First Trimester Check In- Week of 8/6

Re: First Trimester Check In- Week of 8/6

  • @jamieh2000 awesome news!! Last time I had some bloodwork done which was for Down syndrome and other abnormalities but also told us the gender. We actually didn’t want to find out but apparently I was signed up for quest and when I was emailed the results it obviously said female chromosome. We were so bummed to find out but at the same time it was a blessing because DH kept on saying “my son” so it was better that he was prepared. Lol I’m not sure if insurance covered any of it but I ended up paying $200 for it. This time we want to find out what it is through that test.
  • @kristimh80 our nursery wasn’t done until she was 5 months old. Yes I was kinda freaking out but I’m planning for this baby to be in our room for 5 months too. She slept in a rock n play all that time. It was the only thing she could sleep in. And transition to a crib was no big deal. I think because she was a little older then. I hear horror stories of transitioning at 2 or 3 months.

  • @kristimh80 @Drove2u my son was in a rock and play until around 3 months and then transitioned to his crib with no issues.

  • @Drove2u @mayflower513 Good to know! With our dogs, I'm hoping not to have them in my bedroom for too long. Planning to play it all by ear and see what works best. But I do want the nursery complete...mainly because I'm OCD and would drive me crazy lol

  • @kristimh80- that is so funny he coming up with his own themes! Maybe you can each have your own Pinterest boards and compare!

@drove2u and @mayflower513- good to know about the room sleeping. We honestly haven’t thought that far ahead. I’m more about getting the nursery done since i knew this room was going to be our nursery since we moved it and it’s been empty for years. So it’s more just like finally getting to make it and splurge a little :) I told my DH I get whatever I want for the room since I waited so long. I just can’t wait to go spend time in there before and when the baby comes, even if they don’t sleep in there for a while :)

  • Hi guys - have been so nervous to make the jump over to this board because I don't want to jinx anything, but I think it might be time. Very happy to see so many familiar names on here, and looking forward to getting to know everyone :)

How far along are you? / EDD
6 weeks/ April 3 (based on the little online calculator thing, not any doctor's say so)

    How are you feeling?
Great.. just a little tired (humidity does NOT help), super hungry, nauseous at random times (especially in the car) but nothing too intense

    Any recent/upcoming appointments?
My first US is next week, 8/16. Then 8/20 for what will hopefully be my last ever follow up with my RE.

    Thoughts/Concerns?
I posted in July FET about these concerns but might as well just throw it up here to see if anyone else has experienced spotting? Brown spotting/discharge (TMI, sorry) started last week, lasted for less then a day. Has happened a couple random times since then. I literally went in for FOUR betas to make sure everything was continuing to rise, and it was. My last beta was this past Monday and it was over 11k, at 21dp5dt. I've had 2 doctors and about 5 nurses tell me it's nothing to worry about, but I'm scared to have sex..

    Questions:
When does everyone else usually "graduate" to their first OB appt? Mine is scheduled for 9/12, I would be 11 weeks then. I'm going to have to get used to appointments being spread so far apart!
  • @leilee101 congrats!! I graduate from RE at 9 weeks and I have an ob scheduled at 12 weeks 9/14
  • @leilee101 Congratulations on your BFP!! I hope all goes well and the spotting stops soon for you. I know there are others who had some brown spotting early on - hopefully they can chime in!

We waited to have sex until the 2nd trimester. Mostly bc I was exhausting all the time, but also didn't want to take any chances.

I graduated from my RE at 7 weeks 3 days and had my first OB appt at 9 weeks 6 days. Then it's been every 4 weeks since then.

@leilee101 Hi there!! So glad you decided to join us over here! I think I graduate to the OB around 12 weeks, least by the looks of my online portal. Guess will know more tomorrow when we talk to the doctor. I'm anxious about doing so. I love my RE and the nurses and don't want to leave or get offs meds lol

@mag1cbeli3ver I'm glad we aren't the only one's holding out. After everything you go thru with IF, it makes me paranoid to even chance it. Figured I was just being crazy lol

@bebesparrow Welcome to this side of things! I'm with you, my skin is a mess with little red patch areas. So glad you got to see the heartbeat! We go tomorrow and I'm anxiouis and nervous all at the same time.

  • @leilee101- congrats and welcome! I had brown spotting weeks 5-7 mainly. It was due to an SCH, and they are more common with IVF. THe only thing they reco is taking it easy and pelvic rest (no sex). So until you have your u/s i think its probably a good idea to avoid sex just in case.

@bebesparrow - seeing the heartbeat is the best! The wait is so hard. I only have to wait a week each time, so I can only imagine how hard two weeks is. Only one more week to go though, so I'm hoping it goes fast for yoU!

  • Thanks so much for the responses ladies .. glad I found my way over here, I need to stay away from the google machine

@bebesparrow yay another one from our lucky July board! Congrats on hearing the heartbeat, must be so reassuring. I think I’m gonna have to wait like a month in between! Still figuring out how all this works ..

@JamieH2000 I just had to look up what that means.. thank you! I didn’t even know that was a thing, could def explain what’s going on. I will def be holding off on sex until at least after US (much to DH’s dismay lol.. props to you @mag1cbeli3ver for going a full 13 weeks).

@kristimh80 good luck tomorrow!! Can’t wait to hear your update after ultrasound
  • welcome @leilee101 and @bebesparrow!

@leilee101 my EDD is April 2 and my first u/s is April 15, so we are on the same sched  :) My first OB appt will be Sept 17.
I had a couple of days of brown spotting and cramping very early on (while doing betas to confirm everything). I was convinced it was AF, but luckily no! I was also told it was normal but it's definitely scary when it happens.

I'm anxious to start going to the OB...I love my IVF clinic and if I could, I'd stay with them til birth lol

@scikap Brown blood is good...because it's old blood :) But I can see how that can be scary! Hopefully, it was a one time deal and you don't have to mess with it again.

  • @leilee101- yes its hard with the pelvic rest, but its been 12 weeks for me now and honestly I've been feeling so icky I wouldn't want to anyways! I had some friends who couldn't their whole pregnancy and their husbands survived :) But I hope both of us are cleared by second tri!

@kristimh80- YAYY!! seeing heartbeat is the BEST! I am glad they are seeing you back in two weeks, but I wish you could go weekly like my clinic did. Hopefully you have an understanding OB- mine has been great so far and I still have gotten extra scans.

@scikap- the brown spotting could be implantation or an SCH like alot of us have. Hopefully your ultrasound will give some more answers!

  • @JamieH2000 I know, but it's fine...after waiting forever for this one, 2 weeks feels like nothing lol My OB also did IVF at my same clinic, so I know she'll be good about extra scans if needed. I think that's why I haven't looked into a mid-wife or anything else...just knowing she's "been there" makes is so much more comforting.

@mayflower513 That makes me feel better! Even them having the "wand" there this morning made me uncomfortable. So I can't even fathom anything else! lol

  • @kristimh80 congrats on the scan!! So exciting .. did you DH come in with you? My insurance is super unique because I work for a hospital, so I need to get all my care done for it to be covered there unless the service isn’t offered. They obviously don’t do IVF so I go to my clinic, but they do blood work and ultrasound so I need to go to a radiology lab for the first scan instead of a doctors office. They said no men are allowed in the lab, so DH can’t come in. He is welcome at my first Ob appt but that isn’t for a month!
  • @leilee101 Awe that's super cool that you work for a hospital! Yes, my husband came with me this morning...I'll probably have to tell him later on her doesn't have to go to all appointments lol Least you'll get to see things. Hopefully, they will give you pictures so you can at least show him everything that's going on. At the 1st OB appt, the baby will at least look more like a baby that the 1st scan :)
