@lisac113 I was sick for almost 6 months. Finally, in early July, me and my dr came to the conclusion it was due to bad reflux. I haven't been sick since I started the medicine. It's a generic for Protonix.
@nackie yes! You are right!!! @smsaulino that is interesting. The Zantac has been helping somewhat, so I wonder if it is reflux. It would kinda make sense that the morning is the worse due to laying down. It is a different kind of nausea than 1st trimester nausea, I could only tolerate soup crackers and a few other things then. I have an appetite now. Hmm, I wonder if I can take tums in conjunction with Zantac?
Thanks so much for your insight!!! I really wonder if reflux is what it is. I might mess around with the times I take Zantac and see if that helps. I also might email me doctor.
@lisac113 - I was told it was ok to take both Tums and Zantac during my first pregnancy when I started getting bad heartburn at night. Tums can inhibit iron absorption so try to take your prenatal/iron at a different time than the Tums.
Heartburn makes me feel really nauseous sometimes so it could definitely be reflux.

My OB’s standard practice is cervical checks at 39w. Last time she ended up doing one at 38w and I asked the risk (she gave me the option) and she said they could start contractions, but knew I wanted to go into labor then (and she was on call that night). Well sure enough I was 2cm and contractions started but I didn’t deliver for 3 more days.
I have an appt. today (at 36+6) and I know she is on call next week after my appt. at exactly 38w. Since DD was 11 days early and huge, I’ll ask her tomorrow if we should aim for 38w to be the day and try all of the old wives tales (sex, lots of walking, dry pumping, then a membrane sweep and cervical check at my appt.). I am strangely not ready but very ready. I know she’d induce me before my due date so if we can try other things before pitocin (ugh) we’ll go for it!
I'm eating my words. 36w appointment today, GBS swab and I tried to say no to the cervix check, but she said they like having a baseline if I end up in L&D for whether or not I'm progressing at all, so I caved. Interestingly (to me), 2cm dilated and medium softness. I was fully closed up until a membrane sweep at 38w with DD, so I feel oddly excited we're not totally closed. I know this means little for imminence of labor, but it still got me excited. Like @yosemite2018 I am half-heartedly doing all the old wives tales to get baby out in hopes to go naturally before our 40w necessary departure date.
She did say we can avoid any further internal checks though until we start talking induction, so I guess I got half of what I wanted??
36 week (and 2 days) check up went well yesterday. Not dialated. But he is fully dropped. Dr could feel his head pushing when she checked my cervix. Definitely going to have a C-section (at 39weeks) though because of size and recommendation from my neurologist. He's coming soon! Ultrasound next week!
@fftm9318 Glad your appointment went well. Not sure why you're seeing a neurologist (and not prying either, it's your business), but suspected large baby alone isn't a reason by itself for ACOG to suggest an automatic section, much less one before your due date. I'm not saying you don't have a reason for a section, but big baby alone isn't one. Size estimations are frequently significantly off, women can birth large babies (assuming mom and baby are healthy, etc), and due dates aren't an exact science, could be off, and 39 weeks might be closer to 37 weeks.
I carry my babies huge, it's just part of my shape-short torso, and my babies like to hang out right at the surface instead of tucked into my body. It just is. I measure super far ahead, and deliver nice normal size for age babies (so far).
I'm not trying to shame you, or make you feel like you're making any wrong decisions, but know that some doctors have a propensity for encouraging surgical delivery that isn't truly necessary, and that carrier some risk (all births do, but surgical births for healthy moms carry extra risks for mom especially). I just want you to know there are other options out there.

To add on to what @pourmeamocktail said, whether or not you can give birth to a baby depends on how far your pelvis is able to open and whether that’s enough room for baby to fit. There’s no real way to tell that without attempting to give birth vaginally. But statistically speaking, it’s pretty uncommon for a woman to grow a baby she’s not capable of delivering. It does happen, but not often. I have friends/family members that have birthed 10+lbs babies vaginally.
Update- No follow up ultrasound. BP returned back to normal. I actually lost 2 pounds. And basically nothing got mentioned about baby's size  I go back in 2 weeks.
@fftm9318 Everything @pourmeamocktail and @nackie said. Not sure why your doc is suggesting a section, but don’t feel pressured. Unless you’ve had an x-ray that shows a mishapen pelvis, you have no reason to believe you can’t birth your baby vaginally.
@Patience7150 I caved yesterday and got the cervical check also for baseline. And we are twinsies...soft and 2cm. Though I was walking around like that for weeks before my induction last time. I don’t want any more checks until labor or induction is discussed though, same as you. It wasn’t nearly as painful as I remembered from before. Maybe her hand was smaller?
FWIW, cervical checks have never been painful for me. I think it's something that really varies from person to person, and the provider probably is an important factor, too.

@Wishilivedinflorida it wasn't as painful for me this time either, and it was the same ob. Maybe everything is just a little looser second time around!? Lol. I do kind of regret letting her do it now...I've been really crampy and having mp like discharge all day. Hopefully it's nothing for now!
I’ve never found the checks painful with any of my pregnancies. Membrane sweeps? That’s a whole different ballgame. Those are definitely uncomfortable.
@Patience7150 Ugh same for me! Definitely had a piece of MP come out today. Lovely things that all in all don’t mean much for labor, unfortunately. But, it’s still too soon for LO anyway, soooooo...
Cervical checks always had me writhing in pain last time. Maybe it was because stuff was tighter down there? Or maybe just the technique of the provider?
Maybe this is TMI but I use a menstrual cup when not pregnant. And have tracking my cycle for family planning. I have a naturally very high cervix, and even after my son was born, it's still pretty high, like I can't easily reach it whereas a lot of women can. That being said, I'm assuming that's my I find checks so terribly uncomfortable, because if the fingers aren't easily long enough to reach, (and you're not in labor and/or delivering at the moment) then the whole hand is trying to fit inside vagina in order to reach cervix-not so comfy.
However, just anecdotally, a lot of the women in my menstrual cup group have a naturally low cervix, or at least a pretty low cervix after first or second baby, which seems like it would lead to much less painful checks.
Just my thoughts.

@dexnie in a perfect to world, no.bur if you have asilly high cervix, maybe. In my case, like 1/4 - 1/3 of the hand (with fingers extended too) has to at least make it partially...in. For other people, only long fingers is enough to accomplish goal.
Thinking about this, there may be real reasons that I'm particularly against checks...

Had potentially last midwife appointment today, we're all happy I made it to 36 weeks, and got the shot, she's feeling like we'll meet baby by end of next week, and honestly I am too. I would like to make it to the 17 or 18 though. Either way, home birth is now a go. Very excited, and generally feeling awesome about it.

Had my 32 week check the other day. Everything looked good after all the contractions. My OB did a cervical check because of the contractions and said the outside is dilated a little but the inside is still closed. Last week the OB I saw had me worried about getting pulled out of work soon but my OB this week didn’t even mention it thankfully
Thanks guys!! I'm super excited. And...shouldn't have any more cervical checks either so that's also nice.

@JLyn821 Same here! I got mine back today. It was kind of a relief to know I wouldn't need antibiotics during labor. I have read that you can be negative one day then positive the next or vice versa.
32 week check up, pretty routine. I brought up how I have been cramping in my left side the past couple of days and she says to drink water, rest, don't go out in the heat (we are having a major heat wave) and told me not to have sex. DH didn't like that one, but we don't really do it anyway.
Had my 36 week appt Thursday. They used the portable ultrasound to confirm baby is head down. I wish they would do a grown scan just because I would love to get another peek at him, that anatomy scan seems like forever ago! Also I don't remember them mentioning anything about his size some the very early days and I'm just curious. They skipped the GBS swab since my urine sample was positive a few months ago, they'll just go ahead and treat me for it. She mentioned that they will start cervical checks next appointment but i plan to decline. Last time they go me all excited saying they didn't think I'd make it to the next appointment . . . and then I went past my due date. (Even if they claim they want a baseline, your cervix can dilate and then close back up so it's really an irrelevant measure.) I also had a cervical check when I went in to L&D for false labor that was so painful it kind of traumatized me. I was really hesitant to go back when I was actually in labor. My cervix was up behind baby's head so the nurse was pushing really hard and far as I was literally whimpering, shaking my head "no" and trying to scoot away from her but she just said "I know" and kept going. The second she left the room I burst into tears. I felt totally violated. So yeah, I will be declining unless we are checking to see if I am being admitted, and even then I will be telling them that if they can't easily reach my cervix - don't go f***ing spelunking! If it's that far up, baby's not about to pop out!
Thank you all for your advice about reflux and my nausea. You all were totally right and your tips have helped so much. I eat dinner a bit earlier (we used to be 8:00 PM eaters) and sit up after dinner. I try to keep my upper body a bit more upright in bed. I have added tums into the mix along with Zantac and I am starting to feel human again. Thank you more than you will ever know!
I had my 37 week hi/by appointment Tuesday. With this being a repeat C-Section due to my DD being breech we are patiently waiting for 9/7 (39 & 3) when he is scheduled to arrive. My body is telling me that he may surprise us sooner, and I'm totally okay with that. He was breech until 32 weeks & then flipped, so we are hoping we won't have to use the hip dysplasia harness like we did with DD. No cervical check until next week (38 week appt).

Everyrhing is so swollen and tender down there- that sounds absolutely awful.
