I guess this is the best place to post this. I got an email from the bump today advertising Daily-Harvest subscriptions. Basically a healthy minimal prep meal kit, being advertised to busy New moms by the bump. I researched it and it sounds REALLY shady. Beware! https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.daily-harvest.com
Good to know @rabtaido1214, we did HelloFresh for a while, but it can be a lot of prep. I've heard good things about Gobble though too and we might try that out once the prepped meals are all gone.
So far I've made Crockpot Beef Stew, Lentil Soup, Morning Glory Muffins, and Pumpkin Scones for the freezer.
I think I'm going to mix up a couple stir fry bags, smoothie bags, pulled pork, and some chili as well and that will likely fill my whole freezer.
@beccajean71 hello fresh and the likes are how I feed my husband and I. Otherwise I would have no plan and we would eat crap, but I can’t see myself doing all that prep with a newborn, like you said it’s quite a bit, and especially for a person who isn’t very skilled in the kitchen!
For your crockpot meals are you cooking them not and freezing or freezing the raw ingredients and then you’ll put it in the crock pot when you want it to eat?
@rabtaido1214 I cooked and then froze, I've never had an issues with stews/soups.
I'll cook and freeze the pulled pork too because we need to use up all the pellets for our smoker before the cold weather sets in and then we'll use the pork in things like quesadillas, omelets, pizza, etc.
For the stir fry mixes and smoothies, I'll prep the raw ingredients and then put them in the bags, then they should only require 20 to 30 minutes of cook time after and the smoothies can be dumped right in a blender with milk.
We are trying Freshly this week. I like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc., but I honestly just don't want to cook. We have a local company that delivers the premade fresh and healthy meals. Freshly was running a special so we will see how it goes.
@meltonjl haven’t heard of this one, but I’ve tried a bunch. Hello fresh, blue apron, Marley spoon, sun basket and kind of rotate which one I get based on which menu has stuff I want and my picky husband will tolerate. Is it all pre-cooked so there’s no/less prep?
@rabtaido1214 it is! You just pop it in the oven. But it isn’t like a salt bomb frozen meal. Tastes fresh and there are a ton of options. Tonight is my first try at a Freshly meal so I will try to remember to post how it is. The local one has yielded good results so far!
@rabtaido1214 update on Freshly. I thought it was good. I had the chicken parm and DH had chicken teriyaki. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about is that you microwave it rather than heat in the oven like the other service we have tried, but it tasted home cooked. It’s also gluten free and has no refined sugars or artificial ingredients. We have a few more meals to try, but if you are interested in trying let me know and I will PM you a discount code.
I went on a bit of a cookbook buying spree yesterday and bought both the Oh She Glows books, Cravings by Chrissy Teigan, Yum and Yummer by one of true Looney Spoons sisters, and a book called easy freezer meals. Is this part of nesting? I’ll post if I find any great recipes!
My husband is getting a deep freezer in the next week that was a belated birthday gift from his parents so I'm pumped to prep some freezer meals for when baby is born!! Thanks @chopchop25 for the recipes!

Here are two sites with 27 and 21 meals, respectively, that you can choose from to prep and freeze. I like the one author's recommendation to double a batch to make one for dinner one night and put one in the freezer. While I plan to take a few Saturdays this month and make freezer meals, it's nice to be able to make a post-baby meal when you're already making dinner. I'm excited to try some of these!
I have been making larger meals and eating some and freezing some or making the normal size and freezing it. I have 12 meals in the freezer right now and 3 meals of Meatloaf cooking in the oven right now! Plan to make some easy but tasty side dishes today to grab and warm up vs opening a can of veggies or frozen vegetable. I do want more meals as the ones in the freezer are smaller so we won't have any leftovers for lunches with most.
