  • @bdesterhouse what a jerk! is it like a marked parking spot, or just the place you normally park?

  • I was in a short marketing-type meeting with 2 coworkers yesterday and as they talked about putting together a 2019 promotions calendar the one nonchalantly says "well I might be pregnant next year so I'll miss the end of the year" and when the other called her out on it she said "Well I might be. We've talked about trying for #2 but haven't really made the final decision yet." WOW. Meanwhile I'm biting my tongue and trying to act natural cause I really will be gone April/May next year!
  • @HoneyBear40 wow! That is an optimistic woman. Sounds like a good way to get passed over for the important projects because she "might" be pregnant and gone. I definitely get a surge of adrenaline anytime kids, pregnancy, etc are mentioned at work. Mostly because I don't want anyone to know before I can tell my boss, which I might be doing on Friday because I'm tired of waiting to make more definite plans.

  • @meggyme it’s just my normal spot. It’s not marked, but the dude parks in front of me every day. I have vanity plates and a bright red Ram 1500. So he knows my truck. I know his car bc of his kc logo on the back window.

There is a gal who parks next to me because she used to take  my spot and then saw how difficult it is for me to park elsewhere due to how our parking lot is setup for employees vs customer parking, so she parks next to my spot and leaves my spot open. There is a whole row of us that typically all park in the same spots everyday.

I just need to get to work before 8:00 and I shouldn’t have issues with losing my spot. I  don’t think it would bother me as much if he hadn’t been smirking when I drove by.

  • @bdesterhouse that still sucks, especially if your truck is hard to park and his car isn't.

  • It's my own fault for driving a big vehicle. We have a spare car that I can drive that is easier to park, but I hate driving it. It's my husband's old car and I feel like I'm driving a go kart.

  • @bdesterhouse wow. It's one thing to take a spot for your own convenience because it's first come, first serve. It's a whole other thing to also get satisfaction by watching someone else be inconvenienced by your taking the spot. I hope you get that spot next time!
  • Thanks, I am glad you ladies aren't tell me I'm being ridiculous for these feelings. Cause I already feel ridiculous for letting a parking spot get under my skin. You ladies are awesome. :)

  • @bdesterhouse I started leaving the house early to avoid this one bus that would stop in the middle of traffic to pick people up. There was a bus lane, but people park so that it can't get in, and of course there's a coned off bike lane on the other side so I couldn't get around it. It added maybe 3 minutes to my drive, but it was so annoying that I decided to start leaving early. Isn't funny how something so miniscule can throw off your whole morning though?
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • @meggyme Oh, I totally get it! One morning I was actually running ahead of schedule and thought I'd leave for work early and get there early (for once)... well of course leaving early stuck me smack dab in the middle of school bus pick up time in our neighborhood! (DD is still in daycare so I don't know the bus schedule). Ugh, I must've waited behind 2 separate buses that morning for about 10 mins! Lights flashing so you can't pull around, obviously. Of course they're young primary aged children being picked up so their parents need to give them hugs goodbye, double-check their backpacks for books and lunch, etc. (Totally understandable, I'll be doing the same in a few years, but it was a slow process!) After that I never leave early for work anymore.... I'd rather show up late than have to deal with that.

@bdesterhouse I understand your annoyance with the parking situation, I'd be annoyed too! Why couldn't the jerk just leave things as they were and stick to his own spot? I have to say, your post gave me a mental workout. Since it's August, I was so flabbergasted to see snow in the pic you posted. My brain just could not compute it. After a second I deduced that you must be from Australia and its winter there (does it snow in Australia?! No clue). Then as I usually do when I know someone is from a country with a different accent than mine, I proceeded to reread your post in my head with an (awful) Australian accent (does anybody else do that or is it just me?) Finally, once I paid enough attn I realized it was a gif and not a picture, and that it clearly wasn't a shot of your actual parking lot. I am such a dolt!
  • Yes! I'm a creature of habit, I hate to admit it because I used to be so free spirited go with the flow type. As I've gotten older, I've definitely changed in the fact that I like to have order and routine. I think having a kid kind of made me that way because he is that way too.

  • @laur84ns ha, you turned my day around, thank you! No, I'm from the middle of the states in Nebraska and we don't have snow yet. It's not unheard of to get snow this early but it isn't typical though. The last few years have been unusual with having snow free Halloweens. I'm hoping we get another one this year. :)

  • @meggyme Super optimistic! This is also the coworker that already is only in office 3 days a week and "works from home" on Mondays  :#
And I'm totally with you on the adrenaline rushes! These last 3 weeks until we're "in the clear" are going to take forever...
  • Anybody have a pair of Rothy's ballet flats? I just bought a pair and I'm wondering if they're going to be as good as pinterest said they would be.

  • @flyingmombula I don't have a pair but I've been wanting them, would love to hear what you think!
  • We just got back yesterday from visiting my folks in the States (we live in Spain) and I have to go to work today. I'm so sad and tired because while I don't have jetlag my DS does and didn't let me sleep :'( And on top of that I have my gestational diabetes test this morning and that sugar solution makes me super nauseous.
  • @bdesterhouse on my drive into work today I saw a red Ram 1500 and thought of you and sent some good vibes. Haha!

  • @bdesterhouse lol, that gif is perfect.

@bdesterhouse yay for getting your spot!

@Morningstar80 a) I’m jealous that you live in Spain! I wanna visit so bad! b) boo for a jetlaggy kiddo. Mine drove me crazy and we just came from one side of the states to the other lol c) good luck on your test! I have to do my early one in a couple weeks and I’m not looking forward to it either.

Im in a terrible mood and I’m so tired. But I ordered some Kelly green yarn and new knitting needles and I’m starting a blanket for LO. I figure the green would be perfect for March and good for a girl or a boy. Now I’m just waiting for it to be delivered!

  • @bdesterhouse literally lol at your gifs!
@laur84ns you’re not alone, I thought the snow was real and assumed Australia too.  ;)

Re: blizzards. Since I don’t have a DQ near me I tried a turtle “concrete” at this place called Freddy’s something. Meh. I think I’ll stick to my Oreo/m&m combo McFlurry, yummo

@mschanandlerbong1214 that sounds so pretty! Makes me want to finish the blanket I started 3 years ago.

@flyingmombulaadd me to the list of people wanting a review of the rothys! They are all over my Facebook/Pinterest just like Tieks were. I don’t think I’ve ever bought shoes that expensive, far more the quantity over quality type when it comes to shoes lol. @Pooka8 did I see on a different thread you have some too?

@mamakate1616 Ok, phew, so I'm not totally nuts (yet). Glad I'm not the only one who thought that!

My random for today is that I am SO SICK of my prenatals making me feel sick. Ugh. Wtf. I started with Materna brand, they were fine but I stupidly let my naturopath talk me into taking some more expensive "better" ones. Despite the high price tag they were routinely making me feel sick each time I took them (2x per day) so I finally gave up yesterday and bought Materna again. Well I just took my tried, tested and true Materna and now I feel incredibly sick and have a stomachache. So annoying. Does anyone have any recommendations for something more gentle on the stomach?! I do take them with food or soon after eating so I'm not taking them on an empty stomach.
  • I take my prenatal right before bed. When I go in there, I’ll send what kind mine is. My doctor prescribed it.

  • @bdesterhouse Glad you got your spot! I get the results from my test back next week so fingers crossed!

@mschanandlerbong1214 I´ve been in Spain for 8 years but was super sad to leave the States this time around. My H and I started talking about the possibility of moving in the next couple of years so we´ll see. Spain is great though and an amazing place to visit/live. Oh and my kid is still jetlagged. He slept until 130pm yesterday. We´ll see what time he wakes up today...
  • @mamakate1616 I'm sorry you don't have a DQ near you, that's tragic! We have a Freddy's in town too and meh...it's a weird consistency of custard or ice cream (whatever the hell it is) and I could take it or leave it.
  • Guys. If you want a really good concrete, come to St. Louis. Ted Drewes was named the best ice cream shop in the world in 2017 (by some random Irish world ice-cream index, but whatever, it's true) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Drewes
