Ergo sport vs. regular

Hi ladies,

I'm planning to get an ergo carrier, but couldn't really find any information comparing the regular ergo and the sport version. I know the sport's straps (arm and waist) expand more, but is that it? I'm 5'5" and DH is 6'2". What would you suggest? TIA!

  • My DH is 6'2" and I got the Ergo sport.  For what I read it looked like it would be more comfortable for him, while still fitting me (5'5").  There was a comparison chart on a website, but I can't seem to find it for you right now. = (    6'2" might be able to get away with a regular one, but it sounded like it's kind of the cutoff for comfortable height.
  • I wondered the same thing so I went to the store to check them out in person.

They told me that the only difference was the fabric and that the sport version expands more (ie for a male). The fabric on the sport is a soft cotton and the fabric on the regular is a canvas-like material. I preferred the look and feel of the sport, so I went with that one.

  • I was deciding between the two as well. From what I understand, the Ergo sport is made of a more breathable material suitable for hot climate and longer straps. It also does not have a pocket that the regular Ergo has (for a small wallet or cell phone). I decided to get the regular Ergo b/c I found a really good deal for it and I think me being 5'3" the extra lenth on the straps of the Ergo sport would really annoy me.
  • I want one that has the small pocket for wallet/keys/cell phone etc.  I am just going to have to try them out in person.

  • I purchased the sport one also... but haven't used yet.
