@runsomewhere with my inductions I went in the night before for cervadil and needed nothing else, but the next step would have been misoprostol then pitocin. This new hospital they do misoprostol first, then I'm guessing pitocin. Dunno why they don't do cervadil.
@canucklehead123 that has always been the story for me too! So annoying to have them check and have no progress, even though I know it doesn't mean much.
@runsomewhere I was induced with my DS4. I had been 1cm dilated starting at 36 weeks but no changes since then. I started pitocin around 8AM. Doctor broke my water around 12:30PM when I was about 4cm. I was fully dilated and started pushing around 5:30PM. DS was born just before 8PM.
@runsomewhere good luck tomorrow! You can check out my birth story for an overly detailed induction story ha ha but here’s the cliff notes: Cytotec at 7 pm, took 3 oral doses over 12 hours. Took a break for a couple hours and started pitocin. We would’ve tried breaking my water but I wasn’t dilated enough. It broke on its own after 12 hours on pitocon and baby came 7 hours after that.
@runsomewhere thinking happy labor thoughts for you for tomorrow!
My OB suggested/recommended laying on my side to help things move along. Has anyone else heard of this? I know its said laying on the left side is the best throughout pregnancy however at this stage in the game, its uncomfortable putting pressure on my sides, especially because babys head and shoulders are deep in my pelvis...just curious if this has helped anyone at this point?
@zombiehoohaa while I was laboring they had me staying completely still to stall it until my husband got there. As soon as he got there they turned me on my left side and put my leg in a stirrup and I dilated from 6 cm to 9 cm in 5 minutes.
@zombiehoohaa I was lying on my left side when my water broke - it happened right as my doula was propping some pillows between my legs. Prob would have happened anyway but I think the point is getting into a position that allows your hips to open, so definitely try something between your legs like pillows or a small exercise ball. Sitting upright is also good to help baby drop, and sitting with your feet together is also good to open your pelvis.
Chillin at the docs office now. Was super crampy all morning but then totally stopped around 2, since 4 though I've been having contractions with low level pain 7-8 minutes apart...they went down to 4-5 but are back up. This is just a scheduled appointment but might turn into something more!!
Thank you again ladies for sharing your experience. With DD I was on pitocin for almost 24 hours before she was born. I felt absolutely nothing for the first 12 hours. While I consider that labor and delivery to be fine, I kind of want a different approach this time.
Thank you for the kind wishes for tomorrow, I'm definitely ready but nervous. It will be 1 full week since my last cervical check but I still haven't felt a single contraction. I feel like my body doesn't know how to get this started. I feel annoying saying this but nothing hurts, nothing is happening and I'm actually feeling pretty good and comfortable.
I'm going to try the lying on my side thing just in case though.
@kbernal2021 and @zande2016 thank you for the explanation! Totally makes sense now. I've been laying on my left side with my pregnancy pillow and another small pillow between my legs. Fx to this helping!
@runsomewhere Good luck with your induction tomorrow! My appointment is at 2pm. I'll be thinking of you as I will be going through my induction too! May yours be fast, easy, and smooth!!
@babygagnon2018 I'm AMA (43) and my doctor simply said on a few occasions "nothing good happens after 40 weeks after 35 years old."
The plan is Cervadil first, wait overnight, pitocin in the morning, then water breaking, then C section if necessary. Ugh. Hopefully we don't need to go through all that!
AFM, they let me leave the doc having contractions, which makes sense I was only 1cm and 50% effaced, and I know they wouldn't keep me if I'd come in and that was all I was dilated. Things have died down a bit since I've been home but I've had some spotting and I'm bouncing on my ball in hopes that something gets going. If not, I guess I've experienced some things that other people who actually go into labor experience, lol: I had timeable, mildly painful contractions, I dilated before I went in for induction ( I've never been checked this early before, but I've never been dilated at 40 weeks), I've experienced the annoying stop and go of early labor. So even if I end up having to be induced I have that!
The doc told me to call if I had bleeding-that means more than spotting right? I know spotitng is normal after a cervical check.
@smashajm I’m not too sure about the bleeding, I only ever had it after my water already broke, but even then it wasn’t much...just a glob or bloody mucus here and there. But I think some have actual bleeding? Regardless I hope this is it and you go into labor soon!
I feel ok @runsomewhere thank you., wish my cold was gone but it's much better. I just keep telling myself soon it will all be over and I will have my baby. How are you doing? What time do u go In?
I'm at the hospital, I have the foley balloon inserted and pitocin just started. Feeling anxious and sad. I feel like I have such a long way to go before baby is here, it's really discouraging.
@runsomewhere I hope your induction flies by! Baby will be here before you know it and it'll all be worth it. Do you have anything you can distract yourself with, like movies or trashy tv?
Afm...woke up to cramping. Now seeing mucusy bloody discharge when I wipe. Did get a bright pink last time I wiped. Been having mild contraction however still not timeable. Feel like I have to poop...ugh
I'm due in 2 days (the 21st) went to the dr yesterday and all the cramping and back pain got me nowhere. He said he will let me go 41 weeks before we discuss anything and 42 weeks before he makes DS come out. I was completely devistated leaving the dr. Now I am just waiting. 1cm and 50% effaced and dr said he is still very high up. Praying labor comes soon and when DH is home. Good luck to everyone who is at the hospital today, praying your deliveries go very smoothly.
@runsomewhere I completely identify with how you’re feeling. I felt the same way when I was being induced. Maybe see if the nurses have any board games or cards you can play with your H. Good luck!
runsomewhere maybe things will escalate quickly! If not, start watching Code Black (if you're into medical drama's) love that show!, it's on CBS. zombiehoohaa good signs, hoping this is it for you! stephfaye0908 the 21st is my birthday, maybe its lucky #21! I know exactly how you feel because thats how I left my doctors appointment on Tuesday. I just keep telling myself that things can progress from 0-60 super quick sometimes. Don't lose hope, the end is near!
Thank you for the well wishes guys. Pitocin is at a 6 and I still have the balloon. I’ve been curled up on my side kind of half napping. The nurse kept asking about my pain level and said contractions are getting more regular. I’m not in any real pain but gassy with a ton of pressure in my butt. Wtf?! I’ve heard of back labor but it’s like I’m having butt labor. I’m most comfortable just laying on my side so I’ll be here curled up till I need the epidural.
I really did not want to be induced again but my doctor just scheduled one for me and I could not be happier. It isn't until the 27th, which is 3 days past my due date. She really hopes he will come before that, as do I. Seriously GTFO baby. I am 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced and have been having contractions all week. I am just really happy to have an end date in sight as the nightly cramping and contractions are getting old.
Good Luck @runsomewhere sounds like your farther than me so far... wishing you the best and comfort!! I'm just here waiting for something to start. Nice room, watching tv just ate my last meal for a while. So far like a hotel stay, lol, wish they'd get the show on the road. Thanks for the well wishes guys. Good Luck @zombiehoohaa sounds like your body is getting in gear!!!
I've been having lower back contractions every 6-10 minutes for over 3 hours. Each lasts anywhere between 30-70 seconds. Called l & d just to be told contractions need to be 3-5 minutes apart for an hour straight, lasting 60 seconds each time. I've got more bloody mucus discharge as well...please let this be it, please!?!?! Shit is painful however if this means lo is almost here, bring it on!!!
@runsomewhere@zombiehoohaa yey!! Good luck good luck!!! Things are happening for you guys!!! I just had the cervadil inserted a half hour ago. So now we wait here. Thinking of you guys.
Well I doubt you'll read my birth announcement in the morning! Lol. 6 hours of Cervadil and no process so far! Hopefully @runsomewhere and @zombiehoohaa you guys are almost done!!

Welllll I guess this was a premature post lol
babybakie good luck!!! (you too runsomewhere) I know girl, my fear is going over and nothing working! Hopefully it will go smoothly for (both) of you!
