Re: Weekend Randoms • 9.1 & 9.2

  • @hannelorre we were only there for stroller/car seats and I definitely enjoyed “trying out” the gliders!

  • @snugglyduckling25 If your husband hunts you DEFINITELY need a deep freezer!  My husband only hunts occasionally, but we put up a lot of stuff from the garden and getting a deep freezer totally changed out lives!  And the thing that's so great about them is that even if you fill it up and end up with "more than you need," you can work your way through it without it going bad so not much gets wasted.

  • @hkom I tell him the same thing! I mentioned it again about a month ago and he seemed slightly more open to the idea, so maybe we will get there. Or maybe when I go to store breast milk and can’t find a place to put it it will force the issue.  :D
  • @hkom MH doesn’t hunt but he wants a deer :joy: So our yard guy promised us last year that he would give us a doe if he got one, and then he never did. But he did bring us a big old box of processed deer meat anyway. Dude is the best yard guy ever. In any case, I grew up with a deep freeze and we were finally able to purchase one for our house when we moved in last year. It’s so nice to have that extra storage.

  • @texas_t woohoo for your freezer! We ordered one as well - it should be here Wednesday!

@scaredunprepared yes to ALL the funnel cakes! Everyone around here is all about the fried dough, but funnel cakes are 100 times better, in my book!

  • Ugh, nothing says relaxing holiday weekend like the batteries in your smoke detector running out at the crack of dawn so it starts loudly beeping, waking up your toddler, then your husband leaves to get new batteries and you realize you're a foot too short to turn it off manually, so it just is going off for 20 min solid, probably waking up all of your neighbors and terrifying your toddler. :( Fun start to the day!
  • @maureenmce oh no! Smoke alarms are so annoying. They are important, but so touchy. Ours are wired to the building, so when I’m cooking and the kitchen one goes off it sets off the bedroom one too. We keep bar stools around to hop up to them, but I should probably let that be SO’s job from now on.
  • @kadeephd Enlighten me - how does one have box seats for a state fair?

    BabyFruit Ticker

  • @maureenmce @tumbleweed-1 the fire alarm is one of the most annoying sounds. We actually took down ours in the dining room because it went off wayyyyyyy too much. My parents used to call it the dinner bell haha

@kadeephd @hkom I was wondering the same! The ny state fair is this weekend but it's so hot and muggy I don't really want to deal with the crowds. I would love to see a giant butter sculpture and drink some chocolate milk, though.

@morgantu @hkom You pay a flat fee for the week and get access to a private seating area next to the main horse ring, with an area reserved just for your family and your guests.  It also comes with six unlimited fair passes and two parking passes for a reserved parking area and they give you rides on golf carts from the parking to the horse ring.  Maybe other fairs don't do this?  Or maybe it's not actually called box seats -- that's just what we've always called it.

ETA: I'm not crazy, that is what they are called.  See here.  We always get two parking passes though since we split it with my aunt.  Maybe we pay extra for that.  It's weirdly the New Jersey State Fair, but the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show.

@maureenmce Ugh sorry about the smoke alarm.

  • @maureenmce  that really stinks about your smoke alarm! That definitely sounds like something that would happen to me. Being short really sucks sometimes!
    @morgantu That is adorable!
  • @kadeephd I just got confused over the term "box seats" since I just associate that with sports games where you sit in one spot the whole time for a single event, and not a fair where you move from place to place to see different things.  That makes sense though!  Just like a VIP pass, but then the box seats specifically for the horse show.

  • @maureenmce I feel you on an unfortunate situation.
Gave DD a bath. She proceeds to poop in the tub while full and shampoo still in her hair. I try to scoop it out with washcloths. I pull her out and she pees on the floor and must have stepped in poop along the way and got it all over the bathmat and floor. I had to refill the tub a little to get the shampoo out of her hair and just saw poop particles floating everywhere. Barf barf barf.
She went down for nap #1 and instead of doing all the other cleaning I had planned. I had to deep clean the bathroom, bleach the tub (again, I had just cleaned it yesterday) and her toys and the floor. Now I’m exhausted and I’ve done nothing I wanted lol
  • @jens_hoes nooooooooo
    Pass the sheet cake.

  • @hkom Right that makes sense.  My parents spend most of the time at the seats watching the horse show, with the occasional trip out to get food.

@Jens_Hoes Yikes that's quite the bath.  Hoping the rest of your day goes according to plan.

  • @Jens_Hoes Poop in the bath is the worst! Yuck!
  • Damn, nice work on the 7K @clbness

  • Thanks, @runrinserepeat, but I truthfully walked a majority of it because I wore myself out yesterday. I don’t know why I waited til week 24 to start working out?!

  • @clbness Good for you for going to the gym and completing the race. I’m impressed!
  • @Jens_Hoes oh no, that sounds no fun! You also made me realize that I’ve never had poop in the tub and now I’m scared that this baby could break my perfect record!

@clbness great job on the 7k!!
  • Oh wow @snugglyduckling25! You have 3 kids right? That gives me hope...we’ve also never had poo in the tub! :joy:

  • @PensiveCrayon I know realistically she won't be utilizing her own space for so long anyway. I think we finally moved DS to his crib in his room around a year, so there's no point in shaking up his world/room just yet!

  • @PensiveCrayon yep, 3 kids already and no bath poops! Hopefully we can both keep that way!
  • @clbness congrats on the 7k! You give me hope because I’ve been thinking of doing yoga regularly (my back hurts basically 24/7 these days). I’m hesitant because I’ll be 24 weeks on Tuesday and it seems “too late” to pick that back up. If you can start working out now, maybe I can too. (I did yoga a while ago pre pregnancy and I use supports so I don’t overextend myself)
  • Oh yeah! @clbness Awesome job in the 7k!

@Jens_Hoes your poop story reminded me of a family vacation where I was helping my aunt bathe my little cousin and then all of a sudden there was poop everywhere. My aunt broke down crying but we managed to clean everything up together.  That memory was apparently repressed because I hadn't thought about it again until this moment!

@hkom sorry you aren't able to manage/ delegate the organization duties from afar. But you are right, as long as you have what baby NEEDS you will be just fine.

@PensiveCrayon a friend of mine mentioned kon mari organization method the other day, and I was blown away. Makes so much sense, but seems like so much work. And right now, just no.  Maybe a year ago this would have been my jam! Lol
