@lolo_0924 vinegar and water in a spritz bottle and spray all fabric and let it dry. The vinegar smell will go away! Not 100% on the other smells but I gave use it to deteriorate before.
Thanks for the de-skunking recommendations! After 48 hrs of baths, carpet cleaning, load after load of laundry, and lots of fans - it’s almost back to normal! I definitely went through a lot of vinegar and baking soda and cleaning supplies. Poor pups face still stinks but with some time and a few more baths it will fade!
Never had to do anything with the dog when we brought the baby home (my first). Dog instantly fell in love and was the most gentle and calm thing I had ever seen. She slept beside the bassinet and went everywhere the baby did. Now that baby is 3.5 and dog has realized she's not as breakable lol their relationship makes me laugh because they pick on each other so much. Very excited to bring pup home baby #2 in a few short months.
I took miss Penny out for a walk today with the stroller to see how she would do. I was worried she would be afraid of it and pull. She did great! She only pulled once and it was to go potty. I'm so relieved. A couple more times to reinforce the correct behavior before baby comes and I feel she will be perfect.

@chyvie jealous! my dog runs away from the stroller when I wheel it around the house. no clue how she'll do when I'm pushing it and have her on the leash
I installed the car seat a few days ago so the dog could get used to sharing the backseat. She has a travel bed on her side so she still has enough room to sit or lie down comfortably but she likes to jump in the back and walk to the other side of the car, so I knew that was going to be an adjustment. I thought for sure she wouldn't jump in on her side when she saw the seat but she did, so that was a nice surprise. She definitely took a look at the car seat and made a face at me that was like, "Dafuq is this thing, mom?" haha - but she's been fine with it. Next I'm taking the dog and the stroller for a walk to familiarize her with that.

Loki can very clearly tell something is up. We have the swing up in our living room, which takes up a decent amount of space. He's been much more needy and attached to me and DH in the last two weeks.
TW: Reading these posts makes me sad. We suddenly lost our fur baby to kidney complications in July. It's been a rough summer for us and very sad. I miss him everyday.
When we brought DS home, our dog DID NOT like him. I think the key is normalizing the presence of the baby. What my dog did not like was the crying in the middle of the night, but soon enough he warmed up to him and by the time we had to say goodbye, they were the best of friends. The pup was the first to say good morning to DS and last to say goodnight. WRT the stroller, our dog always kind of walked diagonally when we took walks with him. It's a great idea to get them used to it now. I also recommend playing irritating YouTube crying videos to get the pups used to the sound. Sounds like torture, but alot of them just don't like the crying.
My biggest regret is not having our dog in our newborn pics. So, for those of you who have fur babies and they are a huge part of your life, I highly recommend putting those babies in the newborn photos too!
@meltonjl sorry for your loss I lost my best pup three months before I got married. was there anything you did after baby was there to try and normalize it? Did you do anything with another babies scent before?
@SweetSweetTooth I didn’t do the scent thing, but I know a lot of people who did. I never got a good read on whether it worked. I tried to normalize kids being around by babysitting nephews and pet sitting to show my dog that he was no longer going to get to rule the roost. When the baby is asleep snuggle with your pup. If your partner has time, ask him or her to entertain the pup for x amount a time per day so the pup doesn’t feel neglected. Similar to what we are all talking about over in the toddler and newborn thread hahaha
@meltonjl So Sorry about the loss of your pup, he sounds like a really great one!
Our dogs have never really had kids around, not because we wouldn’t have liked to, we just really didn’t know many people with kids. I think it’s a great idea to still keep them engaged with you and have your time with them when the baby is sleeping or with DH. I plan to include them as much and whenever possible so they learn the baby is a good thing and not something to resent. I know once he gets big enough to play they will love him because they love to run around and play toys, ball, etc.
update: I wheeled my stroller around the house and called my dog over to me while walking and fed her treats. She was more than happy to oblige, and was gleefully following me eating all the treats. Hopefully she associates the stroller with treats and will want to follow me and not run away!

Maybe try giving treats to reinforce positive thinking?
