My mom is in town for a few days to spend time with DS before baby comes. We went to Legoland yesterday and today we started painting the nursery. DS asked to help paint a couple pics in spoiler.
@MojieJo Yikes! Menswear is so expensive, but thankfully it lasts a long time. Will he have to wear suits every day? @middleschoolmommy So fun! What color are you painting the room? It's hard to tell if it's purple or gray from the pic.
@offtoneverland I know, it's ridiculous! I thought it was bad buying professional clothes as a woman.
Thankfully he only has to wear one once or twice a month. The rest of the time he wears dress pants and a button-down shirt and tie, which he has plenty of.
@offtoneverland - nothing really fun planned. DH is working on replacing a broken AC and replacing the towel holders in the bathrooms. We decided we didn't like the ones that the house came with. I'm just cleaning out things from our baby's future nursery.
We started setting up baby’s nursery this weekend! Yesterday we put together the crib and dresser/changing table combo and today DH and a close friend built a custom book case for baby. Now I just need to find some additional decor for the poor bare walls. I was so surprised how tired and sore I was after helping put together the crib and dresser/changing table. My back and hips were killing me before we even finished and messed with my sleep last night. I left all of the book case building today to DH and the friend he have visiting this week. I was so excited putting this stuff together this weekend and getting things out of boxes and more organized. The guys are still teasing me about nesting haha I put some pictures in the spoiler of our progress.
@rosebud1230 - your nursery is looking great!! Love it! Your welcome to my crib sign is so cute and that custom book shelf is amazing. I can't wait for mine to start looking like a nursery
@mojiejo glad you were able to find a sale, but eek that’s expensive! It will last a while though, so that’s good.
@rosebud1230 great job nursery prepping! So exciting seeing it all come together.
I was exhausted today, moreso than I have been in months. I think baby must be having a big growth spurt and is tired too because there hasn’t been a whole lot of action in my tummy today. Checked heartbeat on my monitor and everything sounds ok. I’m so ready for bed though. We had a nice day swimming at home and making a few decisions for our new house. Hopefully I’ll have more energy tomorrow.
@offtoneverland that wall is purple (along with the ceiling) the other walls are grey. I'm so happy I'm finally able to get rid of the "baby poop yellow" color! Lol
@rosebud1230 - your nursery is adorable! I'm having such a hard time deciding on how to decorate the nursery with being team green.
We're not up to much this weekend. Trying to do some organizing/purging before the movers come in a week and a half, but DS has a cold so I spent some time cuddling with him watching a movie. DH is leaving again tomorrow afternoon for a couple days of travel/work then we're driving out of state to the new house to sign DS up for preschool and walk through the house one last time. I'm exhausted, which I'm sure some is pregnancy and stress related, but my hemoglobin/hematocrit were low at my appointment this week so I'm hoping taking iron will help. I ate the same thing for supper tonight as I did last night and my sugar was 40mg/dl higher. WTF body?

@rosebud1230 your nursery is looking amazing!! DS actually has a giraffe like that, he named it gigi and loves to now climb on its back and tip over sideways
Friday night after nap time we took DD to Menchie’s, which we thought she’d love. It was of course a disaster. She had little interest in any of it and instead wanted to run all around the store, including behind the counter. We left pretty quickly and she screamed the entire drive home and for the rest of the evening. I just sat in the front seat with tears streaming down my face. Toddlers can be the worst.
Saturday I got to have lunch sans toddler with my best friend who lives out of state. It was so nice to catch up and enjoy a meal without wrangling a toddler!
Today DH is hopefully pressure washing the house and I’m going to finish up some stuff inside, body permitting.
@MouseMama817 I dislike dining out with my toddler. Im so worried that he will be an annoyance to other people in the restaurant. My husband handles it way better then i do when my toddler acts out in public, and doesn’t seem to think it’s a big deal. Every weekend he takes my nearly two year old out for pancakes and i almost always stay behind so I can lay around in bed and have a cup of coffee in peace.
@BabyBoyH92016 I would love to be able to wake up slowly like that, even just once a week. DH is way braver than I am with taking her out on his own. She is wild and fearless and most of the time we spend our outings literally chasing her. It’s exhausting. What made the yogurt outting worse was that there were only 3 other people there but they were all staring at us pretty openly. It was so uncomfortable. She wasn’t tantruming or even whining, she just wouldn’t sit in one spot but I guess that was enough to disturb people.
@MouseMama817 Ugh I have the same exact situation. My son is super active and wants to run everywhere. It’s exhausting. I even broke down when he was 18months and would randomly just sprint into the street and got one of those toddler leash/harness things. I joke with my husband that he will get a track scholarship for college and at least we won’t have to pay for school.
@MouseMama817 oh I’m sorry you guys hd a rough night out. DD is 4 and still struggles here and there with eating out in a restaurant sometimes. She had my laying in bed crying this morning because I lost my temper with her after the 5th time she got out of her bed, all before 7 am. I yelled at her pretty harshly and I don’t feel good about it. I don’t know why she has been struggling so much with staying in her bed but it’s been every single night, AT LEAST twice. I’m at a loss because Ive tried literally every tactic and nothing is working. I just want my good sleeper baaaacccck!!
@BabyBoyH92016 I am honestly thisclose to buying one of those for DD. I have always thought they were ridiculous but I really see the use for them now.
@pink_polkadots Ugh. It is viscerally hard when your kids don’t sleep. I’m going to devote myself to you for the entire day, can we not start at 5am? I’m sorry. I’m so nervous about taking the doorknob thing off of DD’s door because I just don’t want to deal with the not staying in bed. It seems as soon as we get in a good sleeping pattern it’s time for another milestone that sets us back. I hope your little girl moves past this soon!
Catching up after the big wedding weekend! I have shared before one of my best friends was getting married and it was Saturday - this is the dress you ladies all helped me manage to make work.
I have never been so exhausted in my life. A high-maintenance bride, waking up at 6:30 am to do hair and makeup...I can’t wait to get home and go to bed tonight.
@firsttimespartanmom Congrats on getting through it!! I was a bridesmaid in my brothers wedding while 6 months pregnant and it was probably the last thing I wanted to be doing lol. Can we see how the dress turned out?
@firsttimespartanmom Being a bridesmaid can be exhausting enough when you’re not pregnant! Props to you for being there for the bride and being the best ‘maid you could! Get some well-deserved rest!!
I went to get a prenatal massage yesterday, the massage therapist talked the ENTIRE time. All about her family drama, sister getting a divorce, a hole ex husband. She didn’t even touch my feet, neck or shoulders. Just pushed on some pressure points in my back. I was so confused. Not relaxing at all. Definitely trying a different place next time! Lol
@emjohn517 Yikes! I would complain to the management about that too, and I hardly every do things like that. It's terrible to waste your money on a service that you didn't get though.
@emjohn517 Sheesh, some people just don't have common sense! Why would she think you'd want to hear all that while getting a massage?! People get massages to relax and de-stress, not hear other people's problems. Jeez! Sorry you had a poor experience.
@emjohn517 I would also report that experience to management! Who does that during a massage?!?
I just don’t think I can Monday today, haha. I feel exhausted and burnt out and need a vacation SO badly. I’ve been at my job 2 years, and other than a couple 3-day weekends last summer, we haven’t taken one since all of my PTO has gone to the kids being sick/myself being sick due to the kids, and then once I found out I was pregnant, I started saving PTO for “maternity leave” - I use that term lightly, lol. The past 7 months have been especially stressful af work, and I think I hit my breaking point about 2 months ago, but not much I can do about it....
@emjohn517 heck to the no! I would NOT be a happy camper. How rude I hope they refund you.
@runningyogimama I hope you can find some time to relax and decompress soon! Who was is that mentioned recently about being unable to give anything if you're own tank/cup is empty? Take care of yourself!

@emjohn517 so glad you are saying something! That is not ok. Hopefully they offer to either refund you or give you a free massage with someone who knows better.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I get downtime on the weekends (I’m an introvert and priorize it), but I just really feel like I need an actual vacation/longer break than just two days. It’s mostly work I feel burnt out from, weekends are fine, even when my kids are being crazy. But with already getting less pay from short term disability than I anticipated due to a misunderstanding, I can’t even afford to take a 3 day weekend since I need to save my PTO for after the baby is born (and then don’t get me started on how terrified I’ll be next year when I start from 0 hours PTO with a newborn...). So...I feel stuck. I don’t feel like I have any choice. It’s incredibly frustrating, but I know I will very much need to max out my time off after baby is born because I do not do the newborn phase very well!
