Any appointment updates? Had my regular maternity clinic appointment. Really excited because I got my note to be able to get a breast pump through insurance (and already ordered it! Woot!). Now just to decide whether to open it right away or wait.. I know I will get to use a hospital-grade pump for the first three months free of charge anyway.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Rave about the calcium+magnesium vitamin. Skip over if you've read the symptoms thread. I've been trying to battle my muscle aches/cramps with bananas and baths, but that only helped a little. I asked my doctor if it was okay to take magnesium (she said to take the calcium+magnesium because I think calcium helps magnesium absorb better). A couple of hours after taking it, I just felt that my calves and shoulders release and still feeling good! Even my hands were sort of "achy" before and now it's all gone. Anyway, try it if you haven't yet!
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? Movie - Gladiator. I watch it every time it comes on. Book - many! Chronicles of Amber (R Zelazny), Dragonriders of Pern (A McCaffrey), Deathworld (H Harrison)
How far along are you? 25 weeks + 2 days Any appointment updates? I have my glucose screening on Monday. I was nervous about it, but now I just don't care anymore. If I pass, I pass. If I fail, I fail. Motivation for anything, even to be anxious is low at the moment. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I'm so over being pregnant today. I had the worst heartburn until a coworker gave me some Tums. My job seems stupid. I'm just whiny all around today. Planning on spending my evening in pajamas, hopefully downing a pint of ice cream. It's that kind of day. GTKY: What's your favorite book or movie? My favorite movie is definitely Ten Things I Hate About You. Such a classic. As for books, oooh...that's harder. I've been feeling books by Jodi Picoult and Liane Moriarty lately. I keep thinking about The Pact and may need to reread it.
Any appointment updates? Nope. Just chillin in the hospital still.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Just got scolded for not wearing my compression boots frequently enough (ok ok I haven't worn them in like a week). They were annoying the crap out of me so I turned them off and then just kind of forgot about them
A hopeful rave: I think baby may have flipped around again, based on where I'm feeling kicked and where they found the heartbeat with the monitor. Fingers crossed that means my cervix can have a break from him cramming his toes down in there.
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie?
My favorite movie changes frequently, but right now I'm going to say Dr. Zhivago.
Favorite book is probably either Trinity or Mila 18, both by Leon Uris. I could read them over and over and over.
@ab_canada I got my pump in the mail last week! Although I'm not home to open it I'm glad the magnesium seems to be working for you!
@binxybaby I totally feel you on the lack of motivation, and work being stupid (so freaking stupid). I'm also feeling over being pregnant as well. I was actually enjoying it but now I'm in this weird limbo of obviously wanting this baby to stay in there as long as possible, but also just wanting all of this to be done and to have my baby here.
@hkom that sounds like good news! Hopefully your hunch is right and baby moved.
@binxybaby yes 10 things I hate about you! Best classic chick flick ever.
How far along are you? 22+3
Any appointment updates? Nada.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I'm hating all this heartburn and sudden nausea. I'm over it. And I can't sleep or even get comfortable. I can't believe I have 18 more weeks left of this.
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? I'm with @binxybaby, 10 things I hate about you is probably my top movie. Books, I'd have to say Harry Potter, though i know there are a few ladies here who don't share my taste lol
@ab_canada so glad the magnesium/calcium is helping! @binxybaby I think my glucose test is next week too. Semi concerned, but just because bb is measuring big. I'm eating lots of dessert this week just in case! @hkom fx that baby is flipped around and gets out of your cervix!! @scaredunprepared ugh sorry you're not feeling well- hope it's a short phase.
How far along are you? 24 today!
Any appointment updates? Nothing till Monday
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Nah, finishing up vacation with h and heading to a wedding with the rest of the in laws. Not sure it counts as vacation any more
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie?
I'm seconding HP. Always a go to for book or movie
@hkom Just think about how exciting it will be to go home and open that box! And I am sure sleeping in your own bed and making your own food, and all the other mundane stuff will feel amazing again. Fingers crossed everything is stable for you and you are allowed to go home next week.
@scared_unprepared@binxybaby I feel you on the heartburn. It's horrible and seems totally random. My dr told me to try sleeping with three pillows propped under me, which is basically impossible for me to do so I gave up. Tums and suffering it is.
@hkom I hope your baby stays in there a while longer and that you get to go home. Time must just drag in the hospital.
How far along are you?
25+6
Any appointment updates?
No new ones. 24 week appointment was fine/boring. I have my glucose test and 28 week appointment September 17. After that it's every two weeks. Bah, I might start skipping a few.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I am with @binxybaby and @hkom with the lack of motivation. It's been a problem all summer for me. School starts next week so I better kick it back into gear. I feel like I spend all day wasting time on the internet/eating snacks. I kinda just want my baby to arrive, though it's another 12 weeks until I'm full term (I've been keeping track of this number closely). I just feel like I'm
getting fatter and more uncomfortable/lazy by the day. Another 12 weeks seems like an awfully long time. And it could be up to 16 if I'm late!
@ab_canada I love all the Pern books! @hkom Hopefully baby did move like you suspect!
How far along are you? 24 weeks today
Any appointment updates? Nah, my next appointment is in September!
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I've been eating like crap. So I signed up for a friend's 21 Day Sugar Detox group in September. I've never done one, but a bunch of my friends have. It's not a true "detox" but rather is focused on getting rid of sugar/bad carb cravings and eating whole foods for 3 weeks. They have guidelines for pregnant people - basically adding in some extra carbs each day to make sure you're having enough. (I say this all after having a white biscuit and gravy for breakfast. AND a small thing of oatmeal. And a tiny bit of eggs. Hahahah )
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? I love fantasy - so Pern (as @ab_canada mentioned), Wheel of Time, Sword of Truth, Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, Harry Potter, etc. So many good books! For movies, I basically love any movie. Hahaha. I would be a terrible critic. I really like sci fi films - loved The Martian (though the book is even better!) and only will watch horror flicks if I can be next to someone and cut off the circulation in their hand. :-P
@omnommer We must have the same taste in books. I read all of those except Tolkien (I dunno, for some reason I just can't get into it. Maybe it's something I can try to tackle if I'm on mat leave and the baby decides to be late ) You'd probably enjoy Elizabeth Haydon's Symphony of Ages and Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea series.
@omnommer@ab_canada Hey nerds, I’m reading the last WoT book and am pacing myself because I don’t want it to be over. Afterward however I’m excited to read New Spring

@ab_canada Thanks for the suggestions! I grew up on Tolkien. My dad was reading my sister the hobbit when she was three and I was just able to pull myself up in my crib. I'd stare at them, sucking on my pacifier, until he'd let me sit in bed with them.
@echo-charlietango I think I mentioned before that I'm re-reading them and trying to get past book 9 (where I stopped last time). I'm currently on book 4! But I'm also reading the Outlander series, so it's slow going. Lol!
Any appointment updates? Midwife and glucose test yesterday That drink ick heads up can make you soo drowsy
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Found out my blood pressure is still going up noo so I now have growth scans every 3 weeks even though currently everything is perfect and I have a high chance of being induced at the start of December
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? I love Stardust or the labyrinth with David Bowie
Books where to start Harry potter of course The inheritance cycle by Christopher paolini is amazing lightning by dean koontz the flowers in the attic series eliza and her monsters so many to many to name
@donnawicks I'm sorry to hear about your blood pressure! Out of curiosity... what has is gone from to where is it now? Mine was always on the very low end (think 90-100/65-70). And now it's hitting at or above 120 and 80. It's still "normal" but since my mom had pre-eclampsia, we're just watching it.
@kadeephd Long live the wedge pillow - I don’t need it as bad as when I bought it, but I know I’ll miss it when we’re out of town next. Also - great favorites!
@omnommer Enjoy your sugar awareness group. I convinced DH to go no/low sugar & caffeine years ago, it was surprising at first, but super easy now. However it’s on hiatus because I need mini wheat fiber, and am giving in to the frosted stuff. When we cut sugars I don’t feel so bad about eating carbs, and turns out that we prefer making our own pasta sauce anyway
@donnawicks Oy, I didn’t think about the inevitable blood sugar crash after The Drink - I’ll schedule a nap after the blood draw if possible.
How far along are you?
24+1, whee!
Any appointment updates?
Not this week. I do get to drink the drink next week though - pretty confident that I'll pass the one hour.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Dear Diary, DH put Pea Soup on our menu and I cobbled together a house recipe. It was super good, and I had no idea what I was missing out on my not eating/making pea soup (not avoiding it, just not having it as an option all of my life apparently). I think I'm going to make pea soup every other week now, it's so delicious + easy + cheap. Yum.
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? Hard to say! I love fiction and sci-fi too. DH would say that my favorite movie is Serenity, but I don't know what I would say for movie. For books I think I have to go with a Kurt Vonnegut - he's so wonderful - I used to read Cat's Cradle annually, but haven't for a while. I can never answer this question when asked IRL

@echo-charlietango I. LOVE. PEA. SOUP. I don't know why it's so maligned. I guess because if you dont try it's probably easy to make it bland and gross. But it's also sooo easy to make amazing. I'm gonna have to add it to my winter foods list for this year
@hkom@kadeephd I used frozen peas and we liked it just fine. Very pea-y

Today, I have noticed light on and off cramping. They are not painful, but just enough to be noticable. Does any one else still get light cramps? Any time I feel them, I just figured it was from my uterus growing. But today, it just sends like I've had a little more than usual.
GTKY: What is your favorite book or movie? I love any Disney movie, but my favorite has always been The Lion King.
I used some rando chunks of stew pork from the grocery store, next time I’m using a half pound of bacon
1. Cook yo pork, drain excess fat - but keep some for next step 2. Sauté 1 chopped onion, 1 diced shallot, and several whole cloves garlic 3. Splash in 32oz chicken broth 4. Season with 1/4tsp smoked paprika, chipotle powder, black pepper, salt. 5. Add ~30oz frozen peas 6. Stir & bring to boil 7. Simmer 20-60 minutes 8. STUFF YOUR FACE

@morgantu enjoy the wedding! My ickyness was only a 2 day thing, today was MUCH better. Hoping the rest of the week continues like this.
@whitneyb89 I still get slight achy cramps on and off. I do think it's my uterus growing and stretching, as it's not really painful, just slightly uncomfortable.
@hkom@echo-charlietango and @kadeephd I'm not a fan of pork, otherwise I'd be all about the pea soup. That being said, I've been craving bacon lately.... which I haven't had in like 12 years. It's bizarre, but I have given in. I felt guilty afterward, but it hit the spot and actually made me feel better when I was feeling like poop. Probably contributed to my extreme heartburn though. I still feel really guilty about it, as piggies are so cute and smart I hate the idea of them being food. My sister's SIL and BIL own a pork farm, though.... so I'm a walking contradiction! Life is complicated.
Any appointment updates? -My next appointment is my glucose screening in a few weeks. I can't wait to get past that one :P
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? -Oh my gosh, I have had the worst sinus problems the last week or so. And I live in central California, surrounded by all of the smoke from the fires in the north and the south, so that makes it all a million times worse.
