@ttcat44 my insurance picked up a lot of cost. It covered a large chunk of injections. Femara was covered with insurance. And the visits, US and IUI cost me about $200 each cycle. RE told me if insurance didn’t cover it, it would run $800 to $1,000 a cycle. If I had frozen eggs, I might just jump at that especially if they are from younger years
Quick question: Is preseed only for TTC couples that need to use lubricant and need one that is sperm-friendly or is it helpful for all TTC couples to use even if they don't need lubricant? Thanks!
@ttcat44 our RE actually recommended for everyone regardless of ‘need’ as it can still help. But for cost, he said save yourself the $ on the preseed and use olive oil, just as effective!
@Momifbysea It looks like you're quite far into this journey. It's heartening to see someone close to my age TTC (although you're younger). I'm getting my AMH, FSH and other Day 3 tests done tomorrow. I'm TERRIFIED of the results!! [gulp]
@ttcat44 let me know how it goes with your test results! I get it, it’s goid to know we aren’t alone in this at our age. I should probably get retested soon, as September will mark two years since I tested with our re. My signature has all the details of this road...
Hi! Okay I got my Day 3 tests back: FSH 17.6 Estradiol 16
I'm not sure what this means. I know my FSH isn't ideal but I was expecting worse at 44. No clue whether low estradiol is good or bad. Any insights are appreciated!
I have a question about fertility treatments. It seems like there's the Clomid/Prevara + IUI route and there's the IVF/FET route... Is that all they've got for us (aside from targeted drugs for ovulation, etc.)?
@ttcat44 there’s femara used for IUIs like I did twice, and then within IVF there are so many different drug protocols out there, even mini IVF which some say Work better for women our age. What kind of coverage do you have? I did two IUIs because doing IVF at the time freaked me out but in hindsight wish at my age I had jumped straight to IVF and not wasted three months.
@ttcat44 my RE tried just femara for 3 IUIs when that didn’t work he added injections which are drugs they use for IVF. We did that for another 2 cycles when I got knocked up.
@ttcat44 I know the feeling too well but for me I just can’t shake this or stop trying, looking at all my options. When I have a plan - and importantly a plan B - that really helps me stay hopeful and in a better mental place. I tell myself, I’m still having regular periods, still ovulating, so there IS a chance. I google pregnant at 45 stories and things like that. I don’t know if this will make you feel better. What does your re suggest?
Thanks. My RE is on vacation but I'm dreading her response to my bloodwork. Her bedside manner is not the best and I have a feeling she will dump me as a patient.
My blood sugar is also elevated (although I'm normal BMI) and I'm wondering if that might be underpinning my DOR... In any case, it seems I should get my blood sugar down before doing any treatments.
@ttcat44 I think that’s a good idea as I’ve geard blood sugar can affect success. For me I’d like to get my BMI down a bit. According to BMI charts I’m like 1-2 pounds in the overweight category and that bugs me. Darn summer and ice cream lol!
