Progesterone Injections..ugh

edited August 2018 in February 2019 Moms
Hello, I'm 41 y.o, this is my 4th pregnancy (13.5 wks). My OB is insisting I begin prog. injections, to prevent preterm birth. I'm nervous, & currently uneducated about it. I am interested in your opinions & experiences, from you all.
*1st pregnancy: He entered the world @ 34 wks
*2nd: My water broke at 20 wks, she was stillborn
*3rd: He went all the way to 40 wks
*4th (current): I had a threatened miscarriage at 6 wks, & now taking a baby aspirin daily.
What are your thoughts, experiences, pros & cons? Thank you ALL in advance!

Re: Progesterone Injections..ugh

  • I had an incompent cervix last pregnancy, I definitely recommend the shots if your doctor is recommending them, they help prevent preterm labour and are low in side effects. I’m on them and aspirin for this pregnancy as well. I know they are a pain the ass though, literally!

  • I did the progesterone inserts which are no fun but have fewer side effects than the shots. Ask if you can do those! I was on it from 0-10weeks and they are a miracle. I am 42 and currently 14-6d and this is my first pregnancy. Progesterone works and glad your dr is on top of it!
  • I am on a progsterone pill so i don't have experience with the shots, but I have minimal side effects and I would do what my doctor recommends.

  • @Erinm278 there is a pill!!!! I would have asked for that instead! Does it give you the nasty side effects like headaches etc?
