Honestly, not great. We have been so busy the last few weeks that I have only made it to the gym a handful of times.
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently?
I have decided that I need to start doing more cardio and fewer weights. We have always focused a lot of weights and only did a couple of days of cardio, but I’ve modified it so I now do 20 minutes of cardio first and light weights with any remaining gym time I have. Still trying to spin 2x per week.
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend?
My Mom is coming to town this weekend for our baby shower! We will definitely get up and go for walks both Saturday and Sunday, if we don’t have time to go to the gym (she’s a personal trainer so she always nicely pushes me to workout with her every day when she is here, even if it’s just a morning walk or something).
So how is everyone doing staying fit? so so awful. I've made it to class maybe once a week? It's been so hard to convince myself to get up and go, when it always makes my back hurt worse after. I know exercise will help make labor easier, but it's so hard to be motivated!
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently? Nothing too major recently, although I'm pretty sure any Olympic lift with a barbell isn't gonna happen anymore lol. No way I can swing that around a bump. Just more of the same, scaling back on weights and taking breaks as needed.
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend? Nope. But I may try to work out in our home gym Saturday or Sunday. I should be able to still squat, deadlift, and shoulder press, plus we have some kettlebells I can use as well. Still able to jump rope (but I can't run...)so may get that cardio in!
Eta: @spartan4life it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one struggling to maintain their routine.
Are you the only noticeably pregnant person st the gym? Every time I go my husband is like, “did they ask why you are here?” Still feeling good at my Zumba classes but noticeably tired and sore afterwords. I decided to take a 3k walk to Starbucks and Marshall’s yesterday and felt like I go straight to bed afterwards. Had to get my husband to pick me up!
@jemmerjams still jump roping? I’m impressed! To me that’s way too bouncy. I’ll go for a run over that any day
@spartan4life love that your mom is a PT! I have family coming in this weekend, too, but they like to sit and chat. Makes me antsy.
So how is everyone doing staying fit? Still getting something in (running, yoga, or Pilates) at least 5 days/week, though the intensity is going down. I found a couple decent prenatal yoga videos to sub in on days I’m too lazy to go to the studio. We’ll see how I do when I go back to work in 2 weeks, though
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently? Definitely walking more when I run, especially on hills. Seriously, I didn’t realize how many hills surrounded my house. Ugh.
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend? Hoping to still get my Sunday run in, but will have family in town for my shower, so we’ll see. The current plan is to have them meet us out for breakfast - I run there, they can drive me back!
@halfanewt I wear a support band, and it's fine! Running however, is super jarring on the bladder and too much movement, even with the band. Weird how everyone is different!!
@jenchoo I'm pretty much the only pregnant woman at my gym, but I do CrossFit so it's a smaller community and we just happen to have less women anyway. Although at my last class I attended, another woman was 20 weeks! Really depends on the woman how active she stays. Some drop out completely, some like me scale back and attend less frequent, and then we have the super women who still can go 4 times a week and maintain their endurance and strength and have their water break in class! But everyone always tells me how great it is I'm still going, even if it's only once a week.
OMG I haven't gone in 2 weeks.. maybe 3 now I really want to cry but with DS not in camp/school, I have no membership anywhere and we just moved so I am at least trying to walk with him everyday to the supermarket or starbucks. I feel like it is going to take me forever to get back to where I was.
I have managed to still get to the gym 2-3 times a week...but I'm really only walking for 30 mins followed by stretching. I can't run cause I just pee my pants I've also been continuing with squats, mostly to try and keep my pelvic floor from completely giving up on me!
Having a dog has been my saving grace some days, a quick hike with him in the evenings at least gets me active on the days I don't get to the gym.
This weekend - probably not much but hopefully at least 1 good hike with the dog.
Have been maintaining my normal frequency (5-6) days a week but the intensity has definitely scaled back. The hubs is getting tired of the same three beachbody videos on rotation (cardio fix, total body cardio and Shaun T’s Pure Cardio 2) but so far I don’t have to modify these ones. Also trying to run 2 days a week.
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently?
My running has been the biggest change - pace and distance. The hubs encouraged me to cut back to 3 miles max after I did a longer run one morning and then felt really crappy that evening. Otherwise, just decreasing intensity.
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend?
Tomorrow is my planned day off! I work 9-5 and then we are going to see Ben Folds Five. Sunday I plan to relax but we will probably take the dog for a quick run/walk.
So how is everyone doing staying fit? I’m still walking 5-6 days per week. Doing 20 minute prenatal strength workouts 3 times per week. Yoga and stretching when I feel I need it.
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently? Nope. As long as I keep my walks to a reasonable pace I’m good!
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend? We’re going to my parents this weekend for our Jack and Jill baby shower. I will probably get my walk in Saturday morning before we leave but might not get anything else done for the weekend.
@jemmerjams Makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one too! It’s definitely getting harder and harder every week to stay motivated
@halfanewt Yeah, it’s awesome! Prepregnancy she always kicked my butt and gave me good new workouts to try. She’s softer on me right now lol but it’s nice motivation because she always makes me do something while she’s here and she asks me how my workouts are going whenever I talk to her. That keeps me accountable and motivated (although like I said, the last few weeks have been bad in that department..she’s been surprisingly understanding haha)
ETA: Great job to all you still running, and everyone that is still able to stay active the majority of the week, I’m impressed!
I’m also struggling to keep up. Impressed by those of you still in the routine! And also empathetic with those who feel they’ve fallen off. We all have to listen to our own bodies
So how is everyone doing staying fit? Similarly not so great. My pool closed for renovations and it’s been too hot to run (I hate treadmills so it’s outside or nothing...) I still climb once or twice a week, do yoga once or twice a week, and walk everywhere. So...I give myself a C.
Any changes or modifications you’ve had to make recently? Stopped running because it was too humid, even early morning.
Any fun and fit friendly activities planned for this weekend? I climbed AND did yoga today. Tomorrow might go kayaking as long as it’s not stormy.
