Re: Sep 2018 FET

  • @Momifbysea I’m continuing acupuncture 1x weekly and will try to get a couple more massages in before 9/17.

I’ve also been trying to exercise 4-5x week bc my doc has a no exercise that would bounce a ponytail rule after FET until 12weeks! I’ve put on about 10 lbs since January so have been trying to get some of that off since July between meal planning and exercise.

I start estrogen the same week my semester starts so I’m a little worried about the stress of work being back bad eating/exercise habits. :/

  • @northbeach3 good for you for exercising! That's one thing that's my downfall...I've been eating more healthfully but the exercise is not really existent for me. Like at all. I need to figure out how to fit that in but so far haven't.

So I take it you're a teacher? That would be a hard shift to have your schedule and stress levels change as treatment comes up.
  • Loading the player...
  • @northbeach3 thanks for the spreadsheet and I have same feeling too transfer 2 one high grade and other low grade one as I have high hopes on low grade one.
But for now plan is to go with 1 and if it doesn't work go for 2 in the next round.

@J1006 my AF started today and have baseline on Wednesday, will start with estrogen pills on Friday if everything looks good.

@Momifbysea I am also trying to work out 4-5 days a week to loose some before transfer and planning to start meditation closer to transfer date.
  • @bkatp good for you on the working out and meditation! I'm hoping to have a different outcome this time, obviously. I find it interesting that so many clinics do a baseline after AF starts. I just start Estrace on day 3 with no baseline appt before, and then have a lining check before starting PIO. Makes me feel like my clinic is maybe not checking me enough but they get good results so I guess everyone just does it differently.
  • @Momifbysea my baseline is just bloodwork to check my estrogen levels and an ultrasound to check my ovaries for cysts.  My doctor says she cancels easy so I think I have a lot of appointments so I’m not on meds if I don’t have to be.
  • @J1006 ok got it! Then I won’t feel so left out. ;)
  • @Momifbysea @J1006 Nice to know I'm not the only one here in the last embryo club ;)

@Momifbysea My clinic recently stopped doing baseline ultrasounds at the start of their cycles because they found no differences in success rates and very, very rarely cancelled a cycle due to findings on a baseline ultrasound. Hope that eases your mind a bit. I have a similar, simple protocol - start Estrace on day 1, check lining, initiate progesterone and transfer six days later. :)
I have a history of three miscarriages so also adding in aspirin, prednisone and daily lovenox - what my doctor calls the "kitchen sink" protocol.

As to what I'm doing to relax this cycle - I have weekly acupuncture appointments scheduled starting now until after transfer. I've heard about the Circle and Bloom fertility app. Let me know if anyone here likes it?

I will add my info to the spreadsheet.
  • Tomorrow’s my last day of birth control! Placed my refill for meds. I’m ready to get this show on the road!!

My RE does do baselines, so my check is next Tuesday. Fx no cysts!!

  • AF started today so I’m calling my clinic tomorrow!!! Also ready to get this show on the road. One more roll of the die, second times the charm right? I’m also planning to ask about the results of last weeks endo biopsy since I didn’t get a call. Maybe if it’s normal they don’t call? I’m debating asking for a Friday transfer which would mean three extra days on estrace but since we travel four hours would mean we don’t have to drive home straight from transfer because we could chill for another day as it’s the weekend. I don’t think the taking estrace longer was really what messed up my last FET but I did an extra couple weeks of estrace due to travel.

@Momifbysea Yay! I also did an endometrial biopsy a few weeks ago. A Friday transfer just sounds perfect so you can relax afterwards! I don't think a few "extra" days on Estrace should hurt anything.
  • @allycoghlin thanks! Yeah, I'm glad I did it as I heard more that just the scratch can stimulate new tissue in the endometrium which can help with implantation.

I called the clinic to get my treatment calendar and asked about my endo biopsy results - everything negative so that's good, one more thing checked off. I also, because I'm trying to cover ALL my bases here, asked about whether the biopsy would have shown if I had that type of vaginal bacterial thing that they make us take antibiotics for every 6 months, not that I ever had it, but just proactively. The good news is that if I had it it would have shown up on this so I'm good on that front. So let's see, what haven't I checked off that could help this one be successful?
  • AFM, my baseline results came out ok and I am starting estrogen pills tomorrow.  Next appointment is 6th September
  • @bkatp hey there! I start estrogen pills tomorrow too! And my birthday is September 6th so maybe that's a lucky sign lol! I can't wait to get my calendar so I know when I'm making my drives up to the clinic and can arrange for staying with friends.
  • @Momifbysea @bkatpMy transfer is the 6th!  It has to be a lucky day!
  • @Momifbysea @J1006 yay !! We are making progress. hope entire September is lucky month for all of us.

@allycoghlin I also have history of 3 miscarriages (natural BFPs ) I started on asprin. What are the Prednisone and levonox for ? I am on medrol a steroid to suppress immune system before the transfer.

What is enometrial biopsy for ? Can we get that done after starting estrogen pills as well?
  • Hi ladies! I see many familiar faces in here. In a surprising turn of events it looks like I’ll be doing a FET, probably on 9/1.

    *TW* Loss mentioned
We went for a follow-up today with my RE to discuss our latest slew of test results after my 3rd loss in June, and walked out with him proposing another FET. As he does natural cycles for women who ovulate on their own, and as I’m currently on CD9, a FET next weekend it is. We’ll be transferring 1 of our 2 remaining PGS-normal embryos. I’ll be doing an HCG booster 1 day after O and then progesterone suppositories thereafter.

I just started acupuncture this summer, and we were not planning to do a FET this cycle, so my acupuncturist (who is now on vacation) and I had not discussed what the acupuncture process would be during a FET cycle. So I’ve made an emergency appointment for tomorrow with one of her colleagues to get a handle on things.
  • I have been lurking on this board and the Aug FET board as i wasnt  sure where i would end up.
i have done 7 FET in the past and have been seeing a RE since 2015. This month my RE has changed the protocol and am doing a natural medicated cycle? Using Femera and PIO. He is hoping that my body doesnt like estradial and that has been the problem.

I am not sure when my FET will be as for right now i just quit taking the femara and i go back Monday for more BW and US.

FX that September is the lucky month for everyone

  • @bababatty welcome! I just left an acupuncture office for the first time and made an initial appointment for Tuesday. I'm hoping that's enough time to do some good since my transfer will most likely be mid-September. Did you do acupuncture with any other FETs? I'm also curious (and should probably know this by now) but when you say a natural cycle what does that mean? Is that like mini-IVF or just that you don't suppress with BCP before the FET?

@justharrison hello and good to see you here! Yes, I hope that September is our lucky month too! Question, for your past FETs did you do PGS testing?
  • @bkatp meant to respond to your last post earlier - the endometrial scratch (I was told by my clinic) has to be done the cycle prior to the FET cycle during the time you are taking BCP (or first 3 weeks of prior cycle for those not taking BCP). There are about 7 peer reviewed studies that showed an increase in implantation following an endometrial scratch the cycle prior to the FET versus placebo. Pretty interesting so of course after my last failed transfer I decided to try it.

Thanks @kristimh80! I missed seeing you!

@Momifbysea Hello! No, I just started acupuncture in June, after my last loss. Part of my increasingly desperate “let’s throw everything we can at the situation and see what sticks!” plan, haha. My acupuncturist asks repeatedly at every visit what our ART plans are, so I assume whatever she’s doing is usually directed toward that? Except we haven’t done any ART procedures since I’ve been seeing here, so I have no idea what if any impact that has on her treatments. (ETA: hence my panic, since at my last couple sessions I’d told her we weren’t doing a FET or ER for at least another month). I have noticed my cramps lessening during AF, which is a nice outcome!

Natural cycle means they let me ovulate on my own (no BDing allowed!) instead of suppressing with hormones. Basically I go in for bloodwork everyday starting CD10 (today!) until they see a surge.

    @justharrison Welcome and good luck!!
  • Hello all. I’d like to join all of you sept transfers too. Today is CD1 with baseline appt on Sunday, expecting transfer to be on 9/10, if all goes well. Fx!

@northbeach3 - great to see a familiar face. How have you been doing? Btw, thanks for the spreadsheet.
  • Welcome @mrsyng! Good luck at your baseline and wow 9/10 will be here so quickly! I think there will be a group of us all right around the same time which will be nice for support.

@bababatty gotcha - sounds like you've really seen an effect with cramps lessening. Sign me up! Thanks for explaining the natural cycle. I mean, I want to think that this FET will be it and I can happily graduate BUT I'm also a realist and need to have a plan B and plan C for my own mental health, you know? But sometimes I need to remind myself of the months and months I so so wanted to have the privilege of joining a FET board and it seemed so in the distance...so to be here with you all means I've gotten over a huge hurdle and for that I am very grateful, to even have this chance.
  • ***Lurking @Bababatty good luck this cycle!! rooting like hell you finally get your sticky bean.

  • Hi everyone! Joining the board today for a 9/10 FET. I'm already on week 3 of escalating estrogen patches - started 10 days after LH surge last month and on CD 9 today. No Lupron or OCPs. My baseline u/s on CD2 showed a 3.5 cm right ovarian simple cyst which shocked me, as I've never had a cyst in the 2 years I've been getting ultrasounds. Bloodwork showed it wasn't producing estrogen so they said I'm fine to go ahead - fx it doesn't mess things up! Next step is lining check 9/4. (We were prepping for a FET in June that was cancelled at the lining check because of poor architecture.)

Question for you all - do your protocols include a steroid like medrol and doxycycline? What about baby aspirin? Valium for transfer? My clinic has done away with all of those since 2016 but said if I *insist* then I can do them.

@northbeach3 so sorry for your loss, good to see your name again!
    @kristimh80 congratulations!!
  • @chamomile-2 welcome! I do baby aspirin and valium for transfer but not the others - except I do take one dexamethasone the day before transfer. I'm curious, did your clinic explain why they discontinued these?

@Momifbysea thanks for the warm welcome. It is so close yet so far.

@chamomile-2 my FET is like a mini ivf stim. I’m on letrazole, gonal, Ovidrel, medrol, zpak, & baby asa. Btw we may share the same FET date! Good luck!
  • welcome to the sept party @chamomile-2 @Bababatty @mrsyng! Hate that we're all still here, but happy to be sharing this journey with you all this month! hope we can all catch a break! <3<3<3

re: protocols -- my clinic does valium 30 m before transfer.  my doc said it was okay to self-prescribe baby aspirin... but i did get the testing for blood clotting factors and they came back negative.  i'm still taking the aspirin tho ;)

re: acupuncture -- have no idea if it's helping or not, but my acupuncturist swears she's seeing improvement on my tongue and she gave me really a really gross tincture of herbs that's supposed to be helping with blood flow.  it's expensive as F tho and my insurance doesn't cover it. if i have to cycle again, don't know if i would continue.

afm, expecting aunt flow probably sunday and baseline tuesday :) happy weekend everybody!

    let's get the par-tay started!

  • Welcome @chamomile-2 @mrsyng @Bababatty!

@chamomile-2 I am on a steroid and an antibiotic before my transfer. They also give me Valium day of transfer. Same question as @Momifbysea why did they choose to discontinue it in their practice?

AFM, my estrogen went up to 456 which is higher than last time (hoping that’s a good thing). My lining was already at 10.7!
  • @J1006 what day is this for you? That’s an awesome lining!!!
  • @Momifbysea
Only the last two embryos that were transfered where tested. For our first egg retreival we didnt do testing as they didnt recommend it due to our age at the time and the reason for going to a specialist (mfi and i have pcos) we had 11 embryos that retrevial (5 left)
the second egg retreival we did testing and we had 4 embryos (2 left)
After 5 FET we had an ERA done and found out that i needed an extra 24 hrs of progesterone so the first 5 FET were basically just throwing away the embryos.
**TW** our only fresh cycle resulted in a miscarriage at 10 weeks. Every other transfer has resulted in a chemical pregnancy.
Im really hoping that since this cycle my body is making all its own hormones, that this will be the one that sticks
  • @Momifbysea I’m only on what my clinic considers Stim day 7. My FET is in a little less than two weeks.
  • *lurking* Hi all!  I was just checking out your board.  I'm on the August FET board and had my transfer a few days ago.  It's a bit quiet on our board as a lot of the ladies had their transfers earlier in the month and many are already done with their TWW.

@chamomile-2 My protocol included medal, doxycycline, and baby aspirin.  I just had my second FET and did use the valium this time (I passed for my first FET).

  • Good luck @mandapanda1421!

Well ladies, I’m out before I even started. My estrogen isn’t rising, which my RE says is indicative of a bad cycle, so he advised to cancel and try again next cycle. I guess that’s a risk of a natural cycle! Alas. I wish all of you lots and lots of luck!!
  • Aww crap that sucks majorly @bababatty!! I hate the anticipation and excitement of starting a new cycle full of hope and optimism only to have it be cancelled!! Do you typically have normal cycles or will you be put on BCP?

  • @northbeach3 Just the other day I was thinking how lucky it was that I hadn’t had any wonky cycle-related delays in the 3 years we’ve been trying. “Challenge accepted,” says my body.  :D My first clinic did programmed cycles but my current RE does not typically for women who O on their own (which I do) I think largely to save patients the annoyance of taking hormones. My last FET was natural and he wanted to do that again this time. I’m going to email him today and ask for a programmed cycle in October, though. My body has failed me for the last time, lol.

@roisis Oh I hope to see you in October FET! FX!
