I'm going after school today for my NIPT blood draw!

I can see we all have the same thing on our minds! I have been counting down the days to next week's appointment! Could use the reassurance from the ultrasound that all is well. 10 days!

I'm going a little crazy over here.  I still haven't been able to tell the father that I'm pregnant.  He lives in another state and just started a new job so it's been hard to find time to travel and connect.  I hate to just tell him over the phone.

@violetmarie61516 its so easy to creep away when I'm feeling that way. Reaching out is so much better though. I should be using this group, not shying away. Glad to have an outlet  I'm glad it's helping you.

I think I'm just going to have to tell him over the phone though. I'm not sure how it's going to go and yes it's absolutely driving me nuts to be hiding this all!

@meggyme I literally asked my ob today if I could do both the NIPT genetic test and the NT scan and she laughed at me saying there’s no way insurance would cover that since they are basically different ways to do the same test. I told her I did both last time and she still said no. I did get her to write a script for another “dating” ultrasound so at least there’s that.

@mamakate1616 I was shocked that they cover the testing because they didn't 2 years ago when I was last pregnant. And lately they've been stripping coverage left and right, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m 10 weeks and my uterus feels like it has a bowling ball in it. None of my damn pants fit and it’s past just bloating. I’m still getting sick even on the Diclegis and if these effing multiple times a night twin dreams don’t stop soon I’m going to an ultrasound place just to put my mind at ease.

Ok. So my app glitched or something and signed me into an old account that I forgot the password to (don't ask me how because technology is evil and i don't like it) but this is me. Not a troll. I promise lol

any overweight (I'm technically not plus size, but no doubt a chubbster) mamas having a hard time telling the difference between their food babies and actual babies? I'm only 7wks, but my pants are tight & when I try to suck in my belly, I get cramping around what would be a baby bump? the cramping subsides when I relax.

surely, my bump can't be coming in this early?! (this is my, techincally, 3rd pregnancy, fyi)
  • Options
@batmama31 I have no doubt mine is still all food baby (I’m ~9 weeks and this is my 5th time being pregnant/hopefully 2nd take home baby). There’s a lot of bloating going on and it can be uncomfortable sometimes but most of my pants are quite stretchy (I guess that’s what happens when you gain 40 lbs over a couple years and don’t want to buy “bigger” clothes). It’s still too early, especially at only 7 weeks for baby to pop out. My guess is bloating + maybe some bathroom related issues?

@mamakate1616 This is also my 5th pregnancy, hopefully 2nd take home baby. Hugs!

I've lost two pounds since my last appointment, five pounds total since becoming pregnant and my clothes are still getting tighter. I just look frumpy at this point.

I had an OB appointment today. Peanut was moving around, even after knowing where baby was from the ultrasound machine, baby still hid from the doppler.

Is there a thread on 12 week scans? I'm drawing a blank on the actual name. It's the one where they make sure the placenta is doing it's job and whether or not baby has down syndrome? I've never gotten the ultrasound done before because it's never mattered to us if baby had downs. We'd love them anyways. My doctor wants to do it this time due to my history of MC's and blood sugars being higher. I'd like more information from moms who've done it and what to expect?

@bdesterhouse hugs to you too! <3

I have also lost a few pounds since my last appt but overall pretty consistently frumpy. I have big time “B belly” going on at home which I hate. Ready for a real bump to round me out lol!

I think what you are talking about is the NT or Nuchal  translucency scan. I didn’t know they checked on the placenta but they measure something that can signal downs. Is been a while since I had mine with DD but I’d compare it to a mini anatomy scan. I asked for one because I want to see baby again, OB said no because we are doing the genetics test (again, not concerned about downs just want to know gender) so I asked if there was some other way to get an ultrasound and she said I could get another “dating scan”.

@mamakate1616 the NIPT genetic testing that we are doing also determines the sex.

@batmama31 I didn't lose all my pg weight from my pg with my 2 year old DD, so I didn't have a flat stomach to start with, but I am definitely finding I'm 'thicker' around the middle and having a tough time hiding my belly! I'm wearing the most flowy clothes I can because I'm not ready to tell work yet! I do get that cramping you describe, when I try frantically to suck in my stomach. This is technically my 3rd pg too. I'm thinking my ah muscles are a lot weaker this time around (I have mild diastasis recti from my first pg) so that's why my muscles aren't able to hold in any bloat/food belly/etc.

@shrub It's funny, I just realized today that I've been doing the same thing. I've been reading on the board but haven't posted/interacted in a week or two. For me what happened is I was feeling really positive after a good 9w us and so we told my inkaws the news and now I'm so nervous something is going to go wrong and that we told them too soon :disappointed: Its' almost harder on me now that some people know, if that makes sense. I have my 12w us on Monday so I just have to survive 5 more days and then hopefully I'll see a healthy baby! Fingers crossed.

@laur84ns You're not alone with the post-telling anxiety! I didn't want to tell my in-laws for fear of something happening and as soon as we told them I was frantically checking for spotting every time I went to the bathroom. Really can't explain it because I didn't have this anxiety with my first.
  • Options
@laur84ns @HoneyBear40 that's exactly when I pulled away. It got too real or something, too much at stake. Before telling people I wasn't feeling *quite* as bad. Ultrasound in less than a week. I just keep telling myself that.

  • Options
@shrub @HoneyBear40 Ok, well I'm sorry you're both feeling the same way,  but I'm so happy I'm not alone! Yep, less than a week and I can breathe a massive sigh of relief (I hope!)

**Waves**  I haven't ventured to the randoms board because I'm counting it as a good day if I accomplish anything above and beyond keeping my children fed and alive.  At least I'm staying out of the ER today and food is staying down.  WIN!  Speaking of next appointments, mine is 10 days away and I can't wait!  We're waiting to tell the kids and it's getting harder and harder to explain away "mommy's tummy troubles".

@laur84ns @HoneyBear40@shrub - i'm with you! we were forced to tell a TON of people at 4 weeks. we had a trip to jamaica for a huge family wedding/reunion scheduled 6 days after we got our BFP. we had to cancel due to zika virus. at the doctor's advice, since we were in such a pickle, we told everyone in our family associated with the trip and made sure to say it was REALLY early... but that didn't stop the anxiety from setting in! we had a great 7 week U/S which helped quite a bit... and then we had our 10 week and now i'm cool as a cucumber and feeling much better... but there were several weeks in there that i was a complete and total basket case. i instantly regretted telling anyone.... but i'm also not sure what else i would have done or said. it was a particularly unique situation.

@batmama31I was suuuuper bloat-y at 7/8 weeks and around 10/11 it felt sooo much better. Weird, right? But there's hope you'll feel better soon. :)

When is it acceptable to start claiming pregnancy brain as an excuse? Went into work to an onslaught of emails and definitely confused a couple of the threads and sent responses meant for others. Luckily one of my coworkers pointed it out in a nice way and no harm done; just embarrassing  :D

@lelkcot, ugh, I had a constant cold for over a month last pregnancy. I'd be stuffy for several days, and then it would develop into a full blown cold where I'd go through literally an entire roll of toilet paper in a day, and then it'd subside to just snuffly for a few days, and then it'd go back into a full cold. So annoying. My midwives said with a lowered immune system due to pregnancy, I was probably just catching every cold that was going around.

My goal was to head into work before my appt. today. I went back to get dressed, laid down on the bed, and woke up an hour and half later. I’m telling myself it’s okay because I only have today and tomorrow left before I head back to work. I’m going to listen to my body while I have the luxury of doing it!
