@mrstmoose I considered getting my maternity clothes out this morning. The bloat is awful! I'm a SAHM so I wear leggings most of the time, but I put on jeans this morning to take DD to the library and I was so uncomfortable. All this bloat has given me a lovely muffin top, so I wore a flowy maternity tank top #noshame

STM+'s: ...how exactly does it work if you have a doctor affiliated with multiple hospitals, but there's only one in particular you want to deliver at?
During my last pregnancy, I chose the hospital I wanted to deliver at. They had an ob/gyn practice: I saw every doctor at least once over the course of my pregnancy, and I knew one of them would deliver my daughter. I've recently moved and it might be untenable to return to my old practice (that hospital is 15 miles away from my house, which can be well over an hour with traffic!). But I'm having trouble making sense of this all as I look for a new doctor!
@mrstmoose one of my girlfriends is bringing me the community maternity clothes tomorrow - she said her last two pregnancies she was uncomfortable in standard pants by 6 weeks.
@MRDCle my cousins and I also have a community tub of maternity clothes that we pass around. One just had a baby at the end of June so I feel bad asking for it already but I really want my comfy leggings

I'm super jealous that you have friends in the same situation as you and that you can share maternity clothes!
Almost none of my good friends around me have kids, most of them barely have stable relationships. One that lives on the other side of the US has them but i haven't seen her since my wedding over 6 years ago! The other is a size 2 and never bought maternity clothes. I am a fail at irl mom friends.

First time mom here. I have an appt on Thursday but I think its just with a general NP. My next appt (with my OB) isn't til Mid Sept. Is it not normal to get some kind of ultra sound at the first appointment? I will be 6 weeks. I was hoping for something that will give me a bit more reassurance since i'm also in the club of not having many symptoms. I'm also a generally anxious person... So some reassurance would be so nice.
@b9315 I had my first ultrasound with my DS at 7 weeks, but that is the earliest my doctor will do them. I’ve read of some having ultrasounds as early as 6 weeks, and some who wait even longer. I think it varies depending on what the physician likes to do. I definitely was able to see my little peanut and hear his heartbeat at 7 weeks. I know how dreadful the wait is to get to see it for the first time! Good luck to you!
@b9315, with my first I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks, but that was because I specifically requested it to confirm the pregnancy. I've read some doctors don't do an ultrasound before 12 weeks.
Anyone (or STMs) have a goodnight pregnancy journal they recommend? I’m the sentimental type & this may be our only child . This is the one I have been eyeing:
@b9315- most won't do them until 7 weeks because you can't see a heart beat until after 6 weeks. I'm getting one right before 7 weeks due to IF/after loss. You can request one but that also doesn't mean that you will get one. Your general NP probably won't do it and you'll probably have to wait for your first OB.
@jrm_14 - I'm pretty sentimental too but considering DD baby book has stopped at 8 months (and she's now 2), I probably won't do that this time around. I did keep up a pregnancy journal for her though, primarily because she was diagnosed with a heart condition in utero and I wanted to not have pregnancy brain and remember everything (and also save it for a guilt trip when she's a teenager, if needed LOL).
ETA: grammar is hard when a computer autocorrects.
@bhoop941 wow, I think we may have the same due date! I have my first appointment tomorrow, and I’ll also be 6+1. I hadn’t thought about asking for a transvaginal but now I probably will.
Thank goodness I’m not the only one! Symptoms seem to come and go. I felt the worst around when my period was due. Now it’s boobs that vary in soreness, some on and off light cramps and extreme hunger & fatigue. Oh, and I pee ALL THE TIME.
Just heard from the nurse, and I’m on my way in for my fourth beta. So far so good but I’m nervous. Ultrasound Friday. I’m praying for disgusting morning sickness just for extra reassurance

@baya5@thurstober I am having my third and while this was planned and I am thrilled, I am scared shitless of people's reactions. I know I shouldn't care, but intrinsically, I know I will. Having a baby is a super exciting thing and people should have nothing but positive reactions. No one knows you situation but you. It is hard to remember that myself. I honestly am mostly worried about my mother. I can picture her reaction now - "Well you better stop going on so many vacations and saving up if you are going to afford another one!" - spoken from the world's worst person with money. Rant over...

I'm sorry all you ladies who feel like people are judging you for having too many kids. You should just move to where I am... not at all uncommon for people to have 5 or 6 lol
@mrstmoose ummm I busted out the maternity pants halfway through this week because my regular pants started digging into my bloat. May be premature but why be uncomfortable when I don't have to be?? #noshame #maternityclothesarelife
@berky84 I can still fit into my jeggings and most of my non-maternity work clothes. But I'm super excited for maternity clothes, they are the best. There's a chance they've all been washed and hung up, ready to wear.
I am having some bloating. But I feel like I didn’t start showing until about 4-5 months last time. I’ve heard second time around you tend to show sooner... but I haven’t unpacked the maternity box yet. Maybe I’m doing maternity clothes wrong... but I just don’t feel like maternity office wear is that great.
So I'm going to eat crow. I earlier said I wouldn't be doing a pregnancy journal, but I needed to get into DD keepsake tub and found the pregnancy journal I bought when I was pregnant with her and there is SO MUCH I forgot about. Soooooo I might end up getting one again this time. I craved sub sandwiches and red wine and could not stand hot dogs. Who knew?!
@MRDCle well dresses are the bomb diggity. I'm not working this week so I'm hanging out all day everyday in the BFs boxers... loose roomy comfy knits with low waistline.. perfect.
Anyone ever had a teeth cleaning during pregnancy? I haven't been able to find definitive science that says it could be a bad idea, but definitely finding a lot of internet trash all over the place. I haven't been able to afford one in a long time and just scheduled one to ward off the tooth and gum decay that's already starting.
@sheepshepherdess I had multiple last pregnancy. I have never heard anything about it being risky. My insurance actually covered an extra cleaning during my last pregnancy because tooth/gum issues are pretty common during pregnancy. It was crummy because my gums easily bled last time, coupled with my increased gag reflex, but the hygienist was super kind and patient.
@sheepshepherdess I think its actually sometimes recommended because pregnancy can mess with your teeth/gums so badly. I need to get myself an appointment since its been ages since i've been to the dentist
I wanted to start a new thread since this one is already like 5 days old but has anybody bought anything yet? I got newborn diapers and wipes because I needed them for the announcement, and then I got credit off at an IG shop so of course I got a little outfit and now today I found a super epic deal on cloth diapers and bought 7... I'm half guilty and half I don't care at this point... like... I'm terrible, I'm so newly pregnant. Ahhh.
@jrm_14@professormama@mrstmoose My mom just mailed me my baby book which had a lot of "while pregnant" mementos and stories and I bawled my eyes out. Not all the sections were filled out and it probably wouldn't win any IG awards, but it meant so much to me and DH.
@kaleesi93 I have not purchased anything for LO yet, but I see no reason not to if you're ready! It makes me anxious pre-US because it doesn't feel real yet. I'm sure the Amazon dam will burst in early Sept after I see a heartbeat.
@kaleesi93 you’re a FTM, right? Don’t go super crazy on cloth diapers yet - what I thought would be easy, cheap, and practical (flats) turned out to be near-impossible for DH to master. What he thought would be good (AIOs) took forever and a day to dry. We compromised on a medium-sized stash of snap Green Mountain Diaper workhorses, which I thought we would only use overnight. Also, the BST groups are full of deals on newborn/small size cloth diapers.
@lyse01 eh its weird, I raised and cloth diapered my siblings but yes technically I'm a first time mom and thank you for all your advice! I did get them off a bst group and they were RearZ and Kissaluvs, both of which I've used before so I felt more safe buying them but still.. don't go crazy is the goal!! And omg I totally feel you!! There are big drawbacks to aios, ai2s, flats, covers etc.. what I look for most is trimness, I cant stand bulk between their little newborn legs.. That being said it seems like all the good brands and WAHM shops are all closed in the few years since I've diapered a newborn
Awww @lyse01 thank you I'm trying at least but like diapers I used to love are totally different now so I'll have learn new kinds.. Green Mountain flats were the first diaper I ever used besides cheap prefolds from walmart!
@kaleesi93 I liked the bum genius pockets. The AIOs weren’t sufficient once my baby got bigger. But the pockets can be slimmed down for an infant or double stuffed for a toddler. They actually sell specific newborn cloths but I didn’t invest in those. We used paper for the first 2-3 months, then went to cloth once he was big enough.

@mermaidca, I don't believe so, unless it went completely rancid. It's just turning me off from eating it, haha, so I may have to feed them to my DH.
