<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/vp/hqqkvn6tf9ty.gif" alt=""> Any appointments this week? Any special concerns? Feel free to update us here... ❤
@mandymost how did it go? I had my first NST today (will go twice a week until I deliver). At first, they said it looked like I have an “irritable uterus” but then I registered one contraction over 1 min long. Baby did well and then they did a quick ultrasound to check amniotic fluid-also normal.
I have m OB check up later in the week. And I haven’t decided whether I’ll keep my previously scheduled growth scan on Thursday (OB told me last week she didn’t think it would impact clinical management, but it was not presented as optional by my MFM from NYC, I like having additional info, and I have to be at the same location for my NST that afternoon anyways).
37 week appointment is on Thursday. Belly, heartbeat, and cervical check. I had about 15-20 minutes of painful lower belly BH yesterday evening. There were quite a few just a couple minutes apart for that time. I can only imagine they progressed everything even more. I sat and rolled on my exercise ball for about 45 minutes after the kids were in bed and I think baby dropped even more. Today has been uncomfortable.
My NST have been uneventful...this was maybe my 4th week of them? I haven’t had contractions while hooked up, they just like to see a few accelerations/decelerations of the heart rate. All good today! It’s the same office as my OB, so it’s in tandem with the regular appointment. Doc said they’ll sweep my membranes at 38 weeks to hopefully get things going and avoid a scheduled c-section! That’ll be a week from Friday!
@mandymost glad they’ve been uneventful! And super convenient they can coordinate appts - my MFM and OB offices are in separate zip codes here, and MFM is rigid with scheduling. But I don’t have to coordinate childcare or juggle my work schedule anymore, so I won’t complain too much.
Had my appointment at the high risk clinic today. Babe grew just enough that they are willing to wait until 37w to take him/her out. The NST was good and baby is quite active. (S)he is still planning a glamorous butt first entry into the world and has already lowered into the birth canal bum first, hence the c-section instead of inducing. That and baby weighs a big fat 2kg at this point.
So I'm a bit bummed that my whole natural birth vision went out of the window, but I'm glad for the proper follow up and making sure we do what's best for the baby.
I'm sorry you're not getting the birth you had hoped for @tpeci but that's great they're letting you wait until 37 weeks now. Will there be any additional follow-up to see if you can go even longer? Or will 37 weeks be it no matter what at this point?

Had my 36 week appt this afternoon and doctor said all my numbers looked good. She also said they considered 37 weeks to be full term which is a change from when I had DS 2 years ago. She made a note in my file that I didn’t want an epidural and seemed encouraging about that.
@DanyTargaryen I will have another growth echo at 37w that will be the final decision maker, but they don't seem super hopeful. The growth between 2 weeks ago and today was the bare minimum so they would consider it safe to let baby in until term.
It's ok that the plan didn't work out, I always told everyone that asked me that baby makes the final decision anyway. I had just gotten my hopes up since things had been going smoothly until a few weeks ago. I just need to wrap my head around it!
@tpeci Way to keep that perspective! A safe arrival for baby is the most important thing! Here’s hoping your next scan is good!!
I have my 37 week on Thursday, but this last week they did my GBS test so since I was undressed she checked me and I was 2 cm and 60% effaced. He’s also nice and low (he dropped last week, my pictures from Tuesday and Thursday look different!) which has made me wish for a harness to help support my sore vag! Ha!
Had my 37 week appointment today. Feeling some cramps since Sunday but nothing too painful. Doctor checked my cervix and said that I was thinned out, baby's head was down. Is that a good sign? Cause I've been so uncomfortable the past couple days Had an NST test for the firs time today too, baby's heart rate was higher than normal but everything looked good.
@lpq0309 it’s very good that baby is head down. At 37 weeks it’s pretty common that you’re starting to thin out and become dialated, but definitely doesn’t mean you’ll be going into labor any moment. I was walking around like that for 2-3 weeks with my first. If baby has dropped, that might explain the discomfort- that tends to put a lot more pressure on your pelvis. You can usually tell that on your own if your belly is starting to look lower than it was before
@nackie Thank you!!! I did a lot of googling after my appointment cause I instantly got my hopes up. She's been head down for almost 3 weeks now but just recently it's become so uncomfortable. My belly was already low to begin with but will I notice it drop even more?
36 week quick appointment. Did the GBS swab but no mention of a cervical check. I got the OK to add nasal spray to my Mucinex/Sudafed combo to hopefully ease my cold symptoms. She said my lungs still sound good so it's just a cold currently. I had a weird urine result on mychart and forgot to ask about my blood pressure (so I sent an email) and I'm hoping to hear back from them on that and the GBS test soon
How long have people been having to wait for GBS results?
@EErin86 Swab for me today, they told me results in 2 days.

@eerin86 I waited one week and got my results today. GBS negative - awesome, because antibiotics always mess with my Crohn’s disease, and I’ll have enough going on after birth.
Had a great appt with my nurse practitioner (I rotate between her and the OB). She’s my favorite for sure. Told me to definitely keep my appointment for the growth scan (no harm in checking up) and we talked about my fear of complications going too far past my due date, especially as I’m already at increased risk of several of these complications due to severe Crohn’s. I told her I was interested in membrane stripping as I’ve read it can shorten gestation by an average of 3-4 days and asked her opinion. she told me my OB wasn’t likely to do it BUT that she’s happy to at my 38 week appt (I’ll actually be 38&6) and that I just need to have sex the night before and be prepared for notable discomfort since her fingers are short and stubby.
She also told me the OBs typically don’t like to go over 10 days past the due date but since I’m nervous about timing to start “squawking” at my 40 week appt.
interestingly, my fundal height has measured exactly two weeks ahead the entire pregnancy (with the exception of an unknown for my last visit— didn’t get th number) but I’m right on track now (36.5). Curious to see what the growth scan shows since those two numbers have always aligned for me.
Had a growth scan today since I have an anterior placenta and they were checking it hadn’t attached to my c-section scar. That looked good thankfully! The amniotic fluid though was at 26 and 24 is the cut off for normal so have another ultrasound scheduled for next week to see if it goes down
36w appointment was uneventful! Got the GBS swab, so should find out the results at my next apt, fundal measurement was spot on, baby's heart rate was good, and apparently baby was "fidgety" for the doctor. Lol She also did a mini u/s to confirm, baby is for sure head down!
We booked my 38w scan plus apt, and 39w with the last doctor I haven't met yet, and the scheduler said there's actually a good chance she might be the one on call, so good to meet her ahead of time!
Chiro was great, and DH even got his TDAP today. All in all, not a bad day! [Although] the doctor wasn't overly concerned about the pain I've been in, so fx the chiro helps. Cos the #brokencrotchclub is not a fun place to be. :/
I met with an OB last week to do a more accurate measurement of where the placenta is sitting in relation to the cervix. It’s 1.5 cm in some spots and 2.5 in others so they’re allowing me to go ahead with a vaginal birth. They still want me to keep an eye on bleeding, though I’ve had nothing this entire pregnancy, and no membrane sweep allowed. I also have a regular appointment with regular doctor Thursday (37+3).
I’m happy this baby is getting to come out on his own terms (assuming we don’t run late and need an induction). But I would be lying if I said I didn’t sort of like the idea of having something in my life happen according to a plan.

I had been measuring ahead but went to on track when baby dropped. My OB said it’s because baby’s more in your pelvis and not up so high.
Hey ladies! Had my 37 week appointment today. Declined the cervical check in honor of you all and the discussion about it last week. (I was 1-2cm last week and I'll let them check again next week since we'll start talking about inducing at 39 weeks. Figured I could miss a week of being told 1-2cm ha.) My OB is hilarious and feels the baby with his hands on my abdomen and says "I don't think you'll be having a baby as big as your last one" which is all well and good except he did that same thing less than 2 years ago and estimated 7lbs 10-12oz and then the next day the baby was 10lbs 13oz. Thanks Dr. B but I think I'll trust the growth ultrasound over you. Really though I'm happy he's not freaking out about my goal of having another vbac with another huge baby.

@crispy11 hah. My OB did the same thing last time. Felt my belly and told me he thought baby would be in the low 7s. Nope, 8.13 a week later. At my last appointment a different doctor said the same thing about this one and when I told her how much DS weighed, she was shocked.
37 week appointment was this morning. Still just 50% and -3 but moved up a bit to 1.5cm. I’m shocked the baby isn’t at -2 with how I’ve seen him/her drop in the last week. Oh well.
Next appointment is next Wednesday. We’ll see what that brings.
38w appt tomorrow with a cervical check and membrane stripping. Just had sexytime and will go for a long walk and will dry pump tomorrow before my appt. Bringing my hospital bag with me in case. Let’s get this show on the road!
Another chiro apt last night... it was interesting tho, she said the baby wanted her to leave it alone! Lol Said baby was likely in sleep-mode, which I think was true, bc there wasn't much movement going on during the adjustment this time, except once that felt like sleepy arms/hands trying to get cozy, down low. So wild!
Tonight is the new parents class with DH at the hospital.
Had a growth ultrasound, labs and appointment on Thursday (33+5). At the appt, my first BP reading was 178/92. Had my scheduled NST and then took my BP again: 170/90. So she ended up admitting me for 24 hour observation with urine collection and magnesium sulfate IV. That was not fun, was super upset, alone (husband had to work). The Mag is the devil!! Seriously felt like I was fighting a horrible, cheap hangover that just wouldn't go away. During all of this, they monitored baby girl and she is doing just fine. Is measuring at 5lbs right now. Dr released me yesterday evening and sent me home with a script for BP meds that I'll be on the duration of the pregnancy. Talk about a scary 24 hours! Go back Monday for NST and appointment and talk about the plan for the next 3 weeks because she has already said I will deliver at 37 weeks, if not sooner.
