip the last two weeks, and THEN things start to settle down. I just need to make it to October.
I decided that today was as good as any other day to bring my dog to school (training him as a service dog). He was actually soooo well behaved. I was shocked since it was our first time in a public place with that many people (that wasnt the grocery store).
omg guys, I'm dying. I'm wearing a hand me down maternity dress from my sister right now. It's so so comfy so I wear it to work at least once a week. I decided this morning to go on the website and see if they have other colors and it's listed as a NIGHTGOWN. Someone please tell me this actually looks like a dress and I'm not the weirdo wearing pajamas to work right now https://www.kindredbravely.com/collections/nursing-pajamas/products/the-angelina-nursing-gown?variant=40202407438
I don't know if I have mentioned it here but we've had some pretty shit-tastic luck the past 2 weeks. First, our car's transmission went out (that DH drives daily) and it will literally cost what the car is worth to fix it and we still owe on it. Then DH was driving his truck in while we figured things out and the front end went out. We knew the truck needed fixing and luckily were already planning to fix that first before the car so we had something to drive.
@kaf1788 that 100% looks like a dress! @molosmiles your dog is so perfect. What a cutie. @emmaaa sorry about your shitty car luck. Our new-to-us car just needed new front tires because DH ran over glass It's a tight money month due to some other reasons, so it wasn't wonderful.
I have nothing today. I don't want to be at work.

I love watching DS use his imagination. He really likes PJ Masks right now so he runs around pretending to be Catboy. He calls DH and me Gekko and Owlet. He also loves firemen and fire safety. The other day he told me to put the back of my hand to feel if it’s warm and if it’s warm to not open it.
My pitbull was so amazing with my kid. I had that dog 13 years and he never so much as growled at anyone. The only way he was aggressive was with his snuggling. He had to be on you in some way if you sat next to him, whether you liked it or not. My MIL isn’t a dog fan and he’d always try to put his huge head in her lap.
@molosmiles and @ladystout08 I loooove Pitties too -- still trying to convince DH we need one (we have two small dogs, Boston Terriers). My sister had a pitbull for 15 years and she was the very best dog ever
@kaf1788 I think I have a regular person dress that looks like that, so you're totally good.
AW post that I saved until I calmed down, bc its dramatic: so, my ex husband died last week. He had a brain aneurysm. We'd been divorced for 12+ years, were married for less than a year, and didn't have a lot of contact after the divorce. He never remarried. So while it's sad and an emotional thing to deal with, I'm OK. EXCEPT... my sister decides that she needs to shame me because she thinks I should go to his funeral. Again over FB messenger she sends me the details, says she's going, asks me why I don't want to go (I tell her that it's probably because it would be weird or hurtful or emotional for his family to see me there, his now-remarried-and-pregnant-ex-wife, and since this is already a hard time for them...). She tells me I am being selfish about it. So I went off on her about trying to take sides, why she feels the need to have some artificial bond with him (they weren't close?), etc. And told her to drop it. Luckily she did, but man, it was a hard day.

Ugh I’m so sorry. That’s such a difficult situation. I think you are making the right choice not going, and think it’s bizarre that your sister is. I feel like some people love to be able to connect themselves to tragedies if they can manage. I have a friend like that who will post on fb if like, her ex coworker’s 3rd cousin dies.
I have a total rave!!! I bought these leggings from Old Navy and I love them! They're thick and not see through at all. And right now they're on sale for $16.50!
@wkuandrea I'm sorry, what a tough situation. I don't think your reasoning sounds selfish at all - the complete opposite, actually. If you think that not going is what will be most comfortable for both you and his family, you are doing the right thing.
@jgil85 Thanks for the share!!! I need a new pair of maternity tights so I will check these ones out!

@jgil85 tell me more about texture! Are they pretty cottony/legging like? I really need new yoga pants, but anything without spandex is a magnet for my dog's (white) hair and it's unbearable.
@kianarain They are very cottony but they also have some spandex as well. I noticed that they did pick up a little bit of lint from my carpet but nothing too bad.
@wkuandrea Wow, I'm sorry for the news. I think you're making the correct and compassionate choice by not going. Your sister is being really strange and should butt out.

I had an argument with DH last night about mental load that turned into a productive discussion, and I can tell he made such an effort today. He did laundry, picked up around the house, cooked dinner and helped clean up, and played a lot with our DS tonight. It was such a pleasant evening. I hope that he keeps this up, but I do plan to speak up more when I'm doing too much around the house instead of quietly letting it fester until it turns into a fight.

@kns1988 we have a policy in my house where when we start to feel like one of us is doing the majority of the work we just bring it up in a non-argumentative way. For example when I was super nausea I literally didn’t do anything around the house and DH voiced that he understood I wasn’t feeling good but was feeling a little fusturated that he was doing everything but if anything he just wanted me to let him know that I wasn’t feeling well instead of just sitting there quiet while he did everything. It made me realize I wasn’t even saying thank you and acknowledging what all he was doing. That being said the reverse has happened and when he has been beyond busy and I have picked up the slack I would just say hey I know you are busy but do you mind helping me out with cleaning this afternoon or so on. The open policy has really helped and kept us from getting frustrated.
wowza this week has been PACKED!!! Work has been extra stressful this month with a lot of paperwork and DA's this month. Toddler is extra cranky. We're watching my sisters 2 dogs (great dane & lab). Daycare took a week off work so I'm sorry I've been MIA this week!

She tells me I am being selfish about it. So I went off on her about trying to take sides, why she feels the need to have some artificial bond with him (they weren't close?), etc. And told her to drop it. Luckily she did, but man, it was a hard day.

I have a total rave!!! I bought these leggings from Old Navy and I love them! They're thick and not see through at all. And right now they're on sale for $16.50!
@jgil85 Thanks for the share!!! I need a new pair of maternity tights so I will check these ones out!
