I just noticed we are still using question thread from 2 weeks ago, so thought I would bump this.
Anyone dealing with losing small pieces of mucous plug? I know it can regenerate until like 36 or so weeks ( @jennybean80 am I close? I thought I remembered them saying 36 weeks). I didn't have this with DS, so even knowing it's supposed to regenerate, still a bit unnerving!
@jomama1618 the mucous plug isn’t really considered a sign of anything. Some women lose theirs multiple times, some lose it all at once right before they go into labour, or weeks ahead of time, and some never lose it. No worries!
@jomama1618 Yeah I've been losing small pieces of mine for a couple weeks now. I don't think it means anything. I still fully expect to make it to 40 weeks.
Thought I would update on my growth scan yesterday! You all were so great answering my concerns.
I was measuring 2 weeks small at my regular appt, so OB sent me for growth scan. Turns out I'm measuring 1.5 weeks ahead! I knew i didn't make small babies
Everything looked good, baby is head down and low, which we knew but nice to have it confirmed.
Baby is weighing in at 5lbs and a bit according to ultrasound tech
I don’t remember seeing a registry thread but I have a registry question...what are some items you missed on your registry and wish you had added? My work is throwing me a shower in a few weeks and my friend who is planning it was disappointed because our registry is pretty cleaned out and we have all of our big items (at least the ones I know we “need”). Any suggestions on things to add that I may have missed?
@spartan4life I added it to my registry but didnt get it so I'll be purchasing
First aid kids, car window shades, baby clothes hangers! Still going through stuff from the shower but those are all I can think of off the top of my head
Thanks ladies! I know it isn't really a sign of much, so not worried about going early or anything. I was about 39+2 when I lost most of mine last time. Just weirds me out because It didn't happen like this with DS. Lol (I know all pregnancies are different. This little girl has made sure of that )
@nasalot188 That's great! So glad everything turned out wonderful!!!
@spartan4life gas drops, infant Tylenol/ibprofen, nail file (easier than clippers for a while), humidifier, baby carrier (ring slings/boba/moby etc), if you intend of pumping sterilizer bags and/or the quick wipes for clean up, breast milk bags, a good baby thermometer, baby mittens (for those sharp little nails), baby hairbrush (even if they have no hair, it's good to help fight cradle cap), sound machine (one that is portable, can take batteries and plus in is great for babies who don't like being in cars as well as sleep.), swaddles, teethers (the gummee type ones that are glove style work well. Different textures are good too) and teething necklaces (either the chewlery type ones babies can wear, but we like the long ones moms wear that baby can chew on while being held or play with while being fed to help keep them focused to eat), tons of wipes and multiple diaper sizes.
@spartan4life I recommend registering for a lot of different brands of bath products/lotions, pacifiers, and bottles because even though we research the hell out of things to get the ones we want, you never know what the baby will actually like or what actually works. Also, I highly recommend the Miracle Blanket, a car seat seat saver (to protect the seats in your car from the car seat indentions and messes), multiple nursing pillow covers/protectors (Boppy, etc.), extra crib sheets.
All of the things @jomama1618 recommended are great ideas.
Also, as @sammierose464 said, BOOKS! I loved getting books and people love buying them.
Are your coworkers against doing a Book shower or diaper/wipe shower for you? If not, it would be a great opportunity to stock up on that stuff.
@SweetSweetTooth DS is 2.5 and we have done well with 3 crib sheets since the time he was born. I personally like the Lansinoh milk storage bags. I didn't pump directly into the bags, but I found they were sturdy/durable and large enough for my needs.
@meltonjl I don’t think they are against that, but our first shower was story book theme so we did get a lot of books! I definitely need to add the other items, especially a couple different types of bottles. I only registered for the Avent ones that I liked, but I think I need to add others.
I registered for 3 sets of plain white sheets and 3 sets of the sheets that match our bedding. I also registered for 6 mattress pads. It seems like overkill, but we need 2 sheets and 2 mattress pads for daycare so I figured I would register for 3 for them just in case. Then we will have 3 sets at home, which sounds like that is a common number to have.
@tropical1982 with all three mine have switched to every 2 weeks at 28 weeks, then weekly around 36 weeks (although I’ll be 34 weeks tomorrow and I’m already going weekly because he wants to do a BPP every week).
My ride home from the hospital will be an hour more or less. Should I plan to sit in the backseat with the baby? There isn’t much I can do if she’s hungry or had a dirty diaper in a moving vehicle, but just for general comforting and to keep and eye on her? What do you STM+ do with newborns in the car?
@rabtaido1214 My house is only 5 minutes away from the hospital and I'm riding in the backseat, if that gives you any indication of how freaked out I am about the trip
@rabtaido1214 when we brought DD home I rode in the backseat (we lived about 40 mins from the hospital). When we brought DS home I rode in the front seat so I could talk to my mom (she brought me home because DH had to go in to work). This time I’ll definitely have to ride in the front because 3-across.
I sat in the back with A since it was a 1.5 hour car ride home. With E, I sat in the back with her from the hospital to my in-laws to get A, but after we put A’s car seat back in, I sat in the front. There was no way I was trying to sit between two car seats.
I sat in the back with baby for just a 15 minute ride home.
Baby leggings are a fun gift to put on a registry. Also just billions of diapers! You'll love not having to buy them for awhile, just tell people to get size 1 not newborns.
@pumpkinpancake I LOVE that you just admitted that DS turned 2 in July and I have sat next to him in the car, for almost every car ride of his life! (In the few instances that I wasn't, it was because Daddy wanted too. Except 1! A few weeks ago, we had to take my grandpa's truck and I couldn't get my big ol pregnant belly around his seat/between him and his cousin's car seats. There was literally just not room. But he had his big cousin, so I didn't feel too bad!) And we have 3 rows of seating, so I will be sitting behind the kids, with them in the center row, so they can see Mommy. This will probably continue until they forward face. (We practice extended rf-ing, so it will be awhile ). It's a comfort thing for us.
I HATE sitting in the back with a carseat. Didn't do it on the way home cause I was miserable and avoid it at all costs now because Z gets upset that we can't hug when he's all strapped in.
Probably opposite of most on here but any tips for keeping baby baking longer? I have a work event the week before my due date/guess date and because I work for myself I don't have backup if my husband and I can't be there working it. Stupid and crazy, yes. If we want to keep our house and pay our bills it is pretty much necessary.
I rode in the front when we brought DS home but only because at the time we had a time VW cabrio (2 dr convertible if you're not familiar) and I was just too sore to squeeze my post partum self back there. Haha or I definitely would have sat back ther with him.
This time it depends if DS is with us to come home from the hospital or not. I definitely wont fit between the car seats.
@sammierose464 I get terrible motion sickness too! I have to drive or, funny enough, be in the back seat, or I'm miserable while in the car.
@spartan4life just thought of a couple of things you could add to your registry that’s “big”—convertible car seat or extra car seat base. We used an infant seat until DS was about 15 or 16 months. Granted, he is on the smaller side. But we had to buy two convertible car seats once he was ready to switch. It will save you money getting them at a shower. Also, an extra camera for your baby monitor if you’re using one. We just had to buy a second monitor for new baby which I wish we had not had to do!
@SweetSweetTooth is it your first baby? If so first time moms on average have baby at 41 weeks. That's not a guarantee of course, but pretty good odds.

breast milk storage bags, best brand/easiest to use?

ETA DS came at 40+5
