EDD? January 2nd Symptoms? A bit of ragey-ness for no real reason. Very very feisty these days. This is also TMI, but my pubic bone feels absolutely murderous. I looked it up - it's normal because it's widening itself (female bodies are bizarre!!), but I feel like I got kicked really hard right in the box. Upcoming appointments? August 8th - 20 week scan!! R/R/Q: LOVING the 2nd trimester energy and loving feeling baby kick and squirm fairly often. Anyone else feel kind of funny when baby is moving, though? I'm not sure how to explain... It's like someone is lightly drumming their fingers and my brain tries to interpret the feeling like it's illness or something; meanwhile, I'm excited cus it's baby!
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) I hope baby gets DH's patience and practicality, while somehow also inheriting my artsy dreamer disposition. I know that's more than one thing, but it would be a fascinating combination.
EDD? 1/06 Symptoms? I've had morning sickness for the last three mornings again. RLP. Some heart palpitations and shortness of breath as my body adjusts to the new blood flow. Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow is my standard OB doppler check. They'll also probably draw blood for the neural tube defect check. I'm actually pretty nervous because I'm really not feeling baby enough yet to be confident that I'm really feeling HER and not something else. And as a STM seeing most other STMs feeling baby much more, that makes me nervous.
R/R/Q: Nada. I just can't believe I'm 3 weeks from my anatomy scan. And that I need to start thinking about going back to school and prepping. I'm also starting to get excited about starting the nursery and prepping for baby - but I have a ways to go until I really need to worry about that all.
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) His playfullness and sense of humor.

@leighbrek Yes! Totally does feel like someone drumming their fingers from the inside! And yes, my brain has a hard time interpreting it right now. I have IBS so usually any weird feelings in that area mean bad things are going to happen with my intestines lol...it's going to take some time to reprogram my brain.
@BitterBetty12 Ugh, sorry you've been dealing with MS again I hope this is the last bout for you. I didn't feel DS consistently until way later than other STMs because of my anterior placenta (which I didn't know I had at the time until an urgent care doctor couldn't find his HB at 16w with the doppler and sent me to the ER for a scan...). I'm going to go ahead and say that maybe you have a super chill baby in utero which is going to translate to a super chill infant and you will have the easiest newborn ever

@tosh24 hahaha I like that (unlikely) explanation so I’ll run with it. BUT on ultrasounds she’s a wild child. Like. It took 30 minutes to get only a half decent NT measurement because she wouldn’t stop kicking off of my uterus and swimming around like it was a pool. So I’m pretty confident the combination of anterior placenta (which I’m assuming I have again), left over c section numbness, and being overweight are the true reasons.

@leighbrek ah I’m glad you’re feeling good! It is definitely a weird sensation when you start feeling baby move. I think eventually it becomes more familiar but it’s always a bit surreal! Ugh. Back to school. I go back at the end of August and I really want to be on top of my planning. But that would require me to actually start doing some work now...

Symptoms?
Some mood swings which is new and not pleasant. I *think* I may have started feeling baby, I have definitely been feeling something that isn't exactly painful but is somewhat uncomfortable that I'm having a hard time placing. Two times I felt a faint but definite little *thump* that I assume is a kick?
Upcoming appointments?
My anatomy scan is Wednesday! I have to do it a bit early at 18 weeks rather than 20 since I had traveled to a destination with Zika in the last year to make sure that everything is forming appropriately even though I tested negative for exposure. We are remaining Team Green at this point so no gender reveal but very excited to see LO for the first time since week 9!

@tosh24 Glad I'm not just crazy! Hahaha. It's like there's a disturbance in the force and my body is ready to fight it off... But then it's really just baby swimming around and having a party.
@BitterBetty12 Thank you. I hope your MS gets lost for good, because that's no fun at all. I'm sure it's not helping your feelings of demotivation!
R/R/Q: I feel pretty well rested. I had a great weekend, went to the beach yesterday, had dinner with a girlfriend while our husbands went to a car event. I was supposed to go and seriously didn't want to, at least minute her H asked to go, all of us did a happy dance lol. It was great!

I hope our son gets my husband's goofiness and intelligence. I hope he is a cute baby like I was. I hope he gets the best features from both of us.
@BitterBetty12 Thanks! I am all over the place between feeling really nervous to really excited. I have gotten somewhat paranoid about it and haven't announced on facebook until we clear this hurdle and everything still looks good. I hope you MS clears up soon and I'm right there with you on the shortness of breath
@leighbrek yes for sure with the weird feeling that I think might be baby movement. The closest I have felt to it before was when something just doesn't feel quite right and my stomach "drops" and you feel kind of butterflies but not like excited ones...more like dreadful ones ? oooooor maybe it's gas pains...I honestly don't know anymore lol
@galactickates yay for being well rested! Sounds like you are enjoying that second tri high!
EDD? January 7/ 17+0 Symptoms? Still crampy on and off. Some RLP. Nausea still in the evenings. I actually dry heaved a few times over the weekend which I haven't done in a couple of weeks. Smells are still bothering me. I have more energy though (not 100% but better)! Upcoming appointments? First OB appointment tomorrow. Nervous because we'll discuss my low placental protein results and what the plan is for additional monitoring throught the pregnancy. I'm a little worried about what that all means wrt having a healthy, full term baby. But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my OB so I'm excited to see him and be under his care again. R/R/Q: I haven't had to use the doppler in a few days because the movements really ramped up over the weekend and now I'm feeling baby multiple times a day kicking and squirming. Love it!

I love how everyone sees amazing traits in her SO. I mean, obviously you're together for a reason... But picking out these little favourite things is so wonderful.
EDD? 1/7 Symptoms? Breaking out on my chest, heartburn when I lay down to go to bed. Upcoming appointments? Phone appt with the nurse next week.
R/R/Q: Looking forward to feeling baby move. I'm a FTM so it's supposed to take longer than you STM+s apparently? DH and I started our registry over the weekend- holy moly is there a lot of stuff baby needs! I know we don't need everything on the suggested list, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes us two more trips back to the store to finish (I know we need at least one more).
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) Physically- his eyes. DH has amazing eyes. Personality- his kindness and patience
@Ghostie625 RE: FTMs taking longer to feel baby than STM, it's a lot on the fact that STMs understand and recognize what they're feeling. For FTMs it can be difficult to differentiate baby's movements from gas or a muscle tic, because the early movements do feel like little bubbles or tiny tiny bops that could easily be a muscle tic. I first noticed movements around 14 weeksish, maybe slightly later, because it was a weird concentration of bubbles low under my belly button. After feeling that, I often recognized it when it happened later. Now it feels like little drumming movements with the occasional tiny solid bop. The downside is that I can go days without feeling anything, but then one random day there will be a flurry of activity, like today.
EDD? either 1/4 or 1/8 Symptoms? feeling pretty good overall. I've been having some mood swings which are no fun, but also over quickly. My boobs have been itching like crazy. I've been feeling baby moving off and on, usually when I first lay down to go to bed. Upcoming appointments? ultrasound to check my cervix again on 8/9. And I guess also to check if the placenta has moved off my cervix yet too.
R/R/Q: tomorrow is my last day of teaching summer school and office staff and a few other people were at school today to start their work on getting next school year up and running. I kind of feel like I've missed my summer since the emails about next year have already started. But after tomorrow I technically have two weeks before I have to go to trainings or meeting.
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? I hope this baby can enjoys being spontaneous like DH. I am such a planner that sometimes its hard for me to enjoy last minute fun because I'm stressing about everything.
1/5 Symptoms? Not much this. Some RLP, I think, and minor headaches. Tiredness also, from having to get up 3-4 times a night to go to the bathroom.
I thought I was starting to feel movement last week, but didn't feel much of anything this week.
Upcoming appointments?

Physically, I hope he gets DH's height and metabolism. Personality wise, I hope he gets DH's people skills. DH is much more comfortable chatting with near strangers than I am, and could probably name at least 2-3x as many of our neighbors as I could.
@jandd2014 Teaching summer school is rough. I haven’t done it in a few years but you really do feel like you’ve missed out. Thankfully ours was always right in the beginning of the summer and lasted 5 weeks, so we would always still have another 5 left. I just never felt as well rested going into the new year.
@AshVA you totally may have been feeling things. I am 99% certain I was feeling baby girl around weeks 13-14 and then she took a break and I didn’t really feel her again until like yesterday. It’s all about positioning in these early months.

R/R/Q: DD was diagnosed with HFM disease on Friday and the rash was gone by Sunday. DH woke up Sunday pretty sore like he hurt something or had worked out but hadn't. Then he woke up on Monday and could barely move. A little boy at DD's babysitter went to the doctor Monday and was diagnosed with parvovirus (aka Fifths Disease). Reading up on it I realized DH has some of the symptoms found in adults (acheyness and fatigue). Cue to me freaking out because there was this tiny section on human parvovirus and complications in pregnancy. ***TW*** It basically said that although it is high unlikely and uncommon, if a pregnant woman contracts it then so could the baby and it could cause complications like severe anemia and could cause miscarriage or stillbirth. Of course I was freaking out even though we don't know if that's what DH has. His doctor yesterday basically said that it sounds like a virus but hard to say which one specifically since his symptoms are so ambiguous. I talked to my doctor this morning and they said that it is extremely unlikely that me or the baby would catch this and even if I caught it, it is very unlikely the baby would get it, and even if the baby caught it, it is uncommon for there to be complications. Basically, the internet and Dr. Google is scary and always check with your doctor before bursting into tears.***End TW***
I have felt the baby move for about a week or so. It is sporadic and very light but it's nice to have those little flutters again.
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol). I hope the baby will be laid back and easy going like DH. I also hope they will have his go with the flow attitude and positive outlook. Physically, I hope it gets his skin and teeth. Lol. He has such good skin, no acne and pretty color. Also, he never had to have braces and I did.
@emmaaa Yikes! Dr. Google is super scary. We’ve been avoiding my DHs whole family because my twin nephews had HFM and I have a friend who’s baby likely developed complications from it when in utero (she was in first tri though). I went for better safe than sorry and we’ve just kind of avoided contact (though TBH I’m not on the best terms with my in laws so the extended avoidance may not have everything to do with HFM). I did mention it to my OB today and she said that parvo is more dangerous than coxsackie BUT neither are likely to actually cause complications. So I guess that’s why we need OBs (among many other things) instead of Dr. google.

EDD? 1/2/19 Symptoms? Shortness of breath, have to pee all the time, still some fatigue Upcoming appointments? Just had one today, anatomy scan on 8/14, I'm so excited!
R/R/Q: I had a horrible first labor experience that ended in emergency c-section after a long labor and a lot of pushing and DS big head was stuck. My old OB told me I wasn't a good candidate for VBAC so I didn't really think about it. My current OB didn't discourage it, but she very much brushed over it. Lately I've been thinking that maybe I should go that route? I'm really afraid to go through a long labor ended in emergency c-section again, especially because my son ended up in the NICU with low blood sugar last time. But I also feel like maybe it's worth a try. How do I decide between VBAC or RCS?
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) DS has my husband's huge blue eyes and long eyelashes and they're so gorgeous! I hope LO has those eyes too. Also, he's super smart.
@emmaaa oh man, nothing like the interwebs to send you spiraling. I hadn't really thought about teeth before but both DH and I had some serious braces...guess I'll start saving now for poor LO's likely future orthodontia...
@Blonde1817 I feel like if you want a VBAC you need an OB who really discusses it with you and is on board to help you through the process. I would ask your OB about it again next time and if she doesn’t really give you good info I would consider switching. My OB practice doesn’t do VBAC and I am a bad candidate for it anyway, so I know I’m going for RCS.

@emmaaa I truly don't say this to scare you but just so you can make informed decisions. Two years ago I caught parvovirus from DS. I had no idea what was going on because he was not obviously sick yet, but for 3 weeks I had extreme fatigue and whole body viral arthritis that made it impossible to bend my joints. I was home from work for one of those weeks because I couldn't even walk. My doctor tested me for everything under the sun and then just told me I was having a viral reaction, same as your DH. Then, a couple weeks later both DS and I woke up with the slapped cheek rash on our faces and I knew immediately what it was. Unfortunately, I was pregnant at the time and the parvo caused me to miscarry. It's only "unlikely" that adults can contract parvovirus if you've had it before as a child, which generally a lot of people have. But I hadn't. I'd ask your mom/ family if I were you to see if they remember if you had parvo as a kid. Then, I'd get your doctor to test DH. There's no test that will tell you if you are sick with parvo at that exact moment, but there IS an antibody test that can be done to see if you've had a recent infection. I had it done and it came up positive. I'd keep your distance until you get some more info.

@BitterBetty12 It's so scary dealing with illness while pregnant. I'm not usually one to think anything of being sick or getting sick. DD had HFM (I think, never diagnosed), about a month ago and when I was at my OB appointment and brought it up, she again kind of brushed it off and said it's unlikely for me or the baby to get it and I really need to worry about high fevers. The possibility of the complications is what worries me knowing that parvo can be more serious. I was really hoping they would ask me to come in this week because my next appointment is still two weeks away
@tosh24 I will definitely ask my mom if I ever had it as a child. I will also see where we can get DH in to be tested. Do you mind me asking how far along you were?
EDD? 1/3 Symptoms? Still having dry heaves most mornings. Woke up feeling like garbage, can't tell if getting sick or just pregnancy... ::Insert thinking velociraptor here:: Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow we have our monthly OB visit and 20 week scan on 8/16!
R/R/Q: I am SO cranky lately. I think it's because I'm not getting a good night's sleep. Between waking up to pee and my hips hurting, it's just miserable. GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) I'm hoping he inherits DH's musical abilities.
@leighbrek I laughed SO hard at "kicked in the box." I'm sorry you're in pain, but A+ for that description.
@Ghostie625 We are doing our registry through Amazon. We started it a few weeks ago and have it set on private. That way we can just go add things a little at a time. Otherwise it's far too overwhelming for both me and DH. They are also sending me a welcome box as we speak, so I'm pretty excited to see what's in that. After we get the registry more complete, I'm going to share the link with a few moms I know to see if I'm missing anything/have anything stupid on there. I'm a minimalist so I'm trying to choose items wisely. Everytime someone tells me they have bought me something for the baby (and no one has my registry yet) I have a wave of dread wash over me. I get that they are trying to be nice and thoughtful, but stuff stresses me out!

Personality-wise I hope he gets my husband's patience but my attention to detail and ability to actually listen and remember things.
@emmaaa I was supposed to be just over 10 weeks but baby was only measuring 9 weeks because parvovorus slows growth and organ development. From what I remember reading at the time, once you're into second tri it's not so much a risk of miscarriage but the issue of fetal hydrops that's a concern.

Just got back from my anatomy scan, everything looks pretty good! The baby is a little small but nothing too concerning yet. My placenta is covering my cervix so I have to go back in 10 weeks for another ultrasound to see if it moves back. All other indicators are "normal" or healthy which was a relief to hear since I opted out of the NIPT or any genetic testing. Though I was super tempted, we held strong and remained team green Our little bean was all curled up and doing a headstand so that in addition to the fact that my uterus is tilted backward still, the ultrasound tech had a really hard time getting images lol Such a relief to see that little heart beating away and tiny body squirming around!
EDD? 1/4/19 Symptoms? Braxton hicks, weird baby wiggles that make me nauseous, and peeing every three seconds. Upcoming appointments? Yesterday morning. This child was transverse at the very top of my uterus and we couldn't find a heartbeat with the doppler so I got sent to ultrasound. Baby is fine, she just had to hold the wand in the most uncomfortable way to find him because his position was so weird. And we found out it's a boy! It was pretty unmistakable. She didn't even have to tell me, the penis was pretty obvious. Lol I go back in 2.5 weeks for the anatomy scan. I can't believe we're almost halfway!!
R/R/Q: dressed are amazing. I want to wear nothing but dresses for the next 22 or so weeks. Won't happen cause it's gonna get cold here, but then I'll switch to leggings. Lol
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) I dont know. He'll be who he is, and that'll be perfect.
EDD? 1/5/19 Symptoms? RLP. Back aches after sitting at my desk all day. Something funny feeling that may be the baby? So hard to tell. Overall I'm feeling really good. My appetite seems back to mostly normal which also means I REALLY MISS WINE Upcoming appointments? regular checkup this upcoming Friday, anatomy ultrasound 8/22
R/R/Q: Rant: see wine comment above Rave: I feel like I might be actually starting to look pregnant instead of just chunky. Ordered a cute maternity dress from Old Navy and it makes me feel more confident about my new shape!
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) his curiosity, his determination, his dance skills
Re: Weekly Ticker Change: EDD January 1-7 (W/O 7/30)
January 2nd
Symptoms?
A bit of ragey-ness for no real reason. Very very feisty these days. This is also TMI, but my pubic bone feels absolutely murderous. I looked it up - it's normal because it's widening itself (female bodies are bizarre!!), but I feel like I got kicked really hard right in the box.
Upcoming appointments?
August 8th - 20 week scan!!
R/R/Q:
LOVING the 2nd trimester energy and loving feeling baby kick and squirm fairly often.
(I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)
I hope baby gets DH's patience and practicality, while somehow also inheriting my artsy dreamer disposition. I know that's more than one thing, but it would be a fascinating combination.
Symptoms?
(I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)
His playfullness and sense of humor.

January 2nd
R/R/Q:
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)

@leighbrek yes for sure with the weird feeling that I think might be baby movement. The closest I have felt to it before was when something just doesn't feel quite right and my stomach "drops" and you feel kind of butterflies but not like excited ones...more like dreadful ones ?
@galactickates yay for being well rested! Sounds like you are enjoying that second tri high!
January 7/ 17+0
Symptoms?
R/R/Q:
I haven't had to use the doppler in a few days because the movements really ramped up over the weekend and now I'm feeling baby multiple times a day kicking and squirming. Love it!
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)

My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019
Symptoms? Breaking out on my chest, heartburn when I lay down to go to bed.
Upcoming appointments? Phone appt with the nurse next week.
R/R/Q:
Looking forward to feeling baby move.
(I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)
Physically- his eyes. DH has amazing eyes.
Personality- his kindness and patience
The downside is that I can go days without feeling anything, but then one random day there will be a flurry of activity, like today.
Symptoms? feeling pretty good overall.
DD- 11/2016
1/5
Symptoms?
Not much this. Some RLP, I think, and minor headaches. Tiredness also, from having to get up 3-4 times a night to go to the bathroom.
I thought I was starting to feel movement last week, but didn't feel much of anything this week.
Upcoming appointments?
AS on 8/15
R/R/Q:
Rant: I'm so over the constant bathroom breaks and not being able to sleep through the night.
Rave: Maternity clothes are the best. Why can't all clothes feel like pajamas?
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol)
Physically, I hope he gets DH's height and metabolism. Personality wise, I hope he gets DH's people skills. DH is much more comfortable chatting with near strangers than I am, and could probably name at least 2-3x as many of our neighbors as I could.
@AshVA you totally may have been feeling things. I am 99% certain I was feeling baby girl around weeks 13-14 and then she took a break and I didn’t really feel her again until like yesterday. It’s all about positioning in these early months.

Symptoms? Starting to get some pretty awesome pregnancy dreams, and burping as I’ve never burped before
Upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan in about 2 weeks!
R/R/Q: Had a great weekend - saw friend’s new house, tons of fun at a paella making class with the spouse, and cuddling on the couch. Now trying to get back into the work grind and it is so hard.
GTKY: What is one trait you hope your child will inherit from you or SO-- physically/personality/other? (I'm basically straling all of these from other threads lol) Tons. Physically, DH’s eyelashes and athleticism; personality, his creativity and joy; other, my intelligence and strength. I’d be happy if she got half this list
Symptoms? Headaches usually at night before bed and random nausea.
Upcoming appointments? A/S and appointment on August 16

Symptoms? Still having dry heaves most mornings. Woke up feeling like garbage, can't tell if getting sick or just pregnancy... ::Insert thinking velociraptor here::
Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow we have our monthly OB visit and 20 week scan on 8/16!
R/R/Q: I am SO cranky lately. I think it's because I'm not getting a good night's sleep. Between waking up to pee and my hips hurting, it's just miserable. I want to sleep in some weightless pod thing where I'm suspended and I can't hear any of the city noise. Today it was the garbage truck waking me up at 5:15am.
@tosh24 I hope your appointment today went well!!
@emmaaa I hope your household is healthy soon!

Symptoms?
For the most part I've been feeling pretty good. Indigestion has eased up. I'm just sooo swollen

A little rave about our new car. I've been driving a hand me down station wagon from my mom for about 10 years. We got a totally bare bones subaru impreza but it feels so fancy compared to a 2005 model!

Physically I hope he has my husband's blue eyes and tan skin. I burn the second I look at the sun and would love to NOT pass that on to my child. Personality-wise I hope he gets my husband's patience but my attention to detail and ability to actually listen and remember things.
