Dd and I worked on her special bug sister book today, it’s a little outdated, but I love that it has check marks so she doesn’t have to know how to write! I def think she is gonna love using it for the next year or so, and bonus all baby’s milestones will get recorded! Haha

I said I would stop working at 36 weeks but now at 38 weeks I'm still going in hoping that I will go into labor while I'm there..plus I get so bored sitting around my house. I have everything packed, nursery is done..I just clean and do laundry as much as I can to keep busy. When people told me that the last 2 weeks of pregnancy drag, they were not lying. I feel like one day is months.... I'm just ready to meet my girl
lpq0309 I have been off work since July 1 because I physically can't do my job. I can't imagine still working at 38 weeks. It does get boring at times because our WiFi can't support Netflix! And it feels like this board is dying down, so not much to keep me going on here either. Good thing DD is here to keep be busy.
@lpq0309@mrsman2018 I am always in awe of moms who work late into pregnancy! I can't stay awake enough to not get fired from any job I can think of I feel like I was way more anxious and impatient by this point last time, maybe more uncomfortable too. I think a lot of it is how focused I am on DD whereas I had nothing else to think about when I was expecting her. Any STMs rereading any baby books? I feel like I can't quite remember all the schedules and strategies from a couple years ago and can't decide whether to brush up now, or just Google as I go. Haha
Car0liiine I had 2 books last time and looked at them to brush up but didn't come out with anything new. I have been Googling and my other BMB from last pregnancy really helps. Those ladies know everything.
@Car0liiine I really want to reread the sleep training book we had with DS since it had some tips and tricks for the newborn stage too, but so far I haven’t gotten much past the thinking about it stage. Maybe this weekend I’ll try to move to the looking for it stage

Not at all. Although I really didn't read anything with DS1 either. I have the Wonder Weeks app which was helpful but that was it. I just figured things out as I went and asked Google or my mom group as needed.
I'll figure it out as I go with this one too.

@mrsman2018@Car0liiine I've been doing half days for almost a month now...but today I just looked at my manager and said I'm leaving. I work outside at a plant nursery/landscaper so I'm always on my feet, walking, lifting and bending, dealing with different sized plants. Luckily my manager is really understanding and is shocked everyday I come in like you're still here!?!? Lol
What are your opinions on diapers and wipes? I know each baby is different and so far we have been gifted a variety of brands of diapers. But we didn't get but maybe 5 regular packs of wipes from our shower. So I wanted to get a head start on stockpiling. Figured the safest route was to get sensitive wipes just in case LO is sensitive to regular ones.
@cab1209 I’m not too particular about wipes. I get the sensitive ones and try to get eco friendly ones, but I’ll mostly just go with whatever fits those criteria and is on sale. Diapers are much more important, but that depends a lot more on baby
I like sensitive or the water wipes because I do hate the artificial "baby" scents on everything. Honest company aren't cheap, but they have a decent weave for removing stubborn poop, with little scent. Less luck with any generic or Pampers or LUVs brands-very stinky and didn't want to get the sticky messes off.

@cab1209 - We've used Huggies Natural Care from the beginning and I've been happy with them. People gifted us some Pampers Sensitive wipes too, but I didn't care for them as much. We always have Water Wipes on hand too for when he's gotten bad diaper rash.

@cab1209 I second the Huggies Natural Care, bought them by the case last time and plan to use again if this baby doesn’t have any issue with. My son had/has very sensitive skin and these didn’t bother him at all
WaterWipes are the only brand that didn’t aggrevate or cause diaper rash for DD.
Im planning to work up until 38w this time; with my last I worked just about up to 39w. I have an office job, and want as much time at home with baby after the birth as I can. I’d go to 39w this time, but by going out a week early I actuallly end up getting MORE time after baby is born because of how the holidays fall.
@BusinessWife how many cloth wipes do you have? I’m trying to decide if we have enough..... and will you be using just water or a cloth wipes solution? I know we have a cloth diapering thread, suddenly I have so many questions!
@arbell615. I have 50 wipes, so that should be plenty, but they are very easy and inexpensive to make from a sheet of flannel. I haven't done this before, so I plan to try a couple things to see what we like. I have a solution i got from nickis to mix into a spray bottle and try, but I might also try the YouTube tutorials I've seen where you use coconut oil and water in the warmer.
We exclusively cloth wipe. I recommend 3 per diaper in your rotation. We have a couple of nice 2 layer flannel, but I don't love them. Too bulky generally. For pee and preliminary poop clean up we prefer cut up t shirts (free and no sew needed!). For getting truly clean after poop, I have some single layer flannel from Gerber and some super cheap baby washcloths that work great.
I store them dry (wet storage means you end up with just a couple wet at once or you tend to get a musty smell or need a bunch of scented things in your solution to hide the smell), and have a spray bottle that's 9 or 10 parts water to 1 part witch hazel-keeps the water from getting old and is good for skin and cleaning. Conversely, a lot of time I just grab a couple (we keep spares in our bathroom for hand wiping, etc) and wet with the sink when I know there's poop.
The NICU had us using water only plus disposable cotton gauze stuff, so I just modified that a little.

I think I have 36 cloth wipes in rotation? I would wet about a day's worth at a time. My favorite recipe is 1 glass of warm water, 1 TBS coconut oil, and 1 drop of baby soap (pour over wipes in a closeable container). I think I will add witch hazel, thanks @pourmeamocktail!
@cab1209 We use Target’s Up&Up Sensitive wipes (purple box). They’re inexpensive, sensitive, strong enough for stubborn poop, and they don’t tear.
I’m not terribly picky about what I keep in the diaper bag, but we definitely go with Up&Up at home. Huggins ALWAYS tore for us. Literally, every single one I pulled out. Pampers were ok but not worth the money. Walmart’s feel like sandpaper to me. Aldi’s aren’t bad.
When I did water alone, spray bottle got moldy in like 3 weeks. I could have had two and wash one and let dry completely for a few days to prevent it, but...so lazy.
Now I wash them out (3 changing locations) maybe every 6 months? No mildew.

I think when this was discussed on another thread i accidentally said that we hated Huggies . . . Then I realized that the Huggies Natural Care is what we have a subscription for on Prime. Woops. Maybe it was Luvs that tore up so bad? But I will say, I see no real reason to stockpile at this point. 5 packs sounds like a stockpile to me.
@Car0liiine - The only reason I "stockpiled" is because I earned the $100 baby bucks thing on my Amazon registry so I got a free $100 towards select diapers and wipes. Huggies Natural Care were on the list so I bought 4 boxes of the 3-pack refills. Based on how many wipes we've gone through with DS1, they definitely won't go to waste with 2 kids in diapers!!

We normally use Pampers Sensitive but you won’t really know what your LO needs until after they’re born. When I got the $100 diaper credit from Amazon with DD I stockpiled water wipes which have also worked really well for us.
Postpartum relief supplies arrived yesterday. I had a random question about the Tucks pads. Do you keep them in the freezer, fridge or room temperature?

I always kept mine at room temperature on the back of the toilet.

I also kept them at room temp. Under the sink in the bathroom with my pads and peri bottle.

What is this $100 credit you speak of?? I have prime and a registry . . . Do you have to spend a certain amount, or buy certain things?
Exactly what @Patience7150 said. Once $1,000 worth of qualifying stuff had been purchased from my registry it gave me access to a code for $100 towards certain types of diapers and wipes.

Worth noting that there are other items available too, and they can change from time to time. When I started mine, there was an exclusive rock n play on the list, but now notit's not. There are convertible carseats, travel system, high chairs etc. So $100 off another particular piece of gear could go a long way. I'm thinking of using mine to get a pack and play for MILs house...

Boo! I just dropped $600 on my registry today (and I plan to get a new pump from Amazon once we get settled too - I’m sure I’ll be at $1,000!) but it says that promotion isn’t available anymore! Bummer, dude!
