July Appointments

Re: July Appointments

  • @leighbrek that's strange she doesn't think it's important. I would say it's mostly beneficial in case there's significant weight gain or loss, which can indicate issues.

I have an ultrasound on Friday to check out baby again :) since we were in a zika zone in February they want to monitor the baby, but we had no bites or symptoms, so they arent even concerned enough to do a blood test. We will get to confirm the sex of the baby!!!!! That'll be fun :)

  • @sweetyjenj I’m glad they don’t seem too concerned— I hope you aren’t either. When we were TTC#1, I skipped a wedding in PR, but at the time there were no restrictions on the male half of the couple. So H still went. Then we got our BFP the cycle after he got back, and they promptly changed the recommendations the next month. He didn’t know if he’d been bitten or not somehow (#man). So I had to do extra scans, etc. Anyway, I guess I’m saying that I’ve been through some of that, and you can feel free to PM me if you ever want to chat about it/vent some feels.

  • @mrsdho11 wow that would be worrisome if he didn't know if he was bit or not! We both were careful when there and used bug spray in the evening, then also checked ourselves every night for bites. No bites, no symptoms, and I guess the CDC said it isn't as big a threat anymore. There hasn't been a single case of Zika originating in the US this year, and where we were it wasn't a major zone. I'm not concerned if they're not even concerned enough to test. You'd think a simple blood test would be easier and cheaper than monthly ultrasounds, but I'm not complaining ;)

  • @leighbrek that's interesting.  I get a weigh-in at every appt.  And I was coming here to comment anyway regarding weight.  I went for my 16week checkup today and still haven't gained any weight!  I mean I guess I've been eating less and burning more calories for baby, but I thought I'd go up at least 1-2lbs.  I am definitely feeling rounder so things are growing!

Anyone else getting further along and still not gaining yet?

My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

  • @rooonilwaazlib Same here.  My weight is fluctuating in about a 2lb range, but I've actually lost a little weight since the beginning of pregnancy.  The weirdest thing about the fluctuations is that it doesn't seem to bear any relation whatsoever to what I've been eating the few days prior.

I was rather "fluffy" before getting pregnant, and was really worried about gaining too much weight during pregnancy.  My OB only wants me to gain 11-15 lbs total, so I think no gain to date is a good sign.

@rooonilwaazlib I haven't gained any either. With my first pregnancy, I didn't gain weight the whole time because I had needed to lose weight prior to getting pregnant. Without trying or anything by any means, I lost about 10-12 lbs my first and early second tri, then slowly gained about 7 lbs back by the time I gave birth. This time, I am at a better weight and will gain weight I'm sure. My doctor said they won't worry until I'm further along though.

  • @rooonilwaazlib I haven’t gained yet, I’ve actually lost a couple pounds (almost 14 weeks). Last time I didn’t start gaining weight until around halfway and then all the sudden I started gaining pretty fast. I ended up gaining 25 pounds.

  • @rooonilwaazlib im glad you asked this i've been curious about others weight gain.  Im 16+1 and 2 of the 6 lbs i've gained has been in the last two weeks.  Im hoping that slows down.
  • it's like you're all psychic @rooonilwaazlib! And everyone else :) So despite complaining about weight gain a few weeks ago, I haven't gained any since, and have lost a couple of lbs (I was already overweight, so NBD). I'd gained 6 and now am down to 4 and holding for the past several weeks. Of COURSE this makes me worry (FTM) but sounds like it's par for the course!

  • Yeah I think it’s pretty common not to have gained weight by this point! I gained the majority of my weight with DD in late second tri and then it stabilized.

This time seems to mirror last time for me. I’m down a couple of pounds overall. So I’m expecting I’ll gain 10-15 in the next few months. My situation is a little different though because I’m overweight and my OB gave me the ok to follow weight watchers once I was feeling good enough. So we’ll see.

  • I also haven't really gained any weight at 13 wks.. but my belly is still bloated and starting to show, so I'm always shocked at what the scale says..
  • Gosh. I've gained around 8 lbs! 17 weeks tomorrow. Mind you I was pretty small before the whole pregnancy thing, and the first OB I saw told me to gain a few lbs... But maybe I took that a bit too much to heart.
  • @Mandamay1414 @BitterBetty12 @wkuandrea @pttomato @AshVA @emmaaa Glad we're all on the same page of mild confusion.  I was a size 18 to begin with so I am sure I have a bit more time to go before I gain.  I guess I've lost a few lbs from not eating much, and generally eating healthier due to food aversions.  So it all seems to factor in.  I just associate bigger with heavier.

Thanks for the input all! Happy, appropriate weight gains for one and all!

  • Had my second appointment last week. Got to hear tbe heartbeat. Everything went well. Had to another round of blood work due to some hearr problems but got a call back today that everything came back normal so my next step is yo wear a heart montior to try and determine ehats going on. Im jot to concerned but since i didnt have any heart problems with my previous two pregnancies my OB wants to rule anything major out.

I have my next appointment scheduled for the second week in August and will have anatomy scan then. I am in the process of switching doctors and hospital though because im just not happy and wasnt halpy with the care my last 2 pregnancies. So hopefully the transfer all goes good.
  • @leighbrek I'm right there with you. 16+ 1 and I've gained 8.5 lbs.
  • @rooonilwaazlib I think starting weight has a lot to do with it. In my pregnancy with DD I lost 7 pounds in first tri and then gained 19, and then lost 4 at the end of third tri. Overall I was only up 11 pounds from my starting weight when I gave birth. But that’s because I had actually lost fat weight while pregnant and went home from the hospital 20 pounds lighter than when I had gotten pregnant. I think people who start at more normal weights and sizes tend to gain more because their body needs to store fat wheras heavier people have enough to spare already! Which is why my OB is ok with me losing. She said baby will get what she needs from me no matter what and as long as I’m not letting myself go hungry than I’ll be ok.

    That eases my mind. Thanks!

I have my 15 week appt on Friday. My OB said were going to do the quad screen at this appt but I really want to do Harmony test. I need to bring my blood pressure monitor because its acting all weird and I want to make sure I'm using this new one correctly.
  • I had an OB appointment this morning.  It was just a quick check up, but such a relief to hear the heartbeat again. It's ridiculous how I can go weeks being fine, then psych myself out with worry the week before an appointment.

I got the referral for the anatomy scan today, and will try to schedule that for the week of 8/13.

  • Had an appointment today for a cervix check (16+2). Cervix is a good length at 4.6 cm but I have partial placenta previa. So I’m on pelvic rest for now. I go back in two weeks to check on it again. The doctor said not to worry about it for now and that it will probably move on it’s own as my belly grows.
But of course now I’m worried about my cervix opening too soon again AND the placenta not moving. Ugh anxiety!
