Re: TTGP Check In 7/19

  • My doctor finally go back to me yesterday afternoon and prescribed progesterone supplements. So, what would have been a lazy afternoon (DS is at my mom's!) turned into me running to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription before it closed...  But so glad she finally responded and it helps me to feel like I'm actually doing something.
  • Loading the player...
  • Had my HCG blood draw on Tuesday, but the results weren’t in yesterday so I will call this morning. I know one beta number doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but hoping for some reassurance with a number high enough for them to schedule my appointments!

Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good. Just a few symptoms. Nothing major so far! I am going to try to go into my classroom today and get things done. I am afraid morning sickness might set in a couple of weeks and it will be hard to do those things.
  • @LelkCot yay! I bet that's a relief. One less thing to worry about. It's a bummer it interfered with your lazy afternoon though.

AFM just trotting along. I have a feeling I'm going to out myself tonight at a farewell dinner I'm going to. Oh well, it's going to happen sooner or later.

  • @purpleteacher82 fx for great beta results, let us know!
@meggyme thanks - it really is such a relief! And best of luck with the farewell dinner - I'm not great at secrets either!
  • I've been spoiled by how active the TTGP board is. This board moves soooo slow until the evening, especially in the morning when I'm bored at work.

  • @meggyme :D I'm right there with you! I'm in the midst of transitioning jobs and things are super slow, so I've been on here lurking a ton!
  • @Lelkcot What kind of job are you transitioning from/to? After I'm ready to tell work I'll probably have to transition to something different. My current job has me working onboard the ships and I won't be able to do that for very long. I'm already panting when I go up and down the stairs. I just don't know what they have available for me instead.

  • @meggyme I run marketing programs (part-time) for a telemedicine company, which was acquired back in May, so my current job is ending at the end of the month. Will actually be going back to my last company to help run marketing programs (still part-time) and they are a compliance software company. I am actually putting in a few hours for the new job before the end of the month though.

@Lelkcot That's cool! It must have been a pretty good company if you're going back. Will they maintain your previous seniority or will you have to start over (for any benefits that increase with time).
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • @meggyme I'm actually coming back a a contractor, which I am not thrilled about, so no benefits. But it was a pretty good company, and I really like my boss there, so that makes a huge difference! I feel like working on ships sound pretty awesome since you get to be on the water, but stairs also sound exhausting right about now!
  • @Lelkcot I used to work on them full time like that, now I'm shore-based and I work as a tech rep for the Navy. So I only have to go on the ships when they're having problems, not when they are underway.

  • My beta was 191. They do want me to go back today and do one more draw. The won't schedule anything until it's above 200 and obviously they would like to see it double. So off to the lab!

    TW*
My beta started out at 28 during my last pregnancy and it took 3-4 draws for it get this high. Most of those not quite doubling, so although it may not really tell me much it still makes me feel better to see a higher number than my MC.

@purpleteacher82 I hope you get a great second beta draw! That seems strange that they won't schedule you unless your betas are a certain number. Mine didn't even want to confirm the pregnancy, but they scheduled me at 8 weeks.

  • @purpleteacher82 glad to hear you're already starting out higher and fx for a good second beta!

@meggyme that sounds like interesting work!
  • @Lelkcot That's a bummer about no benefits. Will they be able to keep your job for you after maternity leave? I want to get into project management, so right now I feel like a glorified A/C repairman. And there's not been enough work to go around, so most days I'm in the office doing nothing. So, it's interesting but not what I want to be doing. I'm hoping if my contracting company pulls me when I tell them I'm pregnant that I'll be doing something more in line with what I'd like to be doing.

  • @meggyme fx that this helps you move into a project mgmt role. Maybe you can steer them in that direction when you tell them. I honestly don't know how they'll handle the news when I'm ready to share and being a contractor definitely feels more precarious. The good news on the benefits side is I've been on MH for years now, and not having the option through my job actually saves us money (there's a $100/month penalty if I have insurance through my job but opt to be on his). The lack of 401k and PTO is frustrating though.
  • @Lelkcot I bet. I'm also on MH's insurance (he's military so it's better and cheaper, but more frustrating). I hope it'll help me get a project management position. They're kind of grooming/training me for it. The catch is that we'll get new orders soon and possibly move next summer, so whatever they give me I may or may not be able to continue after that point. It's super frustrating and I'm just ready for some answers so I can stop wondering.

  • @meggyme I imagine it's tough not knowing if/where you'll be moving. How soon do you guys find out?

@Lelkcot *insert shrug emoji* That I also don't know. Haha. Hopefully in the next couple months, but could be anytime now.

  • @meggyme @LElkCot Thanks ladies! The nurse said they may have results by the end of the day if I got in early enough, so I ran out and did that quickly. Luckily, the lab is 5 minutes from my house!
  • @purpleteacher82 that would be nice to not have to wait in agony for too long.

  • @purpleteacher82 fx they get your results to you today!
  • Hi ladies!

@LElkCot glad your doctor listened to your concerns and got you on the progesterone.

@purpleteacher82 fx for great betas and that you get them today!

@meggyme I’m probably going to out myself this weekend when we see family.

Im just trying to get through what feels like the longest week ever. Tomorrow morning we have our next sono and I’m hoping to see LOs heartbeat. Other than that planning a trip to see my grandfather who just went into hospice.

  • @mschanandlerbong1214 I'm sorry about your grandfather. That's a tough trip to make. I hope you get to see the heartbeat tomorrow.

There's so many of us I knew I was going to forget someone. I'm going to add you to the top post so we can quickly tag everyone.

Yay! All the TTGP March Mamas in one thread!

@purpleteacher82 That’s nice the lab is only 5 minutes from your house. Hope you get the results today!

@meggyme Good luck not spilling the beans at dinner tonight...but if you do, enjoy sharing your happy news  :) Also, you rock at keeping this BMB organized and on target!

@LElkCot How long is DS at your mom's? Will you get another opportunity for a lazy afternoon? I'm glad you got your progesterone supplements although its a bummer to miss out on some precious alone time.

@mschanandlerbong1214 The week is almost over! Being a Friday Ticker changer makes the week seem to drag on even more, lol. Enjoy the visit with your grandfather. It's tough when our elder relatives transition to hospice  <3
  • @navete I do it out of love... and boredom. Haha! I hope no one minds.

  • @mschanandlerbong1214 sorry to hear about your grandfather. FX for a great sono tomorrow.

@navete I’m grateful to be on the supplements, even though I know there’s no scientific evidence they help, they’re giving me peace of mind. DS comes home tonight, and I’m excited to have him back, the house is too quite without him! Only thing is my mom & sister are staying for dinner and I know someone’s going to ask why I’m not drinking…

  • navetenavete member
@meggyme I love it! I wish more people would take initiative like that (ok not too many, that'd be chaos  :D) You seem to have an affinity for leadership and organization; you're a shoo-in for that project management position!

@LElkCot Can you make a mocktail before they arrive and sip on that through dinner? Just don't make anything too appetizing otherwise they may want a sip too lol.
  • @navete if only it were that easy. If anything I think they'd be concerned with how much time I spend here during working hours. :flushed:

  • @navete that's a good idea! I was debating just saying we've stopped drinking during the week to save $ and be healthier...  :#

@lelkcot @navete I've been drinking watered down ginger beer with mint leaves. It helps when I'm feeling nauseous. I think I'm going to call it a Pregnant Mule or a Knocked Up Mule. Anyway, if someone asks you to make one, you could just add vodka to theirs and it's a Moscow Mule.

  • I’ve been drinking this ginger ale lemonade and it’s been really helping my nausea throughout the day.

  • @meggyme I actually made some ginger syrup over the weekend so a pregnant mule is a perfect idea!
  • @purpleteacher82 - yay for great beta!
@lelkcot - i'm glad you got your progesterone supplements!
@mschanandlerbong1214 - hope you get to see LO's heartbeat tomorrow! So sorry about your grandfather, but hospice is a wonderful thing.

wow I missed a lot today! way too busy at work today. outside of work, I've just been doing fun stuff like picking paint colors for the new house - we're painting the worst colors (orange and peach) and making them gray and cream instead. we're going tonight to look at the samples we've painted and make our final decisions.

  • Yes to this board being so darn slow. I have family in town this week so I haven't really been on but the last few weeks were so slow it was agonizing. The daily ticker changes have almost no posts. I was feelin really odd being the only one starting threads for a bit. Thankfully meggyme showed up and is making me not feel so bad about that now. I’m glad there are so many of us on this board. Also sad I missed all this chat today.
  • @Jlavo888 we missed you too!

I managed to not out myself tonight, I think. At least no one asked.
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • @meggyme Glad no one asked. That’s so awkward and I’m the worst at lying so I always give up the info.
  • navetenavete member
@meggyme Yay for managing to keep it a secret for a little while longer

@JLaVO888 Ugh I know what you mean. The first people I told was only bc they directly asked and I couldn’t keep up with the lie. I feel like I keep mentioning this so I guess I’m not over it lol.

BTW, any of you have ideas on how to get people more engaged with the daily ticker threads? At this point they don’t seem to serve much purpose since very few people participate. Or maybe we propose getting rid of them altogether and people can check in on other threads (FTM, STM+, etc)?
  • I was thinking of getting rid of them too. They just clutter the feed if no one is going to use them.
